Founded in 1990, Lutheran Lesbian & Gay Ministries (LLGM) is a national mission society that supports openly identified sexual minority pastors, seminarians and lay ministers who have been discriminated against because of their sexual orientation. 150 years ago, the mission societies of Europe raised money to send pastors to serve the immigrant population on the American frontier, because the state churches of Europe refused to do so. Today, Lutheran Lesbian & Gay Ministries (LLGM) is doing the same for gay and lesbian pastors, because of the "refusal" policies of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). In the decade and a half since our founding, LLGM's donors have provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in support to congregations and ministries who call gay and lesbian pastors.

The 2005 Jamboree concluded and NLAS participated. A team of NLAS volunteers had a booth in the Relationships area. They handed out buttons, gave out meal graces and collected names of Scouts and Scouters to contact later. A Lutheran worship service was held with 4500 youth. See the booth pictures, see service and chaplain pictures The membership of NLAS approved changes to the NLAS Bylaws that enable the merger of NLAS and LCCYAR and a reorganization of the board. The NLAS Board met to affirm the results of that vote and now is planning the implementation. The new Bylaws go into effect on July 1, 2005, with the organization officially renamed the National Lutheran Association on Scouting. Other aspects of the merger take effect as of October 30, 2005, which the Board has slated as the reorganization implementation day.
