Extractions: The Town Peterhead is the largest town in Aberdeenshire, some 32 miles (51.5 km) north of the city of Aberdeen and the most easterly town in Scotland. It was founded by the 4th Earl Marischal and developed around the harbour at Keith Inch in 1587. By 1680 Peterhead had become one of the largest fishing ports on the north coast. Today Peterhead, known locally as the 'Bloo Toon', is a thriving town of around 19,000 inhabitants where the local Buchan dialect is still frequently heard, have a look at the 23rd Psalm!

There is also a national project underway to index burials before 1855, across Scotland. List of the Old Parochial Registers . "This list is based on the printed Detailed List of the Old Parochial Registers of Scotland which was first published in 1872. It provides a basic reference guide for identifying the dates for the births/baptisms, marriages/proclamations of marriage and deaths/burials in the Old Parish Registers (OPRs) held by the General Register Office for Scotland." This website has been launched with the intention of providing useful information, up to date news, and an administrative service to assist the smooth running of West Glasgow New Church committees. We are indebted to the late David Jenkins, a much loved member of West Glasgow, who laid much of the ground work for putting WGNC on the web. His passionate faith, sharp mind and humour are sorely missed. West Glasgow New Church was formed when a group of believers from a brethren assembly left to start a new church. Since starting in February of 1989 its members have grown from approximately 100 to over 200 adults and children. The Church has rented a number of schools or colleges to meet in, starting off in Knightswood Secondary School then moving to Broomhill Primary School, Anniesland College and finally to Cleveden Secondary School. Members of WGNC the church come from all over the Greater Glasgow area but the majority live in the West End. Our members come from all kinds of backgrounds, walks of life and church experience. They see living with distinctive Christian character as a priority in the communities in which they are involved.

Extractions: Crown Terrace is the only Methodist Church in Aberdeen. Our minister is Rev David Collinson. We are part of the North of Scotland Mission Circuit which covers several churches on the coast: Portgordon, Buckie , Banff, Portessie, Findochty, Cullen , Whitehills, Peterhead and Cruden Bay. This means that we cover a range of 70 miles, making us the largest Methodist circuit in Britain. There are 3 other full-time ministers in the circuit, one of whom, Rev. Christopher Mabb has his own Methodist web site . Many of the church services are conducted by retired ministers, ministers employed at Aberdeen University and lay preachers. To find out who is preaching this week, please see 'The Plan' Sunday Services are at 11am and 6:30pm , and the morning worship is preceded by the "Sunday at Ten" Bible study, discussion group and choir. Sunday School and creche are features of our morning service. Through Aberdeen's links with both the oil industry and education, you will always find people from far corners of the world worshipping with us.
