Introduction The North Douglas Pentecostal Tabernacle (North Douglas) is a church, and a member of an association of churches known as the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). North Douglas had its church building on property near the corner of McKenzie Avenue and Highway 17A in Victoria, British Columbia. The registered owner of the property was the PAOC, but it was held in trust for North Douglas. The church had held church services on this property for over 50 years. Prior to 1991 the church had been flourishing. There had been an expansion of the building in the early 1980s to accommodate the growing congregation, which in 1989 was averaging almost 300 each Sunday. Then the Ministry of Transportation and Highways (MoTH) decided it needed the property for the purposes of expanding and redesigning the highway intersection. After some negotiation, the property was transferred by agreement under section 3 of the

Multi-Cultural Health Care The pentecostal assemblies of canada (PAOC) was formed in 1919 in response to arevival of the ministry of the Holy Spirit that spread across Canada. http://www.stjosham.on.ca/education/penta.htm
Extractions: FOUNDER The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC) was formed in 1919 in response to a revival of the ministry of the Holy Spirit that spread across Canada. At this time twenty new congregations formed in the nucleus of the movement. Pentecostalism arose from Holiness roots, but embraced a distinctive doctrine that the spirit's fullness is physically manifested by speaking in a new, spirit given language. The Biblical basis for this teaching is taken from a number of texts primarily found in Acts chapter 2, 8, 10 and 19, but also includes Old Testament prophecies such as Joel 2:28ff. Other New testament references include I Corinthians 12-14 and Ep0hesians 5:18ff. Thus, the founder of the PAOC is the Spirit of God himself and the church seeks to follow New Testament teaching in a very devout and persona way. NATURE OF RELIGION Monotheistic, Christian Pentecostals look upon the word "religion" with some contempt. We prefer to speak of "relationship". Thus, "spirituality" more accurately describes how we see ourselves as opposed to "a religion".

Extractions: History Students take courses via the Internet using their computers throughout the world, others attend classes at Distance Education Centres in Ontario, Newfoundland, and the Maritimes. while a large group of students study at the new campus in Toronto. In churches throughout Eastern Canada students are living and learning ministry on the job as they complete the internship component of their programs. Other groups in these areas are devoting nine months of their life to a program of 24/7 discipleship. Graduate students work towards their M.Div's and M.T.S.' on a full-time basis or part-time. The practice and principles of ministry are taught to dedicated students in Spanish, Tamil, Korean, Chinese, Filipino, Urdhu and deaf (ASL) language so that they can minister to Canadian people groups whose first language is not English. This is the life of Master's College and Seminary at the beginning of the 21st century. Would the delegates who traveled to Winnipeg to attend the 1925 General Conference of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada have ever forseen such an outcome to one of their decisions? At that time they directed Dr. J.E. Purdie, an Anglican minister who had established a 3-year Bible College in Winnipeg, to open another college in Eastern Canada. The Great Depression interfered with their plans but in 1939 James Swanson founded Ontario Pentecostal Bible School in Toronto. Students lived off-campus and attended classes at Bethel Pentecostal Church and then later at Danforth Gospel Temple.

Northwest Pentecostal Assembly The pentecostal assemblies of canada has been a dynamic movement. What hascontributed to the movement s growth and stability? Church Historian Ron Kydd http://www.npachurch.com/PAOCHistory.html
Extractions: Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada In 1925, A. E. Adams, Arthur Atter and I were driving from Amprior, Ontario, to the conference in London, Ontario. We were motoring along Highway Number 2. At that time, we passed only two places having churches affiliated with The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. These were Kingston (having a mere handful), and Napanee. That night at Napanee, there were only thirteen present, including the carload from Amprior. As we motored through various places, we would remove our hats, and pray that a Pentecostal church would be founded in each of these localities. Then we would continue on our journey. So wrote James Montgomery. From its inception, the driving force behind The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada has been church planting. Our forefathers believed that this would be the last generation before the return of Christ. Even as the church was born in an outpouring of the Spirit, so would it be raptured while in revival. As in the first century, so in the last, this renewal would result in the conversion of people and the creation of many local congregations. To that end they prayed and laboured. Their vision came from the Scriptures. When Jesus said to go and make disciples, He provided the gift of the Holy Spirit as the power for effective witness. He said He would build His church. As Pentecostals, we have demonstrated that the "power from on high" is the method the Master uses. The apostles went with an anointing to announce the Good News. Congregations came into being as Pentecostal power penetrated the population centres of that time. And so it continues.
