We are in the midst of an unspeakable tragedy on America’s gulf coast. Every hour of every day, the news from the streets of New Orleans seems to get worse, not better. This isn’t the way it is supposed to be. For those of us at a geographical distance, we see the sights and we wince. For those up close, the smell, the depravity, the heat, and – yes – the death toll make each day seem more hopeless than hopeful. All of us at Grace Matters pray for the strength of those who suffer. We pray for those whose future is evaporating before their eyes. But most of all, we pray that God’s grace would inspire every person in this country to give where they can, of themselves or of their resources. Let the doctors and nurses, the flood engineers and social workers working that Gulf Coast, have every ounce of support they can possibly receive. And may the presence of God in all our hearts unite us with these desperate refugees on our own shores. In faith and hope for better days

Introduction Martin Luther, whose religious reforms and beliefs we follow, was a trendsetter. With the technology of his time, the printing press, he strived to make religious texts and his ideas about faith available to all.
With the technology of our time, we also strive to make God's word available to all. The advent of the Internet allows us to spread the faith farther and more effectively than we could have ever imagined before. New @ Lutheran.Net New things are coming... I know we've said this in the past, but prepare for an overhaul!! posted by tmarman on 8/16/2002 11:01:39 AM Happenings... Well, we have some good lunet_news about the site. First of all, everything has been ironed out with the site as far as those MySQL errors you probably saw in the past weeks. We also have the ability to fix them now, so in the future downtime should be greatly reduced. As well, we have been talking to a number of individuals who are interested in writing and providing other content for the site.

Date: 30 Aug 2005
By: Melissa Wilson

Aug 30— ALMATY, Kazakstan: Anrey has many hours and days to remember his past while he waits locked away in an Eastern Europe prison. He is a young man with no visitors, no family, and no friends. And yet, because of Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) - Kazakstan, he rejoices everyday.
Anrey did not have a relationship with God as a child. In fact, he believed God to be a story of mythology, a fairy-tale set far, far away. As a poor man, Anrey dreamt of wealth and treasures and, with the help of some friends, he began to rob houses.
His friends grew in numbers, as did their number of robberies and their enjoyment of the plunder. Until one day, the police caught one of Anrey's friends. Scared by the arrest, Anrey quit stealing . for a while. "Quitting turned out to be much more difficult than I expected," Anrey later confessed.
