A redefinition of our conceptions of what paganism was at this period will be For once it is admitted that paganism was not a religion but an attitude

THE DEMISE OF PAGANISM
BY JAMES J. O'DONNELL
Traditio
There exists a large, remarkably homogeneous literature on the conflict between paganism and Christianity in the last decades of the fourth century. This study is a preliminary attempt to re-examine that conflict and point out new lines for interpretation of familiar evidence. A redefinition of our conceptions of what paganism was at this period will be followed by a close study of the men and events around whom the traditional narratives of its last revivals have been constructed. A concluding section will outline the ways in which, according to the new definitions proposed here, paganism may be said to have survived its apparent destruction. This is only, to repeat, a preliminary study. It focuses chiefly upon the same relatively narrow body of evidence which has formed the core of previous studies of the subject, in an attempt to show how even that evidence is susceptible of some radically new interpretations. The ideas contained in this paper grew out of a long-standing fascination with Augustine's De civitate Dei and a desire to appreciate more precisely the polemical situation in which that work is to be understood. If the conclusions of this preliminary study have any merit, they will need to be refined and strengthened by further work on just such subjects as Augustine's monument of apologetic. It is to facilitate such work and to excite discussion that this paper is published now.

44. The Pagan Roots Of The Fascist Culture
Harun Yahya examines the contribution of paganism and Hellenistic philosophy to fascism.
http://www.islamdenouncesantisemitism.com/thepagan.htm
Language Turkce Deutsch
The Pagan Roots Of The Fascist Culture HARUN YAHYA Print article E-mail article Fascism is an ideology which has its roots in Europe. The foundations of fascism were laid by a number of European thinkers in the 19th century, and it was put into practice in the 20th century by such European counties as Italy and Germany. Other countries which were influenced by fascism and adopted it 'imported' the ideology from Europe. So in order to examine the roots of fascism, we must turn to the history of Europe. European history has naturally gone through many stages and periods. But looking at it in the broadest sense, we can divide into three fundamental periods from the cultural point of view:
  • The pre-Christian (pagan) period. The period when Christianity assumed cultural dominance in Europe The post-Christian (materialist) period
  • The idea of what we have described as 'The post-Christian period' may strike many readers as odd. Because Christianity is still by far the majority religion in European society. But many ideologies and philosophies opposing Christianity, materialist philosophy being the most important, had become increasingly influential by the 19th century.

We are not a cult. This religion is not a joke. We are not what you think we are from looking at T.V. We are real. We laugh, we cry. We are serious. We have a sense of humor. 52. Common Misconceptions About Buddhism
Examines misconceptions about reincarnation, prayer, paganism, and so forth.
    http://www.livingdharma.org/Misconceptions.html
    Some Common Misconceptions
    About Buddhism in America
    "Buddhism is a 'pagan' religion"
"Paganism" is usually used to refer to belief in a god or gods other than the normally accepted Christian God. However, Buddhists don't concern themselves about God or god(s). Buddhists concern themselves with the Dharma, which is not a god or gods. It is "truth" or "reality." Thus, when sad or tragic events occur in our lives or the lives of our loved ones - as they inevitably will - Buddhists don't have to ask "Why did this happen?" This is because Buddhists don't hold onto the belief that there is a god "looking out" for his or her welfare. Buddhism is really an attitude of accepting the inevitable changes or impermanence of life, and of being grateful for every moment we are alive.
    "All Buddhists believe in reincarnation"
This misconception is understandable, given that Tibetan Buddhists (such as the Dalai Lama), who do believe in a form of reincarnation, are perhaps the most "visible" of the many sects of Buddhism. Also, watching recent movies like Little Buddha

An information and family page from Terra So Luna's tribe. Included are book reviews, helpful hints for the elementary grades, why Waldorf fits perfectly with paganism, and calendarbased activities.
    http://hometown.aol.com/TerraSoLuna/index.html
htmlAdWH('93212816', '728', '90'); Main Other Academic Interests We began homeschooling over 10 years ago, when my oldest daughter, now 16, started Kindergarten. The first year, I used simple library books and workbooks that she enjoyed. By the time the next year came, I had done massive research and had purchased an Oak Meadow curriculum, on the advice in a book by a Christian woman who wasn't pleased with its overt pantheism...that critique sold me!! Erika enjoyed that year, and the next three, immensely. She then decided to go to public school for Fifth grade, and did quite well. She is very social, and is naturally intune with the particular learning style of the public schools.
I now have two sons that homeschool. They are 13 and 8. My two-year-old hangs around us, playing on his own or with the two little daycare boys I have daily. I decided to make a page of links and info that have helped our family. We find the Waldorf inspired daily rhythms and learning styles fit perfectly with our religion, Paganism, and the Wheel of the Year, or nature holidays that we celebrate. Many of the links and information presented are with that particular bias, since it is simply what I know and how we do things.
A mailing list especially for Waldorf Education Homeschoolers began about 8 months ago. If you are interested in this high volume, very interesting and helpful list, register at

Being typical pagans, we like as little structure as possible. 15) Is brutal honesty or polite conversation the preferred mode of conversation around here? People tend to get a little rowdy around here sometimes, so don't let it get to you. One of the disadvantages to this type of communication is the increased possibility of misunderstanding due to the inability to see the person and hear his or her vocal inflections, see their facial expressions, et cetera. It's generally frowned upon to attack someone baselessly, but there is no problem with disagreeing with someone vigorously vociferously, even. Try being constructive. 16) What are some of the related newsgroups? (This list subject to change at any time) alt.religion.wicca alt.religion.druid
