    Extractions: Hello and welcome to the website of the Otterbein United Methodist Church of Chanute, Kansas. The O.U.M.C. is a small city church with a membership of around 300 people. Our membership has many older adults, some young families, and age groups in-between. The Church is handicapped accessible with a covered walkway into the Church itself for inclimate weather. The Otterbein United Methodist Church is situated on eight acres and is primarily a ranch style layout. The interior of O.U.M.C. consists with everything being laid out on the main floor, with the exception of the children's Sunday School classes which are located on the second floor. On the grounds of the Church is an outdoor chapel and a large children's play area with swings. A separate building housing a local unit of the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts is also located on the Church grounds. In front of our Scout building is an outdoor court which can be used for basketball or tennis. It also functions as a dry area for the children to play on when it is otherwise too muddy on the grounds. We are a diverse collection of Christians from many different backgrounds who come together to worship God, with our Saving Grace coming from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We are a United Methodist congregation, that formerly was of the Evangelical United Brethren tradition. When the Methodist and The United Brethren merged in 1968, we became a United Methodist Church. Like all United Methodist Churches we believe in ministry and outreach. We are also fortunate enough to house one of the two food pantries in the community.

Opening hours Enquiries should be directed to: email: gareth.lloyd@man.ac.uk The Methodist Archives and Research Centre (MARC) was established by the Methodist Church of Great Britain in 1961 to house the Connexional records of the Church. The Centre was originally located at John Wesley's Chapel, City Road, London, but in 1977 it was transferred to the John Rylands University Library of Manchester. The size of the collection transferred from London was estimated at over 26,000 printed items and approximately 600 feet of manuscript shelving. Since 1977 the Archives have expanded considerably, with approximately 60,000 deposits of new material. The core of the 18th century holdings is represented by the works of John Wesley numbering over 1,300 items. The combined personal libraries of Charles Wesley and John Fletcher of Madeley comprise an additional 600 volumes.
