After serving fifteen years in the merchant navy he transfers to land-based employment in the Persian Gulf. As a descendant of Admiral Duncan, Donald Orde is destined for a career at sea from an early age. In 1932 he joins the merchant navy as an apprentice on the Fernmoor . Soon afterwards he is shipwrecked in freezing December seas off the coast of Newfoundland. Your telephone call was very uplifting for me, especially when Master chose to speak with me. I'm sorry I didn't recognize Master immediately, he caught me by surprise. I had assumed that Master preferred to stay in the background and not have direct contact with the outside world. Once again I am reminded that it is risky to assume anything. So I lost what I consider to be a precious opportunity to strengthen my relationship with the "Master" part of you. Still, it was very encouraging to have Master volunteer to talk with me; I hope that our future contacts are less disappointing for both of us. It is so good to see the progress as God continues His healing process within you! I am getting more excited about you and our relationship as each week goes by. There will still be difficult times for both of us, but I rejoice in the positive changes they are bringing to our lives.
