Ein solcher nichtiger Anlass konnte vieles sein, z.B. geringe körperliche Anstrengung, ein kurzer Sprint zur Straßenbahn, in Winterkleidung ein geheiztes Kaufhaus betreten, eine Beschwerde loswerden, mit Verkäufern reden, körperliche Nähe mit fremden Menschen z.B. in vollen Bahnen oder eine Behandlung durch eine Arzthelferin. Alles also völlig normale Situationen, die einem täglich begegnen. Auf Dauer wurden diese Schweißattacken zum Selbstläufer. Wann immer ich in einer entsprechenden Situation kam und auch nur daran dachte, dass ich jetzt schwitzen könnte, war dies bereits der Auslöser. Je häufiger ich schwitzte, desto häufiger dachte ich daran; je häufiger ich daran dachte, desto häufiger schwitzte ich. Die Attacken kamen also immer öfter und ich begann, Situationen zu vermeiden und schränkte mich dadurch selber ein. Dieses übermäßige und sehr störende Schwitzen hatte einfach einen zu großen Raum in meinem täglichen Leben eingenommen, so dass ich dringend Abhilfe schaffen wollte.
