  • Greetings!
On behalf of the congregation of Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church, I welcome you to our congregational website. For those of you who may be looking for a spiritual home, we offer a diverse religious community which encourages a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. Unitarian Universalism has developed over the centuries, from roots in the Judeo-Christian tradition and continues to evolve, drawing on many religions, philosophies and cultures. We do not have a single dogma or creed to which you must subscribe, and suggest instead that you are responsible for building your own theology. Our religious education program for adults and children is structured to help you and your family in this life-long task. We welcome all who come with open minds and loving hearts and celebrate the richness that diversity of theology, color, sexual orientation, and age brings to our lives. To follow the progress being made by the Long Range Planning Committee

Are you looking for a religious home?
*from We are Unitarian Universalists by Marta Flanagan
Unitarian Universalists are people who express themselves in these ways:
    • "I want a religion that respects the differences between people and affirms every person as an individual." "I want a church that values children, that welcomes them on their own terms - a church they're eager to attend on Sunday mornings." "I want a congregation that cherishes freedom and encourages open dialogue on questions of faith, one in which it is OK to change your mind." "I want a religious community that affirms spiritual exploration as a way of truth." "I want a church that thinks globally and acts locally on the great issues of our time: world peace, women's rights, racial justice, homelessness, gay and lesbian rights and protection of the environment."
We invite you to attend our services at 10:45am every Sunday. Our minister is the Rev Alice Syltie. During the service, children and teens participate in Religious Education (R.E.). After the service, we have fellowship and coffee in the Sanctuary. Please join us next Sunday!

The Rev. William G. Sinkford's Message in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina
Boston, August 30, 2005 ) The assault of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast reminds us once again of the awesome power of natural forces. Like so many others, I was shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of life and the massive devastation left in the wake of the hurricane. My prayers go out to those grieving for lost loved ones, and my hopes are with the thousands who face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives and communities. I am especially mindful that those unable to evacuate from the affected areas, the poor and the elderly, have suffered disproportionately from the ferocity of this hurricane. May this sorrowful event be an opportunity for us to exercise our compassion and provide what comfort we can.
