He said Dr Mahathir's stand on an Islamic state was "insincere" and filled with contradictions that have confused both Muslims and non-Muslims. It's significant in two aspects: "Umno's position on the issue is very cluttered. I was told that the prime minister has briefed officers in his department that the federal government will create a facade that favours Islamic laws, but that it will continue to fight attempt to implement such laws," said Hadi. Hadi dismissed Dr Mahathir's claims that Malaysia is already an Islamic State: "... Hadi said the definition of a true Islamic state is stated in the Quran and Hadith (Traditions of the Prophet).

Extractions: Comments I think Islam Hadhari is good, but not complete. The actual implementation, as Jeff pointed out, is still questionable. Personally, I think 'Anwar' is so anti-UMNO that he mis-represented his opinion on Islam Hadhari, that it looked anti-Islam. By the way, Jeff, Islam Hadhari (per se) is a good example of muslim politicians trying to present Islam to Malaysian muslims (to give an alternative to PAS's version, and keep them happy), and to non-muslims (who will see UMNO as 'moderate muslims'), in case you haven't noticed. Makes you wonder what true Islam is. :) Posted by: Onn at October 16, 2004 03:21 PM If I'm not mistaken his e-mail addy was tagged "tongsanboy" or such. I did find that rather interesting. Posted by: arusa at October 16, 2004 03:53 PM I pity "Anwar' (tongsanchai@yahoo.com) for being made a scapegoat of Islam Hadhari. I read his comments for the past few months and he is more an anti-UMNO and a pro-PAS. Definitely NOT Anti-Islam. To me Islam Hadhari is a political product at best (for anyone who disagree with me please show me proof from Al Quran and Hadiths which mentioned true Islam is "Islam Hadhari").

On behalf of the Government and the people of many races and religions of Malaysia, may I extend a warm welcome to all and everyone to this 10th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Putrajaya, Malaysias administrative capital. Did the British people bring it all on themselves by re-electing Tony Blair, as Omar al-Bakri Mohammad of the Muhajeroun group claims? And what about Anjem Chowdry's contention that no self-respecting Muslim should sit down with the government, presumably because it consists of the "infidel"? Must Osama bin Laden be treated as a spokesman for modern Islam? And should we treat Yussuf al-Qaradawi, a man feted by London Mayor Ken Livingstone as if he were the Muslim Pope, as a "moderating voice" or the peddler of another brand of extremism? In the aftermath of the bombing the airwaves are full of such voices claiming to speak the truth on behalf of Islam.
Extractions: Earlier News Reports available at Archives 6th - 20th October 2003: The Summit attracted various views and thoughts from leaders. These were pot across in statements made during the two day summit. One common view among the leaders was for the Ummah to become more practical in the manner in which issues affecting them are addressed. The theme for this year's summit was Knowledge and Morality for Unity and Dignity for the progress of the Ummah. The incoming Chairman of the OIC, Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad among a host of other issues talked on the division of the Ummah " But not only are our governments divided, the Muslim Ummah is also divided, and divided again and again. Over the last 1400 years the interpreters of Islam, the learned ones, the ulamas have interpreted and reinterpreted the single Islamic religion brought by Prophet Mohammad s.a.w so differently that now we have a thousand religions which are often so much at odds with one another that we often fight and kill each other. From being a single ummah we have allowed ourselves to be divided into numerous sects, mazhabs and tarikats, each more concerned with claiming to be the true Islam than our oneness at the Islamic Ummah."

In the Holy Quran, Allah (SWT) says "It is he who has sent his apostle with guidance and the religion of truth so that he may make it prevail over all religions even though those who worship false Gods may detest it" (Quran 9:33). Even though the United States, Russia and all the superpowers may detest it. Allah's promise is not conditional on the strength of the superpowers. In its widest sense the Islamic movement spans the entire ummah, in its narrowest it represents that part of the ummah which is most advanced in its struggle towards establishing Islam as a total way of life. This campaign against Iran is nothing new. Right from the beginning vested interests have carried on an unending campaign against the Islamic revolution in Iran. this evening our guest speaker, Mr. Ahmad Deedat who is a distinguished scholar of Islam, who hardly needs any introduction to the public and who has just returned from his trip to Iran, will present to us his first hand account on Iran. I now call upon Mr. Ahmad Deedat to speak to you.(applause).
Jesus A.S. In Islam 10 During this period all other religions and mazhabs besides Islam will perish, hence there will be no kuffaars (nonbelievers) in the world. http://www.islam.tc/prophecies/jesus.html
Extractions: by Mufti A.H. Elias I. Jesus (A.S.) In Islam Muslims do believe that Isa (A.S.) was sent down as a Prophet of Allah (God), but he (Jesus) is not God or Lord, nor the son of God. Muslims do not believe that Isa (A.S.), also known as Jesus by Christians and others, is dead or was ever crucified. We believe that he was raised to heaven and is there, and will descend at the appointed time, end all wars, and bring peace to the world. Like Jesus (A.S.), Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is also a Prophet and Messenger. Muhammed (P.B.U.H.) is the last Prophet, though, and there is none after him. Hence, Islam is the last religion, complete, with the Holy Qur'an as the unchanged and perfect word of God for over 1400 years, as God promised to preserve it till the last day for all of humankind, unlike sacred texts of other religions which have mulitple versions and are "revised" periodically. God, or Allah in Arabic, is Divine and Supreme Being and Creator. What the Holy Qur'an says about Jesus: They slew him not, nor did they crucify him but it was made dubious to them.

There were six founders, of whom one remains today, namely Nazeer Ahmed Basheer, the current editor. The first editor of Rising Star, Ahmed Souaiaia (Jul - Dec 1995), originated the idea of the Islamic Journal. Under his editorship, Rising Star published monthly articles that were of intellectual, academic quality and touched heavily on international analysis. From the start, Rising Star generated a great deal of discussion due to coverage of issues that included the teaching system at the Islamic school, an academic discussion into the Islamic and American judicial system and into issues dealing with the major mazhabs. The second editor, Hamza Abdul-Kareem (Jan - Dec 1996), oriented Rising Star to take a more American flavor covering issues such as America's debt crisis and the Child Protection Services. During this period, the newspaper was even seen in courtrooms in a case involving Muslim parents due to Rising Star's coverage of that issue.

Extractions: CHAPTER VI THE POLITICAL AND LEGAL CULTURE OF MEDIEVAL ISLAM NUR KIRABAEV BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE POLITICAL DOCTRINE OF ISLAM SHARIA AND FIQH: REVELATION AND REASON Practically all Islamic political theories are based on the principal that historically Islam is the basis of the first Arabic state. From the first days of its existence, the state had no conflict with religion, but religion played its integral part: Religion is the essence of the state, and the state is the essence of religion. The Islamic political doctrine does not see any difference between the temporal and secular purposes of the state and the higher, "eternal" goals of religion. The purposes of the state and Islam, as a religion, are uniform and indivisible. There is no antithesis between a historically developing society and religion as the keeper of the general values of the human beings existence. The state is the "given" object, and is not limited in its existence. By itself it suppresses evil and shows the way to religious piety. Islamic socio-political doctrine has no accurate boundaries between moral, religious, political ,and legislative norms, that is, between secular and sacral matters. In reality, the secular authorities on behalf of a Sultan or Emir frequently usurped power, which actually certified the existence of differences between the secular and the religious. However, this difference did not mean an ideological separation of the state and religion. In the history of Islamic thought, no governor or theorist of the law would recognize this difference
