Kingston, Ontario, Canada Sydenham Street United Church, constructed in 1852, is a downtown church and city landmark. Located in historic Kingston, Ontario, we are a part of the United Church of Canada. The congregation, founded in 1811, was one of the first Methodist congregations in Upper Canada. We are an inclusive, affirming congregation with extensive lay participation by young and old.
The work of the congregation is undertaken through a committee system and regular quarterly congregational meetings. Outreach is a high priority both in volunteer time and financial support.
If you are in our vicinity, come and worship with us. You will be warmly welcomed.

PCCWeb The Web IAN MORRISON RETIRES AS GENERAL SECRETARY Rev. Ian Morrison handed over the job of general secretary of the Life and Mission Agency (LMA) of The Presbyterian Church in Canada on Sept. 1 to Rev. Dr. Richard Fee, ending a long career in parish and national church ministry. He will continue to work in the national office for the transitional month of September. Nigeria "I ask that you support with your prayers the leadership of Rick and the other members of the staff of the LMA as they carry out the mandate that has been given to them by the general assembly." About chickens and prayer There are at least two lessons to be learned from Teresa of Avila. She was a Catholic nun who lived in the 16th century, known for living a life of prayer and for her writings, among them "The Way of Perfection." Teresa was sitting in the convent's kitchen one day with a roasted chicken. She grabbed the chicken in both hands and began gnawing at it, just devouring that chicken. One of the nuns walked into the kitchen and was horrified at the undignified way Sister Teresa was eating that chicken. Teresa said: "When I eat chicken, I eat chicken; when I pray, I pray."

Spiritual Immunization

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Professor Frank Oberklaid, director of the Center for Community Child Health at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, believes that reading to preschool children is as vital as having them immunized. His reason?... Ministering as One Twenty-six Verses Recently, my husband and I prepared to attend the kindergarten graduation of one of our granddaughters who attends a private Christian school. Grandpa busied himself checking that the batteries for his digital camera were fully charged and making certain he had slipped an extra battery pack for the video camera into his bag. nazarene home contact find a church news ... beliefs

Metropolitan United Church serves a unique congregation drawn from throughout the City of Toronto and surrounding communities. All who come to this magnificent sanctuary are welcome to participate in the richness of the worship services and experience the excellence of preaching and the glory of the music. "People with different ideas are welcome," says Janet Gadeski, a member of the church and its former administrator. "They don't have to 'toe the line'." Many people come from miles away to attend the church because it is large and historic, but decidedly modern in outlook.
The extensive facilities in the main church building and the adjacent Church House not only serve the spiritual and educational needs of worshippers, but also are used throughout the year for comprehensive community service programs. These provide assistance and activities to minister to the body, mind and spirit of people in downtown Toronto.
