The Ratcliffe family was started in Endingen, Aargau Switzerland on the 31st August 2001. Our family was then sealed for time and all eternity on the 31st August 2001 in the Zollikofen Switzerland Temple. Our family consists of two members currently, but we are working on obeying the Lord by multiplying and replenishing the earth. From November 2001 until April 2002, we lived in Swinton, Manchester, England, United Kingdom (UK). Then from April 2002 until April 2003 we lived in Connah's Quay, Wales, UK. After that we lived from June 2003 until September 2004 in Ewloe, Wales, UK from where we moved to Switzerland. At the end of September 2004 we moved to Endingen, Switzerland and lived in Sabine's mum's house for a few months, but now have our own place again in Neuenhof. This web site will include links to sites that our family members enjoy.

The data was based on organizational reporting. Adherents.com has correlated these data with results from the 1990 Kosmin/NSRI (National Survey of Religious Identification) study (nationwide, phone survey-based; sample size: 113,000). For Latter-day Saint statistics, the match between the two data sets is very close: In exactly one half of the states, the Kosmin (self-identification) figure was slightly higher than the Glenmary (organizational reporting) figure; in the other half the Glenmary figure was slightly higher.

The Journey is the Reward: Tracing Scandinavian Latter-day Saints
A new page has been created documenting the first hand accounts of several LDS Scandinavian voyages and the subsequent overland journey.
Warning: This page is large and takes some time to load and if printed would be over 300 pages long.
A book has been created to assist you in your search of ancestry from the Scandinavian Mission from 1852-1881. It is free and it is available now. To learn more about this book go to the Journey is the Reward book page.
The purpose of this page is to provide step-by-step procedures to trace the emigration of members of the LDS church from the Scandinavian Mission in the time period of 1852-1868.
History
Understanding the emigration begins with an understanding of the history of the Scandinavian Mission and the emigration itself. A Brief History of the Scandinavian Mission provides an overview while the articles Mormon Influence on Scandinavian Settlement in Nebraska and Scandinavians to Zion: From the Old World to the New World provide more details on some migration patterns.

56. Mormons And Danites: The Historical Background In Missouri
Discussion of the history of persecution and trouble for latterday saints ( Mormons ) in Missouri in the late 1830s.
http://www.jefflindsay.com/LDSFAQ/FQ_Missouri.shtml
What Was the 1838 Mormon War?
This page provides historical background on the persecution of Mormons in Missouri, leading to the 1838 Extermination Order. The setting in Missouri, the activities of mobs and militias, and the Mormon effort at self-defense are outlined, along with background on the development of the infamous Danites. This page offers supplementary information to my page on The 1838 Mormon War and Tales of the "Danites" . That page should be consulted first for quick answers to major questions on the Danites and the 1838 conflict in Missouri. This is one page in the suite of Frequently Asked Questions About Latter-day Saint Beliefs . It is the personal work of Jeff Lindsay and does not necessarily reflect official LDS doctrine.

Background: The Danites Bibliography
An Overview of the Danites and the Church in Missouri
The Danites
The term "Danites" is typically used to refer to a short-lived, secretive band of Mormons organized by Sampson Avard in 1838. The Danites apparently were organized in June of 1838 to defend the Mormons from internal enemies who had stirred up much prejudice and even violence against the Saints. In June, several dissidents from the Church were given a letter signed by Avard (the first signer) and 83 others urging them to leave immediately, which they did. Other dissidents stayed on but apparently became more quiet. With the threat of internal dissidents largely removed, the Danites evolved by the fall of 1838 into a defensive group to protect the Saints from the external threat of mobsters.
