Adventists
A group of six American Protestant sects which hold in common a belief in the near return of Christ in person, and differ from one another mainly in their understanding of several doctrines related to this common belief. They are, excepting the "Seventh Day Adventists" and the branch entitled "The Church of God" congregational in government. The sects of Adventists are the outcome of a religious agitation begun by William Miller (1781-1849) in 1831, after a minute study of the prophecies of the Bible. Testing the mysterious pronouncements concerning the Messias by a method exclusively historical , he looked for the fulfillment of every prophecy in its obvious surface reading. Every prophecy which had not been literally accomplished in the first coming of Christ must needs be accomplished in His second coming. Christ , therefore, should return at the end of the world in the clouds of heaven to possess the land of Canaan , and to reign in an earthly triumph on the throne of David for a thousand years . Moreover, taking the 2,300 days of the

What are the beliefs of the Seventh Day adventists? What is Seventh Day Adventism?
http://www.gotquestions.org/sda.html
What are the beliefs of the Seventh Day Adventists?
Question: "What are the beliefs of the Seventh Day Adventists?" Answer
: There seem to be different "degrees" of Seventh Day Adventism. Some Seventh Day Adventists believe identically to orthodox Christians, other than believing that worship should be held on Saturday and that the Saturday Sabbath should still be observed. If these are the only differences, then yes, a person could be a Seventh Day Adventist and still be a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. However, some Seventh Day Adventists believe in much more than a Saturday Sabbath / worship day. Seventh Day Adventists have been known to believe in: the annihilation of the wicked instead of an eternal hell that believers who die enter a state of soul sleep and that a person must observe the Saturday Sabbath in order to be saved . Other problems with some Seventh Day Adventists are: belief in Ellen G. White, the founder of Seventh Day Adventism, as a true prophet of God even though many of her "prophecies" failed to come true - and - that Jesus entered a second phase of His redemptive work on October 22, 1844, as "prophesied" by Hiram Edson. So, are Seventh Day Adventists Christians? Should a Christian attend a Seventh Day Adventist church? Due to the potential doctrinal issues mentioned above, I would strongly encourage believers to not get involved in Seventh Day Adventism. Yes, a person can be an advocate of Seventh Day Adventism and still be a believer. At the same time, there are enough potential issues to make attending a Seventh Day Adventist church questionable at best.

By Laura Crane In exploring the views of different religions toward health, well-being, Western medicine, and death, we interviewed a variety of religious spokespersons. Although each religion has its own general guidelines, we found that there are frequently individual differences in interpretation and adherence. If you have questions or opinions that you'd like to share with us, please email our editorial staff The following answers were compiled with information from Mazie Nelson, RN and Health and Temperance Department Head, Toronto. Q: What is the Seventh Day Adventists' philosophy concerning health and well-being? A: From its founding in 1863, the faith has had a strong base in healthcare. Many Seventh Day Adventists choose a career in healthcare, and some visit churches from time to time to give seminars. Good health involves addressing the emotional state, eating and exercise regimens, and spiritual wellbeing. In some cases, the health of the congregation is monitored at the church. For instance, the blood pressures of members may be taken and recorded and, if necessary, visits to doctors are advised. Q: Does the Seventh Day Adventist Church have any dietary restrictions?

This study will be on the 7th Day Adventist. This cult began in the early 19th century by William Miller (1782-1849), who was a FALSE PROPHET! He predicted that the Lord Jesus Christ would return to Earth in glory on Mar. 21, 1844, and later on Oct. 22, 1844! Neither prophecy was fulfilled! Deuteronomy 18:20-22 "But the PROPHET, which shall presume to speak A WORD in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall WE KNOW the word which the LORD HATH NOT SPOKEN? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if THE THING follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD HATH NOT SPOKEN, but the prophet hath spoken it PRESUMPTUOUSLY: thou shalt not be afraid of him." The FALSE PROPHET is identified by speaking "A WORD" that does not come to pass. It does not matter how many times he's correct, it's how many times he's WRONG! Just ONE error is sufficient to make one a false prophet, regardless of whether he was correct 3000 times. When prophesying, the prophet is to bat nothing short of a 1.000. In other words, his prophesying MUST be accurate EVERY timenot 99.9% of the time. Therefore, William Miller was undoubtedly a FALSE PROPHET! Isaiah 8:20 "To the LAW and to the TESTIMONY: if they SPEAK NOT according to THIS WORD, it is because there is NO LIGHT in them."

History The Seventh Day Adventist church was formed in 1860 as an offshoot of the Millerite movement earlier in the 19th century. William Miller, a former New England minister, had a revelation that the Lord was to return and the Tribulation was to begin in 1843-44. Miller's calculations were based on his study of Daniel 8:14, which says that the holy place would be restored after 2,300 evenings and mornings. Miller interpreted this to mean “years” (based on the Jewish calendar) instead of “days,” and after a few failed predictions, settled on October, 22, 1844 as the day. Termed "The Great Disappointment," this day came and went without fanfare. On the morning following the Great Disappointment, Hiram Walker claimed to have a vision that confirmed that Miller had been right all along in his timing, just not in his application. Walker's vision, later confirmed by the church's prophetess, Ellen G. White, was that the event marked by the 1844 date was not the Second Coming of Christ, but His ascension into the Holy of Holies to sit at the right hand of God. This doctrine is called Investigative Judgment and is the basis for the SDA church. As the church grew in numbers and Mrs. White continued to have her visions, doctrines were added, revised and removed over the next 160 years. There are too many doctrinal corrections and contradictions to be included in the scope of this article, but for those who are interested

Remarks of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton at the Seventh Day Adventists Annual Religious Liberty Dinner
It's a special honor for me to have been asked to speak here tonight. I greatly admire the work that so many of you do both as a vocation and an avocation on behalf of religious liberty, and it is a great pleasure to be among you. I want to thank James for that introduction. He and I met about a year and half or two ago, and we have been working together on behalf religious freedom issues. And I was delighted when I was asked some months ago to speak here this evening. I know that you have a series of speakers, this is the third annual dinner, and it's also been a great pleasure to welcome a new Senate chaplain, Dr. Barry Glad, who is a Seventh Day Adventist, and to have that presence in our midst after his distinguished career in the military. There are so many of you who are from other countries who I have had the opportunity to greet in just the time that I've been here, and I think that is a wonderful tribute to this dinner and to the cause that it represents. To everyone who is responsible for starting this annual event and continuing it, I am very grateful. There are so many people here who I know and some who I have worked with in the past. I particularly want to acknowledge and thank everyone associated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church, with the Church's World, with the Liberty Magazine, the International Religious Liberty Association, and of course the World Headquarters.
