Background Information: Egypt, called Kemet (KMT) by the Africans, was a Black nation. The unification of Upper and Lower Kemet into one nation began the Dynastic era of Kemet. In the first 1,000 years of Dynastic Kemet during the first six Dynasties, most of the pyramids were built. Imhotep, a genius, designed the first pyramid for King Djoser as his burial place. Pyramids are symbols of life, perfection, knowledge, and communal effort. The largest pyramid of all is the "Great Pyramid" at Giza, built for King Khufu. The Great Pyramid contains over 2.3 million limestones, each as large as 10-15 tons. Limestone, a self cleaning stone, was used to build most of the pyramids. Kemetic art and architecture was directly related to its functional intent. Robert and Deborah Lawlor, translators for author Schwaller de Lubicz, state:

ASET - The Difference - ISIS
ISIS or her more ancient Egyptian name ASET , seems like two different deities if you take a closer look. When the worship of ISIS rose in Greek and Roman days, ASET had already been forgotten for hundreds of years, at this time only a small group of priests still knew how to read the hieroglyphs of the temple walls. The Greek and Roman way of superimposing their cultural values on Egyptian culture affected the interpretation of the original ASET , depriving her of her Egyptian origin and turning her into Roman deity. The most outstanding difference between them is in my opinion the fierceness of Aset which we can find in the myths, along with her role as a funerary deity. This is not so with Isis who is a much more benevolent and one-size-fits-all kind of a deity.
This image shows an almost schematic picture of how Aset merged with Isis.

    Origin
Isis, or Aset, as the original, ancient Egyptian name is, goes far back into history. The first time her name appears is in the Pyramid Texts, Utterance #4 dated to the Old Kingdom, Dynasty 5. One must suspect that she already at this time was well established in the Egyptian pantheon, by tradition, as she was among the deities required for the kingship to move on towards a life in the Hereafter.
    The Name of Aset
Aset, or Ay-see as it is believed to have been, is written with the hieroglyph for "throne" or "seat". This indicates that she was seen as the one who supported the king and from which he rose. She was considered the King-maker. This was the case in early African cultures and is still to some degree today. So the name of Aset can probably be taken to mean "The Seat/Throne" of the king. Thereby she was the King´s symbolical mother and as such of special significance to him, but in these early days she was not a general mother goddess whom everyone turned to.

    The Religion of Ancient Egypt
Bast originates in ancient Egypt or, as it was known to its people in antiquity, "Kemet". Egypt or "Aigyptos" is a Greek word, and originally referred to Men-Nefer or Memphis, the city of Ptah. Traditionally, the religion She springs from is typecast by the mainstream public as polytheistic in nature. Modern Egyptology has questioned this label, and the ground-breaking book Conceptions of God in Ancient Egypt: The One and the Many by Erik Hornung introduced a new label: monolatry. That is, a belief system with one god who can take on multiple faces (the One and the Many). By that definition, people who purport that the religion of ancient Egypt was a polytheism are half correct. However, the numerous references to deity in the singular throughout religious texts from antiquity should not be ignored (the priests of antiquity often prided themselves in texts on knowing all the "names" of Netjer, or God). Kemet was influenced in its twilight era by two classically polythetistic cultures: the Roman Empire (which would absorb ancient Egypt completely) and the Greeks (who would rule it for a short period of time). With the hieroglyphic language lost for numerous centuries, it is easy to see how it became miscategorized. However, just as one could not call the Yoruba or Hindu religions strictly polytheistic, so also one would not do the same with Kemetic religion.

    by Bouneith Inejnema Naba
The MTAM School of Kemetic Philosophy and Spirituality is the only authentic school outside of the secret ³mystery school² initiation camps of West Africa that offers traditional Kemetic spiritual instruction. Among the classes offered at the MTAM School are Medu-Myeet (initiation language, commonly known as hieroglyphs), Kaat Ib (Kemetic meditation techniques from which modern mediation and yoga have based their practices) and Traditional Healing Certification (focusing on diagnosing, traditional healing techniques and educating students on modern medical myths). One group of students have graduated the Ka¹at Ib Instructors program, and another class will be graduating in a few months. A new semester of classes is beginning January 3rd, and registration is now open. The Kaat Ib education is unlike any other that can be found in this country. Taught by Master Naba Lamoussa Morodenibig, it is the only Kemetic Meditation class that is taught by an authentic Dogon Priest and Spiritual Master. Master Naba, originally from Burkina Faso, West Africa, was educated into the traditional "mystery school" initiations at age eight and has since become the world¹s most recognized and authentic authority in Kemetic Spirituality. Because of his advanced mastery of the initiatic knowledge, the committee of elders appointed Master Naba as the only High Priest/Spiritual Master who may initiate seekers in the Diaspora into the traditional initiation system.

    by Rachel Naba
For the first time on this continent, a Dogon Priest who has been educated and raised within the initiatic system in Africa has graduated an elite class of certified Ka¹at Ib Meditation instructors. The Kaat Ib education is a demanding and challenging one, and out of many who were called, only a few were able to rise to the challenge of the education. On 26 Ipfi 402 (2 August 2003), the graduating students were honored in a special ceremony led by Neb Naba Lamoussa Morodenibig, Master Teacher of the MTAM School of Kemetic Philosophy and Spirituality. During this ceremony, graduates received their diplomas, spiritual writing boards, list of Commandments, and spiritual names. Cortney Scott, Rachel Naba, Mary Ellen Bascomb, Aimasa Per Ra and Jabir Amarah, anxiously awaited the receipt of their names and diplomas. To start off the ceremony, Neb Naba gave a short introductory and congratulatory speech, which is transcribed below:
A question deserves an answer. If the answer is not satisfactory, it leads to other questions, which also deserve answers. There is a point where your preacher or leader says just believe in something, and you know they have run out of answers. How can beliefs put us together? It doesn¹t work because even the same thing we are asked to believe in, our way of believing it is different! So The Earth Center came all the way from Africa trying to see how we can solve these questions.

There are different views of what exactly is the Kemetic religion. The following is from the view of Per Ankh and KemetOnline, which might be different from other Kemetic groups.
The Kemetic Religion As the Ancient Egyptian religion is one of the traditional religions of Africa. we share with these great faiths the style and approach to religious experience, rituals, and life. However, as the historical continuity with our ancestors has been broken, we share with reconstructionist religions in utilizing scholarly methods to re-create the structures, rites, and practices; our aim is to literally preserve rituals as fully as possible. While trying to keep our religion as closely to the religion of Ancient Egypt, we use methods of religious studies, philosophy, and theology to apply what we have learned to contemporary times. At the same time, we are a living religion that recognizes that growth and change is a part of healthy religious evolution. Such questions are taken seriously and discerned by the priesthood of individual temples, which, like the temples of Ancient times, might come to differing conclusions.

I can cover a couple of the basic differences that I know of. Firstly, Kemetic Orthodoxy has a Nisut (the position held by the Pharoah in ancient times, who was aligned with Heru as the ruler of Kemet and considered divine), whereas Per Ankh's person of the most responsiblity is that of our Heri Tep Hem Netjer (the position of the Highest Priest in Kemet who could perform rites in the Nisut's stead when necessary and was/is responsible for the spiritual needs of the people as a priority, but was not considered divine). Secondly, KO has a practice of 'divining Parents' (which overrides a persons *natural* relationship/affinity to a particular Netjer and tells the person Who they are to serve and have a relationship with), whereas KTR has no such divining. As far as we can see from egyptological research this was not a practice of the ancients.
