Hermetism Italian Ermetismo Works produced within the movement are characterized by unorthodox structure, illogical sequences, and highly subjective language. Its formalistic devices were partly derived from Futurism , but the cryptic brevity, obscurity, and involution of the Hermetics was forced on them by fascist censors. Giuseppe Ungaretti Salvatore Quasimodo , and Eugenio Montale were the principal exponents of the movement, which was named for Hermes Trismegistos, a reputed author of occult symbolic works (

Astrology and Magic, is of considerable interest in a wide variety of fieldsthe history of science, the history of ideas, the history and philosophy of religion, mathematics, chemistry and medicine, as well as chronology and calendrics, astrology, alchemy, magic, political science, semiotics and psychology. Why the Hermetic Gnosis? From the Hellenistic Period to the present day the Hermetic Gnosis has exerted a powerful and formative, although often indirect, influence on western science, society and thought. The Corpus Hermeticum 's first libellus, the Pymander , with its cosmogonic myth, its declaration of the divine origin of Man, and its eight-staged spiritual ascent has long been an important literary source for mystical initiation. 66. Hermeticism
hermeticism is a body of knowledge which started with Hermes Trismegistus inEgypt, and later in Greece. It has become the Western Esoteric Tradition.
http://salemos.tripod.com/index-16.html
Hermeticism Hermes Trismegistus
Hermeticism is a school of study based on the work of Hermes Trismegistus. The principal tenet is "as above, so below", in other words everything that is in heaven is in some way reflected in what happens on the earth and vice versa. It also involves a development of the Greek Theory of four elements: (earth, air, fire, water), and leads naturally into the development of Alchemy.
Hermeticism has become the Western Esoteric Tradition, a System of Mysticism. It is a foundation for many other systems such as Alchemy, Rosicrucianism, Golden Dawn, etc. It shares its knowledge with other traditions. It started in Egypt and Greece with a few documents, such as the Emerald Tablet, but is now a large body of knowledge. Instead of attempting to reproduce this material here, I invite your visit to the following five sites: The Gnostic Society Library, Hermetic Fellowship, J. R. Ritman Library, Frater 93's page about Theosophy, and 2000 C.E. at The Four + Corners. These resources in the following order, should give you a good foundation for Hermeticism.
1. This is a good place to start your study of Hermeticism. The Gnostic Society Library has "The Corpus Hermeticum", an excellent, easy to understand body of knowledge that will give you a fundamental understanding of this complex subject.

No. 2 - Hermeticism
[Place this page on your computer "Favorites" for easy reference while you are studying this section]
The study of Hermeticism is a very important subject in Mysticism. It is probably one of the most important. The Western Mystical Tradition is based on Hermeticism, even Rosicrucianism is based on it. Some of the other pages could have been included under Rosicrucianism, but for this study, the pages are more appropriate to be included with Hermeticism. In these studies it is the major subject, other sub-divisions become minor, but still important. Subjects like actuality/reality, etc. are more appropriate with the study of Rosicrucianism. As you progress in your study of the Hermeticism Page, you may read the other fourteen pages in the order they are listed. Start out by studying Hermeticism alone for awhile, and then you may gradually add the other pages. If you do not understand a page, put it aside and read it again later, after you have "absorbed" more Hermeticism. If you have any problems, please e-mail me. I am sure, you will find these studies very interesting and Spiritually rewarding.

These are the internal links that you should read and study for this section of your studies:

How to Study Astrology, Magic and Alchemy

Hermeticism: A Practical Path of Gnosis TOP W e realize from our study of and, more importantly, our encounter with the figure of Hermes Trismegistus that the most difficult task we have as moderns who wish to pursue a spiritual path is that we cannot simply learn new information and fit it into our pre-existing World View, but we must learn a new World View, a new framework in which to fit the Hermetic knowledge. We are handicapped at every turn by the preconceptions we share of Reality, which are part of the Modern World View. The emphasis on the historical truth of Hermeticism, rather than its spiritual truth is but one trap. The attraction to endlessly "study" the area without actually engaging with the material or practicing the Hermetic arts is another. We do not follow this path because we wish to write a thesis or out of idle or abstract interest. Hermeticism is a means to an end and that end is union with the Divine.
S o what is the method? Our first step is to learn and actually practice one or more of the Hermetic arts of astrology, magic and alchemy. At the same time we should study and meditate on the Hermetic philosophy that underlies these arts. We must constantly oscillate between theory and practice.
