The Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Andover, Massachusetts
A Liberal Religious Voice in the Merrimack Valley since 1847
We invite you to join us on our journey.
We, the members of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Andover (affectionately known as the UUCiA), join with one another to create and sustain a caring community which:
nurtures spiritual growth, shares our Unitarian Universalist tradition, values and celebrates diversity, and is a liberal beacon, grounded in hope, for a just world.
We have put together what we hope will be a helpful introduction and guide to our congregational life. This is a static representation of who we are - you are encouraged to pay us a visit. You will find us to be a warm and embracing congregation, informal in style. Also, the latest copy of our Introductory Brochure is available for you to download. We hope you will find among us an invitation: to celebrate life together in a caring community, to include children as equal participants with you in the communal experience, to honor the diverse religious backgrounds of an interfaith constituency, to engage in personal spiritual growth, to be present for others who also search, to cooperate in supporting the community centered in worship, deepened by educational and social opportunities, and to work together with others for a just world. If the journey begins with the first step, we hope it may be in our company.

About Our Congregation
Like most Unitarian Universalist congregations, the UU Church of South County is a spiritually diverse community. Our members identify themselves as Jewish, humanist, Taoist, Christian, pagan, atheist, monotheist, and "none of the above." In general, though, we believe that there is no single religious truth and that life is a spiritual journey best experienced with others. We also strive to be ethnically and religiously diverse, and we welcome those of any ethnicity or religious orientation. Our Mission: To encourage spiritual growth through free religious thought; to foster an atmosphere of acceptance, love and respect; to support commitment to service in the wider world. Other UU Congregations And Groups What Is Unitarian Universalism? With its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religionthat is, a religion that keeps an open mind to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves. We are a "non-creedal" religion: we do not ask anyone to ascribe to a creed. Our congregations are self-governing. Authority and responsibility are vested in the membership of the congregation. Each Unitarian Universalist congregation is involved in many kinds of programs. Worship is held regularly, the insights of the past and the present are shared with those who will create the future, service to the community is undertaken, and friendships are made. A visitor to a UU congregation will very likely find events and activities such as church school, day-care centers, lectures and forums, support groups, poetry festivals, family events, adult education classes and study groups.

Your onestop source for the very best UU essays on the internet.
http://www.2think.org/uu.shtml
On November 2, 1997 Kenneth M. Reeves delivered an essay he had written to the UU fellowship my family and I attend. It was a moving experience at the time. I sat there nodding through most of it, with smiles creeping across my face at times, bits of controlled laughter at others, and my mind being sent off in various directions throughout. To read the sermon that we heard click here . Since this was written to be 'performed', the humor and impact isn't quite as potent as when simply read. Enjoy it anyway. I'm also going to devote this page to other similar essays. If you know of any on the internet, or if you have any that you would like to have put on the internet, please let me know. I'm interested in thought provoking essays that deal with science, a search for truth, creating meaning in our lives, and historical figures. I'm not interested in posting any of the political issues that some UUs speak out on. Here are a few sites that contain such essays (and other similar items dealing with Unitarian Universalism):

What is CUUPS?
CUUPS is a group of people who are interested in earth-centred spirituality. We are affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church. Some CUUPS members are also UU members, some are not. The Halifax Chapter is unofficial we are not (yet) formally affiliated with the North American CUUPS organization. Our purpose is to investigate and learn from Earth Centred Religions (such as Goddess spirituality, Asatru, and Wicca) and seek for ways of expressing our spirituality. We do this through holding meetings that may be workshops, discussion groups, or rituals commemorating the moons and seasons of the year. Workshops and discussion groups are open to anyone interested. Ritual meetings are open to anyone prepared to participate. Last year we met to celebrate each full moon, running these meetings as "teaching circles", so that new participants could learn the basis of constructing earth-based ritual. At present we're holding a series of workshops on topics of interests to pagans, and we're always on the lookout for people who wish to share their ideas, methods and knowledge, and those who wish simply to come along and learn.
When is the next meeting?

Welcome to Our Home Page! This is our web page to introduce UUPA to the world. If you've seen our ad in the Unitarian Universalist UUWorld magazine, found the UUPoly e-mail list, encountered one of our brochures, or found out about us some other way, this web site is a good place to learn some more. We are an independent "Related Organization" and as such are not a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association, or approved by the UUA Board of Trustees. Who We Are. UUPA is an organization which is in its early stages of growth. Over the past few years, we became increasingly aware that a lot of people who think of themselves as polyamorous also identify themselves religiously as Unitarian Universalists. Some of us then created an e-mail list called UUPoly, for people who were both poly and UU and those who are interested in both. Out of our conversations on the UUPoly list came the idea that we should form a national organization of poly UUs to promote awareness and acceptance of polyamory within the Unitarian Universalist denomination, and introduce polyamorus people to the UU church. A bunch of us (about 20) got together at the Unitarian Universalist Association's General Assembly in Nashville in June, 2000. There we agreed to move forward in the formation of UUPA.

Unitarians / Universalists
page: Unitarian Universalism is a Protestant denomination that supports freedom of religious thought, rejects dogma in favor of reason, and incorporates humanistic values in its teachings. The modern day Unitarian Universalist church in the United States came about with the merging of the two former denominations in 1961 to become the Unitarian Universalist Association. Historically, both denominations took progressive positions on the role of women and supported abolition of slavery and other social reforms. The combined denomination has been outspoken in support of human rightsincluding, since 1970, those of sexual minorities. Universalism Universalism arose in eighteenth-century England and America as a reaction to Calvinist doctrine that held that only a chosen few (the "elect") would be saved. Universalist ministers such as George de Benneville, who immigrated to American from Europe in 1741, and John Murray, who arrived from England in 1770, preached that salvation was attainable by all.
