    Challenging the ‘Wahhabi’-American Imperialist Nexus
By Abida Shah The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia proclaims itself as the defender of Islam, and its king styles himself as the ‘custodian of the two holy places’ (haramain sharifain), the two sacred cities of Mecca and Medina. Although Islam is stiffly opposed to the institution of monarchy, the Saudi state represents one of the few remaining absolute monarchies in the world. The kingdom is named after its ruling dynasty, and the king has powers probably unparalleled in the rest of the world. No dissent is allowed, and the kingdom is run on the personal whims of its ruler and his large family. In other words, it represents the exact opposite of the democratic and relatively open state established by the Prophet in Medina. We [America] need their [Saudi Arabia’s] oil and therefore we have to make sure that they are friendly and therefore we are engaged in protecting their security. They, at the same time, are almost completely dependent on us for their security in a region in which they are very vulnerable and very rich, so there’s a kind of a curious, though asymmetrical, interdependence here. What the Saudis allowed the United States to do over in that part of the world was to set up a de facto infrastructure by purchasing airfields, by purchasing very modern ports, by purchasing a lot of American equipment, theoretically to support their forces, by buying a lot of American equipment that would use the same type of facilities that our forces needed. So, in effect, we had a replica of US airfields and ports all over in that part of the world paid for by the Saudis to be used by the United States when and if we had to go over there.

    Misconceptions About Taqleed
By: Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen al-Albaani Misconception No .1. Some say, " There is no doubt that it is obligatory to return to the guidance of our Prophet (s.a.w.) in the matters of our Deen, especially in the recommended acts of worship such as Prayer, where there is no room for opinion or ijtihaad, due to their immutable nature. However we hardly hear any of the muqallid shaikhs propounding this; in fact we find them upholding difference of opinion, which they regard as flexibility for the Ummah. Their proof for this is the hadeeth which they repeatedly quote in such circumstances, when refuting the helpers of the Sunnah ‘The difference of opinion (ikhtilaaf) among my Ummah is a mercy (rahmah)’ It seems to us that this hadeeth contradicts the principles to which you invite and based on which you have compiled this book and others. So, what do you say about this hadeeth? " Answer: The answer is from two angles: First of All: This hadeeth is not authentic; in fact it is false and without foundation. Allama Subki said, "I have not come across an authentic or weak or fabricated chain of narration for it", i.e. no chain of narrators exists for this "hadeeth"! It has also been related with the wordings: "... the difference of opinion among my companions is a mercy for you" and "My companions are like the stars, so whichever of them you follow, you will be guided" Both of these are not authentic; the former is very feeble; the latter is fabricated.

    Introduction:
Since October 2000, we have information that six persons have been arrested under the draconian Internal Security Act (ISA). Two people have been released since then in which one has been released on condition. Out of the remaining four, three have been sent to Kamunting detention center on a two year detention order whereas one more person is undergoing the initial sixty days detention period.
The actual reason of their detention in not known and there has been no press news on this detention. Family members contacted say that they do not know anything about their detention order. It is believed that they have been arrested under the ISA because they are followers of the Shia teachings, a sect within the Muslim community. We are led to believe that these people were detained purely on the grounds of their faith.

    Introduction
In the Holy Quran, Allah (SWT) says "It is he who has sent his apostle with guidance and the religion of truth so that he may make it prevail over all religions even though those who worship false Gods may detest it" (Quran 9:33). Even though the United States, Russia and all the superpowers may detest it. Allah's promise is not conditional on the strength of the superpowers. In its widest sense the Islamic movement spans the entire ummah, in its narrowest it represents that part of the ummah which is most advanced in its struggle towards establishing Islam as a total way of life.
This campaign against Iran is nothing new. Right from the beginning vested interests have carried on an unending campaign against the Islamic revolution in Iran. this evening our guest speaker, Mr. Ahmad Deedat who is a distinguished scholar of Islam, who hardly needs any introduction to the public and who has just returned from his trip to Iran, will present to us his first hand account on Iran. I now call upon Mr. Ahmad Deedat to speak to you.(applause).

