Extractions: Wednesday, 2 June 2004 Infant Feeding Donation to Benefit More Than 14,500 Charities Del Monte Foods joins forces with America's Second Harvest, the largest domestic hunger-relief charity in the United States, in recognition of National Hunger Awareness Day on June 3, 2004. In response to this year's theme that everyone deserves a place at the table Del Monte Foods donated enough Nature's Goodness baby food to benefit more than 36 food banks in 22 states to support their fight against child hunger and the strain hunger puts on millions of families in America. "Hunger and lack of proper nutrition are serious issues, especially for families with young children," said Richard G. Wolford, Del Monte chairman and CEO. "Through our support of America's Second Harvest on National Hunger Awareness Day and throughout the year we are proud and committed to helping enrich the lives of children across the country by providing nourishing foods allowing them to grow and be strong and healthy." Today, hunger and lack of proper nutrition are growing threats among working and unemployed families across the nation. During the summer months, the problem is more acute when children don't have access to school-based meals. As a result, America's Second Harvest, its network of pantries, soup kitchens and shelters see an increase in demand for its services. Del Monte Foods, a company committed to enriching the lives of today's families by providing nourishing and great-tasting products, will join with thousands of hunger-relief agencies, public interest groups, government leaders and corporate and individual donors to focus the nation's attention on the problems facing these hungry children and their families.
Extractions: Friday, 23 May 2003 BACE Motorsports announced today a joining of forces with America's Second Harvest, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States, in recognition of National Hunger Awareness Day (NHAD) on June 5, 2003. Raines, Baumgardner and Forney joined America's Second Harvest volunteers at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina this afternoon to unveil the graphic scheme that Raines' Winston Cup entry will sport at Dover International Speedway on June 1 in support of National Hunger Awareness Day. "Nine million is an astounding number to me, especially when it relates to children in our country who are hungry and unsure of where their next meal will come from," said Raines. "Many Americans understand that hunger is a problem in our country but I don't how many of us realize how great the need really is. We are going to run the America's Second Harvest car at Dover in hopes of raising awareness of National Hunger Day and the hunger crisis facing our nation." BACE has enlisted Tombstone Pizza in an effort to directly combat the hunger issue in conjunction with the Dover race event. In recognition of the 100th anniversary of parent company Kraft Foods, Tombstone Pizza will donate 100 pizza servings for every lap Raines completes in the 400-lap race. The first installment of the "Monster Meals" program will feed 40,000 children when Raines takes the checkered flag at Dover's Monster Mile, and provide a challenge to America's race fans to act locally to support one of the 216 Hunger Relief organizations in their hometown that is served by the

Olustvere School of Agriculture will ensure that the agricultural aspects are taken care of. We shall have fields and livestock around Cinderhill and they're the ones making it possible. We see this entire project as a good opportunity to unite professionals and students from a wide array of professions and countries. CSIRO PUBLISHING - Publishing Partners You are here Books CDs Publishing partners Fatal harvest takes anunprecedented look at our current ecologically destructive agricultural system http://www.publish.csiro.au/nid/23/pid/4135.htm
Extractions: Fatal Harvest takes an unprecedented look at our current ecologically destructive agricultural system and offers a compelling vision for an organic and environmentally safer way of producing the food we eat. It includes more than 250 profound and startling photographs and gathers together more than 40 essays by leading ecological thinkers including Wendell Berry, Wes Jackson, David Ehrenfeld, Helena Norberg-Hodge, Vandana Shiva, and Gary Nabhan. Its scope and photo-driven approach provide a unique and invaluable antidote to the efforts by agribusiness to obscure and disconnect us from the truth about industrialised foods. The book's many photographs and essays offer graphic testimony to the tragic consequences of how our food is produced. Readers will come to see that industrial food production is indeed a "fatal harvest" - fatal to consumers, as pesticide residues and new disease vectors such as E. coli and "mad cow disease" find their way into our food supply; fatal to our landscapes, as chemical runoff from factory farms poison our rivers and groundwater; fatal to genetic diversity, as farmers rely increasingly on high-yield monocultures and genetically engineered crops; and fatal to our farm communities, which are wiped out by huge corporate farms.
