Extractions: edited and converted to HTML format by David R Ondrejko Cloaked in "Satanic" terminology and looming in the midst of an academic atmosphere, there exists a sickness that TS (Temple of Set) members refuse to acknowledge but with which they are nevertheless plagued. It contorts, undermines, and marks all of what TS members endeavor to pursue. It acts as an infectious disease raging to epidemic proportions, running wild and stronger the higher it travels through the TS's pretentious degree system. It's the very disease found in all religions and organizations that are accepted upon authority of a "divine" nature. This "plague" which is overlooked and fostered with the TS is one of SELF-DECEIT and HYPOCRISY . It destroys the very principle on which the TS is claimed to be founded: "...to preserve and enhance the more noble concepts which The Church of Satan had conceived and outlined." My experiences and observations as a member in the TS from June 14, 1993 to February 8, 1995 proved to be far more revealing than the TS would ever concede. There were many subtle yet conspicuous displays of deceit and hypocrisy which are seen by anyone who maintains the slightest semblance of Satanic thought. With the passing of time and through empirical examination it became more and more evident that Setian philosophy and practices are inconsistent with those found in Satanism (as defined in The Satanic Bible).

FAQ The orlay of Wyrd: I was 40 years old, on a quest to find out who God was, and had begun to start a new life, when I had moved to Watertown, New York on Dec 17, 1987, interestingly enough, just before the Ring of Troth was instituted on Mother Night 1987. I met Garman Lord in March of 1988, twelve years after he founded Theodish Belief, and it was from Garman that I first learned about Heathenry, the religion of the Elder Gods. The orlay of 1988: I wrote to Edred Thorsson, whom Garman knew, because I was impressed with Edred's books, requesting information about membership in the Rune Gild. Edred's first letter to me was dated August 6, 1988, in which he says, "thank you for your inquiry to the Rune Gild...it was buried in a stack of materials and the Steward just found it. If you would like to join us...we would welcome you into our Halls." He had also sent some introductory material for the Ring of Troth. The orlay of 1989 The orlay of 1990: The next Idunna (Jan 90) I received again announced the first Ostara, I wanted to attend, but other commitments prevented that from occuring. The next Idunna, April 90, had a review of the Ostara event, in which it said, "Edred led a discussion concerning the future of the Ring of Troth and the elder training program. Three folks from out of town, including Prudence Priest of Yggdrasil fame, returned to their steads with authorization to found hearths in their local areas." I was greatly disappointed that I could not make that event.

Such fearsome subjects as black magic, "evil" and Satanism are not defined in terms of malevolence, murder and mahem, but rather as a process by which an individual can attain excellence without the necessity of transcendental obeisance or assistance. My first impression of this book was that it was kind of a "Chicken Soup" amalgam of disciplines, philosophies and exercises which seemed somewhat anathema to stereotypical Left Hand Path traditions. After the initial cursory perusal, I started over again from the beginning and SLOWLY began to assimilate the ideas presented. I began to realize that nearly every sentence had a potency of its own. I was becoming elucidated by the "darkness" and the psychology of "Coming Into Being" began to cohese with my inner being. My synapses were beginning to fire with excitement!

Extractions: The Storm is the name used by an occult society claiming to be the vanguard of the International Sethian movement, and also claiming to follow a more authentic version of the religion of Seth and the Left Hand Path , than the Temple of Set (which is the organization that they broke away from in 2002 claiming bureaucratic as well as theological reasons for the schism). Along with high-ranking members like Zeena Schreck (the High Priestess at the time of the schism) and her husband Nickolas Shreck, several members making up several sub-groups of the Temple of Set, departed from that organization in order to found The Storm group. The differences between the Temple of Set and the Storm group, appear to be more along the lines of aesthetics than actual philosophy with the Temple of Set portraying a more academic or philosophic image, while the Storm group represents a more abrasive form of neo-Satanism employing shock tactics as well as esoteric eastern philosophy. The Storm group attempts to distinguish itself from its parent group, much like the Temple of Set attempts to distinguish itself from its parent group (the

Unfortunately, "Satanism" and related terms have often been used as universal "snarl" words. The following are five essentially unrelated beliefs and activities that have been referred to as "Satanism:" Gothic Satanism: This is an imaginary , profoundly evil religion that was invented during the late Middle Ages by the Christian church. Gothic Satanists were said to ritually kill children, boil down their bodies to make magical implements, sell their soul to the devil, break crucifixes, conduct black masses, bring hail storms to damage crops, cause disease in farm animals and humans. etc. They were said to totally dedicate their life to harming others. The church's creation of Gothic Satanism gave the theological foundation for the " burning times " in which tens of thousands of religious heretics, mentally ill people, and supremely unlucky individuals were burned at the stake (in Roman Catholic countries) or hung (in Protestant countries).

Chaos magick theory is only briefly touched upon in a few short essays at the start of the book, as a brief introduction as to what is to come.