Congratulations on your movement. Surely, I will be one of many who discovered you through the article in the Advocate magazine.
After browsing your website and reading the many incredibly hateful comments from homophobic muslims, I thought why would you chose to cause all this ruckus.
Then, I thought what if Gandhi gave up or Martin Luther King said,"it's too much trouble."
There will be many years and much tears shed(probably blood as well) until there is any semblance of tolerance in the Islamic community on gay rights. However, you can take comfort in having begun the movement.

The Darul Uloom is an Islamic institute, in which emphasis is not only on Islamic education but also on the Tarbiyah, (Islamic training and upbringing of students). Along with a sound education, our main objective is to impart good morals, manners, ethics, etiquettes, traits and habits which conform to Islamic teachings to our students.
However this can only be achieved by an input from all those who are involved in this effort, namely, the Darul Uloom, teachers and students.
The role of the Darul Uloom and the teachers and students is to impart proper teachings through theory and practice while the role of the students is obedience and compliance.
In this regard, the following guidelines are given to students so that they may understand what is required and expected from them.

AL-KHARAJ AND RELATED ISSUES:A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF EARLY ISLAMIC SCHOLARLY THOUGHTS AND THEIR RECEPTION BY WESTERN ECONOMISTS Introduction
The issue of kharaj (tax on agricultural land) was among the issues that were important during the early and medieval centuries of Islam. This was due to the fact that as the territories of the Islamic empire expanded, the cost of managing and administering the state increased correspondingly. Hence, a number of works had been written on kharaj and taxation policies. The works differ in certain aspects; some are judiciary works (like that written by Abu Yusuf), while others are simply collections of traditions on kharaj or works by katibs (tax collectors and administrators) that described the ways through which kharaj was collected and accounted for. Unfortunately, most of the works seem to have disappeared in the course of time or parts there from being absorbed in later works. A. Ben Shemesh states that there have been some twenty-one works on the issue of kharaj, but only three have survived the ravages of time, that is, those written by at-Qadi Abu Yusuf, Yahya bin Adam and Qudama bin Ja'afar. (These works have been translated into English by Ben Shemesh, but unfortunately, translations by Muslim scholars are still to be expected) In order to understand the nature of these works, it would be beneficial if we know a brief history of these scholars and the time and place they lived. All the three scholars lived during the period of the Abbassid Caliphate. The earliest among them was Abu Yusuf (731-798 C.E.) who was a disciple of Imam Abu Hanifa, the founder of the Hanafi school, followed by Yahya bin Adam (752-818 C.E.) and Qudama bin Ja'afar (? -932 C.E.). Diagram 2 illustrates the time frame of the Caliphate times during which the three lived.

It could also explain Rapture-that is that we have to be taken out of the way by Allah in order for this peace to reign. This info is about how Islam views the return of Jesus in the end times.
Please note that this does not agree with the Christian’s view of the return of Jesus nor do I believe that this is how Jesus will return.
This outline is taken from a book More than a Prophet by Emir and Ergun Caner. (The title refers to Jesus, for those who are interested.) This particular part they attribute to Mufti AH Elias “Jesus (Isa) AS in Islam, and His Second Coming” He provides 30 blessings attributed to the “prophet” Jesus whom I will call Isa as Islam does to prevent casual readers from thinking it really has to do with the Christian Jesus. The authors do not believe Islam has any more importance than any other religion in the end times events. Any extra comments I make will be made in red.

    INTRODUCTION
My topic for this gathering is to articulate a program for the Renewal of Muslim communities, which was encouraged by Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri and Sister Aliya Haeri and inspired by the overall theme which is ‘Living Islam’ and a motivation for a better life for mankind.
My task is to take you through a panoramic view, which will firstly, explain the cancerous problems of Muslim communities and secondly a possible cure so that we can experience the ‘living Islam’ through the renewal and the revival of the message of Islam.
The symptomatic view of the cancerous problems are summarised to four points though many other problems can be discussed, however the main task of this talk is to formulate a solution for a renewal of Muslim communities.
