Organization of the Province Church History A Brief Account of the Moravian Church, Southern Province ... Daily Text
Our Origins For more than four centuries the Moravian Church has proclaimed the gospel in all parts of the world. Its influence has far exceeded its numbers as it has cooperated with religious faiths on every continent. Proud of its heritage and firm in its faith, the Moravian Church ministers to people wherever they are. The name Moravian identifies that this historic church had its origin in ancient Bohemia and Moravia in what is present-day Czechoslovakia. In the mid-ninth century these countries converted to Christianity chiefly through the influence of two Greek Orthodox missionaries, Cyril and Methodius. They translated the Bible into the common language and introduced a national church ritual. In the centuries that followed, Bohemia and Moravia gradually fell under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Rome, but some of the Czech people protested. Standard Bearer of Protestantism Actually the Moravian Church is recognized as the Standard Bearer of Protestantism. The church's first members were the forerunners of what became known as the Protestant Reformation. They were the followers of the great preacher and educator John Hus (1369-1415). Hus was dean of the philosophical faculty of the University of Prague and was twice elected Rector of the University.

Ephraim's Historical Heritage
Ephraim's historic places include the site of the first landing by Pastor Iverson in 1853, the site of the first Moravian Church (1858), the Pioneer Schoolhouse (1880), the Anderson store and dock warehouse, as well as the Anderson Barn and eight homes more than a century old.
Anderson's Store and Dock have been depicted over and over by artists and photographed by thousands. The dock building originally served as a warehouse for the store; later it held fish, orchard crops, lumber and farm products for shipment by boat. Much later it was Ephraim's first improvised movie theater, with viewers sitting on planks supported by kegs found in the warehouse. Today the warehouse siding is completely carved and painted with the names of boaters who have docked there.
The Foundation was established in 1949 and it plays a substantial role in helping to preserve the community's values by working with the Ephraim Village board and other community groups. Its purpose was clearly set forth in Article I of its by-laws:
... to preserve and foster preservation of historical monuments, buildings, structures, sites, documents, relics; and to foster the development of cultural services, including libraries, art, and historical museums, adult education and other civic services, especially within the Village of Ephraim, but also including the State of Wisconsin, and to do all things necessary, including the purchasing and selling of real estate to carry out these purposes.

Our Mission
"We are committed, with the help of the Holy Spirit: to lead people to an active relationship with Christ, worship God, join Christ's family, follow Him, nurture one another and serve the needs of all people." St. Paul's has been helping people connect with God and other people since our beginning in 1970. We serve as a gathering place for groups as varied as the Citizens Association of Marlton, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Mothers of Marlton, and the Southern Maryland Caged Bird Club. Our members come from many religious backgrounds, including Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Episcopal, Roman Catholic, Assemblies of God and Brethren Churches and even a few former atheists. Our backgrounds and traditions may be different, but we share a common faith in Christ and are part of a wonderful spiritual family at St. Paul's. We welcome anyone who wants to know God and be part of His Church. We are proud to be an interracial congregation. If you are seeking a closer relationship with God and want to be part of a caring Christian family then you will feel at home at St. Paul's.

New Beginnings Moravian Church Letter from Our Pastor! Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As we contemplate the still unfolding devastation of Katrina's fury and continuing concerns about rising gas prices, job losses, war, world tensions, and personal challenges, I have been moved in my prayers once again to the 46 Psalm where God promises His people that He is " our refuge and our strength, an ever present help in trouble... The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. " Together let us continue to claim hope and healing through the greatest privilege we have prayer.

(Redirected from Moravian (religion) A Moravian is a Protestant belonging to a religious movement that originated in Moravia Czech Republic . This was brought to the United States in the early by immigrants originating from settlements on the estates of Count Nicolas Ludwig von Zinzendorf in what is now Germany The original attempt to found a Moravian community was in Georgia , but that attempt failed. The Moravians later found a home in Pennsylvania , where the colony provided some of the greatest religious freedom to be found in the world. The towns of Bethlehem Nazareth and Emmaus , Pennsylvania were founded as Moravian communities. Later, colonies were founded in North Carolina , starting with Wachovia , and later Bethabara Bethania and Salem (now Winston-Salem Bethlehem became the headquarters of the northern church, and Winston-Salem became the headquarters of the southern church.
