Pentecostal Assemblies of the World
The Pentecostal Assemblies of The World, Inc. (PAW) is the oldest Oneness-Pentecostal organization in existence, and was founded in 1906, formally organized in 1912 as adherents of trinitarian beliefs, and in 1916 re-organized as a Oneness-Pentecostal organization. The PAW was originally headquartered at Azusa Street in Los Angeles, California, moved to Oregon, and later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where it remains today.
Its origin can be traced to the Azusa Street revival (1906-1909) under the leadership of Elder William Joseph Seymour. During this time it was a loose fellowship of churches that were united by the infilling of the believer with the Holy Ghost, and holiness. Some would later refer to this experience as "the latter rain".
For the next few years, the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World focused upon general meetings and the development of its organizational structure. The late Bishop Morris E. Golder wrote: "The original organization bearing the name of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World came into existence in the year of 1906 in the city of Los Angeles, State of California." The late Bishop G. T. Haywood concurs with this fact, writing in the Voice In The Wilderness in 1921: "It (The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World) was started in 1906 in Los Angeles, California."
This was also the position asserted by Bishop Ross Paddock, the former Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. He declared that after one year of being organized, the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World had its first annual business meeting and that, at the same time, it was Trinitarian in its doctrine and liturgy of water baptism.

A branch of the Pentecostal branch of Christianity Oneness Pentecostalism is based on strict unitarian monotheism . They believe in the one God , and the complete and full deity of Jesus . They reject the doctrine of the Trinity . According to Oneness Theology, this one God does not have three Persons but rather is exclusively God the Father. God is not a plurality of persons, minds, individuals or multiplicity of consciences, but does have a plurality of manifestations, roles, titles, attributes, or relationships to man (while God's titles are many Oneness people generally refer to God in three manifestations.) Oneness Statements of Faith generally will make some assertion to the threeness of God as father in Creation, Son in Redemption, and Holy Spirit in emmination." Jesus-Only doctrine or Sabellianism . Many Trinitarian Christians believe it to be a heresy. Oneness Pentecostals deny that claim, and do not use the term "Jesus-Only doctrine" themselves. In fact, they often describe themselves not as "Jesus-Only", but rather "Jesus-Everything", in reference to their belief that the Godhead is fully manifest in Christ.

and The pentecostal assemblies of the world was consummated in November 1931. The merger adopted the name of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ.

Road to the Merger by: J.L. Hall When The Assemblies of God adopted the doctrine of the trinity at its Fourth General Council in October 1916, the Oneness Pentecostals were forced to withdraw from the organization. Two months later, in late December and early January, Oneness ministers met in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and on January 2, 1917, they formed a Oneness Pentecostal organization, called The General Assembly of the Apostolic Assemblies. In late 1917 or early 1918 The General Assemblies of the Apostolic Assemblies merged with The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and then held its first meeting in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, later in the same year. This interracial organization, which adopted the name of The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, was the only Oneness Pentecostal organization until late 1924, when a separation occurred mainly along racial lines. During 1925 three new organizations were formed: The Apostolic Churches of Jesus Christ, The Pentecostal Ministerial Alliance, and Emmanuel's Church in Jesus Christ. This organizational division among Oneness people was not desired, however, and in 1927 the first step was taken toward bringing them back together. Meeting in a joint convention in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Emmanuel's Church in Jesus Christ and The Apostolic Churches of Jesus Christ merged under the name The Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. This merger, which united about 400 ministers, was consummated at the next General Convention held in Port Arthur, Texas, in October 1928.

Early Pentecostals in St. Louis, Missouri By J.L. Hall When Glenn Cook came to St. Louis in January 1915, he came to "Mother" Moise faith home to tell her and her staff about water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. After he conducted Bible study with them, showing them that in the New Testament water baptism was always administered in the name of Jesus Christ and not in the titles of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, he baptized "Mother" Moise and her entire staff at the home in the Mississippi River. The number baptized was about forty, including Ben Pemberton, a student in her ministerial Bible training school. Born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1850, Maria Moise, who later came to be known as "Mother" Moise, and her family moved to St. Louis in the 1880s. About 1900, she began work as a volunteer in an Episcopal Church mission to minister to wayward girls. In 1904, she was awarded a first prize at the World's Fair held in St. Louis for her work at the mission. "Mother" Moise

" Pentecost is an experience not a denomination. " Heading of a United Pentecostal Church International web site.
Overview:
The Pentecostal family of denominations form one branch within conservative Christianity. A major defining feature of Pentecostalism is their belief in Glossolalia , or the ability to speak " in tongues ". Another is the unusual freedom and spontaneity exhibited during their religious services. Otherwise, their beliefs, practices and social policies are similar to those of other conservative Christians. Pentecostalism is a highly fragmented family within Christianity; one source lists 177 separate denominations.
History of Pentecostalism:
Pentecostalism is a relatively modern branch of Christianity. It grew out of the Holiness movement, which in turn had roots in Methodism Robert Longman Jr. (1) has listed a number of mid to late 19th century writings from within the Holiness movement which laid the foundations for Pentecostalism: 1845 : Article by John Morgan in the Oberlin Quarterly (issue 1, p.115)

