In he was appointed to served as Secretary of Public Education, this time under President Adolfo L³pez Mateos Torres Bodet served as director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from to . REFERENCE LINKS PRINT EMAIL Torres Bodet, Jaime Torres Bodet, Jaime, TAWR rays baw THEHT, HY may (1902-1974), was an important Mexican poet, educator, and statesman. Much of his poetry deals with dark themes, such as loneliness, a longing for death, and the author's opposition to what he sees as a hostile, dehumanized modern world. Torres Bodet's first collection of poetry was Fervor (1918). His other collections include Songs (1922), The House (1923), The Folding Screen (1925), Exile (1930), Crypt (1937), Frontiers (1954), and Without Truce (1957). A bilingual Selected Poems of Jaime Torres Bodet was published in 1964. He also wrote six novels from 1927 to 1937, the most praised being Shadows (1937).

Mexican poet, novelist, educator, and statesman. Modernismo , often returned to the themes of loneliness, a search for identity, and a longing for death. Cripta (1937) is considered to include his most important poems. His poetry was collected in (1967). Of six novels published between 1927 and 1937, Sombras (1937) is considered his best. Contemporánea Esta investigación es para conocer un poco más la historia de nuestro país, a través de personajes que han dejado huella, en este caso, en el ámbito literario. Seleccionamos a este noble personaje de renombrada fama con la intención de saber en que se basa nuestra historia cultural.
Su carrera intelectual y pública fue una de las más brillantes del México Contemporáneo. Nació en la ciudad de México el 17 de abril de 1902; estudió en la Primaria "Anexa" a la Normal, Escuela Nacional Preparatoria, en la Escuela de Leyes y en la de altos estudios de la Universidad Nacional. Antes de los veinte años enseñó literatura en la Escuela Preparatoria y fue secretario de la misma, de donde pasaría a la Secretaría de la "José Vasconcelos", rector de la Universidad y luego Secretario de Educación Pública. Siendo jefe del Departamento de Bibliotecas organizó la revista "El Libro" y "el Pueblo" y, junto con Bernardo Ortiz de Montellano, la revista literaria "La Falange"; colabora en "Lecturas Clásicas para Niños" y la revista "Contemporáneos". Torres Bodet fue un hombre que hizo demasiadas cosas importantes en su vida, por eso lo recordamos como un hombre ilustre. Inició la construcción del Museo de Antropología e Historia de la ciudad de México.

Mr. President of the Patronato, honorable ambassadors, distinguished members of the diplomatic corps, ladies and gentlemen: This 25 th From its inception, the Institute has organized intensive summer courses for young linguists desirous of honing their skills through the study of the indigenous languages. Their work was later expanded to include the teaching of Spanish to groups of monolingual villagers. They also devoted similar labor to the preparation of dictionaries, vocabularies and primers as well as to the translation of texts from Spanish into the local languages. Carrying out this program has resulted in interesting articles in the field of social anthropology. Some of these members of the Institute also made a great effort to record in written form indigenous stories and legends that often exhibited an air of mystery and subtle charm. Under the auspices of the Institute, persevering investigators have been able to analyze the morphology of a number of the languages. Thanks to their work, books have been prepared including textbooks for linguistic courses and teaching materials for use by the indigenous groups. All of this scientific work, which has earned our gratitude and appreciation, is reinforced by the compilation of vocabularies among which are the recent ones for

Su obra en prosa comprende ensayos literarios ( Contemporáneos Tres inventores de realidad Balzac , 1959), relatos ( La educación sentimental Estrella de día Primero de enero Sombra , 1937) y libros de memorias: Tiempo de arena Años contra el tiempo La victoria sin alas El desierto internacional (1971) y La tierra prometida (1972). Fue premio nacional de literatura en 1966. Se suicidó.