The Assemblies of God (General Council of the Assemblies of God)
General Notes The Assemblies of God is the largest denomination of what are collectively called the “Pentecostal” Churches. A core belief of the Assembly of God Churches is that the charismatic experience of Pentecost and the early Christian Church is essential and continues today. The primary expression of that experience is glossolalia, or speaking in tongues. The Bible is interpreted literally and is seen as the primary source of all Christian religious truth. Individual congregations are loosely affiliated and may differ widely in specific practices and details of living out the Christian faith. The Assemblies of God has no official stand on most issues. There is a strong belief in finding direction on particular issues through prayer, seeking guidance from the Bible, and by direct inspiration from God. Specific Religious Practices Sunday is seen as the Lord’s Day and should be a day of worship and rest. Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are observed but with no special required celebration. Baptism by immersion and Holy Communion are seen as “ordinances of the church” rather than as sacraments (defined as communicating God’s grace). Holy Communion is usually celebrated once per month. Understanding of Healing Direct healing by God and deliverance from sickness is seen as the privilege of all believers. Members pray for the sick with the laying on of hands and anointing with oil. While standard medical care is usually sought there is at times a sense of opposition between faith and medical science.

Fall 2003 Christ Temple Apostolic Church is a Pentecostal church. Well known for its outreach and evangelism, Christ Temple has a growing membership. Fervent prayer, an active Sunday School, and lively services characterize the church. Its roots lie in the beginning of the Pentecostal faith, and it is affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW). As a ministerial organization, the congregation of Christ Temple is affiliated with the PAW through the pastor. The congregation owns the church building, which it runs independently. The District Elder may help find and approve pastors when asked; however, the congregation makes the ultimate decision in the appointment of pastors. According to the PAW, the Pentecostal faith and the Pentecostal Assemblies of the world are the continuation of the great revival that began in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, AD 33. While in prayer, the Apostles and prophets bean spontaneously to speak in tongues. This was understood as evidence that they had received the Holy Spirit. Receiving the Holy Spirit along with salvation through Jesus Christ and baptism are the foundations of the Pentecostal faith. The Apostolic faith is an extension of Pentecostal Christianity based on Acts 2.

    LIFE AFTER THE AZUSA REVIVAL
The dimming of the Azusa Street revival by 1908 would have ordinarily spelled trouble for a young movement, especially if it were tightly organized. But the Pentecostal movement had rolled past Azusa, into the Pacific Northwest and the Southeast. There were now plenty of elsewheres to go. Schools, book and pamphlet printers, traveling evangelists, musicians, camps, and an absolutely sizzling network of word-of-mouth communication, all sprung up almost overnight seemingly out of nowhere. (This was before air transport and mass electronic media; cars were few and slow, package delivery technology was crude, and many of the areas where Pentecostalism grew fastest did not yet have electric or telephone service.) Pentecostalism's lack of organization served it very well. There were also plenty of others than Seymour and Parham to lead them. Some of them were charlatans, others honestly held bizarre 'the-end-is-here' beliefs. But there were many capable leaders who were faithful and able to step up to the front, like Charles H. Mason

Pentecostalism, worldwide 20th-century Christian movement that emphasizes the experience of Spirit baptism, generally evidenced by speaking in tongues ( glossolalia ). The name derives from Pentecost , the Greek name for the Jewish Feast of Weeks, which falls on the fiftieth day after Passover. On this day the Holy Spirit descended upon the first Christians enabling them to “speak in other tongues” (see Acts 2:1–4). Besides glossolalia, Pentecostals promote other gifts of the Spirit (

    Pentecostalism
By Gary E. Gilley Pentecostalism has become the fastest growing segment of Christianity. "It is growing at a rate of 13 million a year, or 35,000 a day. With nearly a half billion adherents, it is, after Roman Catholicism, the largest Christian tradition" ( Christian History , "The Rise of Pentecostalism," issue no. 58, vol. XVII no. 2, p.3). In addition, the largest church in the world (the Yoi Do Full Gospel Church) is a Pentecostal church in Korea, pastored by David Yonggi Cho , with a weekly worship attendance of 240,000. Two Pentecostal Churches in Buenos Aires attract together 150,000 each week (ibid.). Just who are the Pentecostals, how did they originate, and what do they believe? The intent of this report is to answer these questions.
    Pentecostal History
Most consider the father of Pentecostalism to be Charles Parham, a young college student from Kansas with roots in the Methodist Church. While the Wesleys (John & Charles) could not be defined as Pentecostals, their theology laid the foundation upon which the Pentecostal movement would be built. Principally, it was the Methodist view that sanctification was a second work of grace, separate from salvation, coupled with the Holiness belief of a third experience, the "Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire," that intrigued Parham. Parham was also influenced by a fresh desire within his denominational circles to experience divine healing and speaking in tongues practices that most Christians at the end of the nineteenth century believed had ceased with the Apostolic age.
