Sirona's Books Click on the title for picture of the cover and more information The Complete Idiot's Guide To Elves and Fairies - A great primer to the wonderful world of Elves and Fairies. Includes sections on mythology, fairytales, "The Lord Of The Rings," "Harry Potter," Joseph Campbell, fairy experiences, different types of fairies, nature devas, spiritual traditions, and more. The book pays homage to the many authors who have written about fairies. Irish author James Joyce once remarded that parts of Connaught, a province in western Ireland, were more thickly populated with fairies than with mortals. Empowering Your Life With Dreams - This book helps you to use your dreams to empower your life in terms of love, health, and abundance. Gives useful techniques for remembering your dreams, interpreting your dreams, and using them for creativity. Includes meditations, rituals, oracles, affirmations, prayers, and stories of people using their dreams in positive and powerful ways. Empowering Your Life With Wicca Filled with meditations, rituals, oracles, affirmations, prayers, and people's stories, this is a book that adds focus to your present spiritual path. Empowerment is what it is all about, and Wicca is one of the ways for getting there. Because the spiritual traditions of Wicca are thousands of years old, many of the ideas are universal throughout the world. "Empowering Your Life With Wicca" brings these ideas together into a way that is both practical, in that it works in the "real" world, and spiritual, in that it gives a sense of "Oneness" with the world around you.

The Faery Cord With RJ Stewart A New Workshop Open to All The Faery Cord, a powerful magical aid and companion that embodies a tradition with origins in the ancestral past, is presented now with unique methods taught only by RJ Stewart. The Faery Cord stands for, and replaces, "implements of magic" which enables an almost invisible method of creating power patterns, that you can take anywhere. The Cord can be used uniquely, in its own right, without other forms of spiritual or magical work, and it may also be used with the Magic of Three Sticks, as taught by RJ Stewart. In this workshop, we will Empower a Cord. This simple ceremony, known as the Ritual of Inhabitation, may be repeated easily to attune and empower your cord. The information, techniques and the powerful faery contacts and spiritual forces of this gathering enable one single cord to become a cord that can be used in personal meditation or group work to:

The Green Dancers
from Robin Hood, by John Matthews
"All in a woodman's jacket he was clad
Of Lincoln greene, belaye'd with silver lace;
And ion his head an hood with aglets sprad,
And by his side his hunter's horne he hanging had."
(Canto VI. ii. 5. ) The importance given to the episode in the Gest where the Sheriff, having been captured, is made to put on the dress of an outlaw, is evidence that the colour was regarded as important even then. Certainly all the references to the clothing bought for those taking the role of Robin Hood in the May-Day Games, or in the Robin Hood plays of the 16th to 18th centuries refer to this colour. Until recent times 'to wear the green' was another way of saying that one followed the old religion of this land.
Another aspect of all this is the association between Robin Hood and fairs and between Faery folk and fairs. According to the Elizabethan writer Henry Fuller, wherever Robin went 'he carried a fair along with him, chapmen crowding to buy his stolen goods', and there are frequent references to fairs in the ballads. In Ireland, of course, there was the Puck Fair, held at Killorglin in County Kerry every August, where there was a general disposition towards wild behaviour and unbridled licence.
Puck, in this instance, comes from the Gaelic poc meaning a he-goat. (Though, as we shall see, there is reason to connect Puck with Robin Hood.) Every year a goat is chosen, decorated, and paraded through the town to the accompaniment of music and song. It is regarded as the King of the Fair, and is ceremonially crowned and placed on a platform, where it remains through out the duration of the fair. Despite the derivation of the name, there are echoes of Puckish goings on at the fair, with possible factional combats of the kind already described in the previous chapter, and there are a number of stories about people unlawfully trying to steal the goat and finding that their hands were mysteriously stuck to its shaggy coat.

Tarot Sets The Tarot is one of the most common and popular tools, a psychological and philosophical system consisting of 78 cards divided into the Major Arcana (22 cards), and the Minor Arcana - four Suits, each containing four Court cards and ten Number cards. While references to playing cards appear in Europe from the mid-1300s, the earliest known deck dates from the 14th century (the Visconti-Sforza deck of Milan, Italy) In 1781 Court de Gébelin claimed that the symbols on the cards had ancient sacred and magical meanings. Soon they began being used for fortune-telling. A modern reading consists of shuffling the deck, drawing cards, arranging them in a pattern or spread, and interpreting the symbols in relation to a question or current life influences. Review by Tom LeBlanc, CTC
A renowned author on the Faery tradition of Wicca, Kisma Stepanich offers a rather singular system of Tarot based on her own spiritual awakening and research. The Faery Wicca Tarot is reportedly inspired by a visitation from the Danu while the creator of this deck was meditating atop Sliabh na Cailligh in Ireland. During this revelation, she realized that each of the four suits represented the Faery cities of the underworld and each pip card symbolized a portion of a journey to those cities. Clearly, the 167-page booklet that accompanies this deck is an absolute necessity for the fulfilling use of this deck. It details the purpose and use of the Faery Wicca Tarot, provides insight into the mythological meanings of each card, suggests meditations, details unique spreads, and even offers an index of Ohgam writing! Printed on high-quality plastic-coated card, this deck is beautifully illustrated with deep, vibrant colors and is rich in detail and symbolic quality.

The Music from Gwydion:
Gwydion was born in a family of a long-term California residents. Gwydion met the blind seer and poet Victor Anderson, known in many Pagan circles as a high priest of the Feri Tradition, ancient teaching that span the globe, and found in aboriginal people everywhere teacher of the Feri tradition of Witchcraft. Gwydion had met him through his son (from the same birth date, 22 may) of the same age at school. From the early age of 13 Victor became also his primer teacher and mentor. Until his twenties he studied with him.
In college he majored in theatre. He was a consummate actor and was fascinated with the mysteries of masks and personae. The works of Shakespeare and Greek Playwrights impressed him most strongly, but he expressed impatience and even disgust with modern theatre. For him theatre was truest when it was closest to its spiritual roots as religious dromenon.
Gwydion had a great store of poetic and anthropological lore, but was clearly more under the spell of the strength of a tale than of scientific method. He had an excellent ear for cadences and rhythms of words, which made listening to him an enchanting event. Later, when he moved to the land to homestead, he was in great demand as a reader on long winter nights or to pass the time during periods of stormy weather. A gentile and generous host, he was also quite the trickster, often going to extreme lengths in hatching plots for practical jokes. His tongue was witty and could be dangerously barbed, in true barbic fashion : Gwydion's derision could be crushing.

History of the northern tradition of faery.

The Faery Faith In The Northern Tradition
By Uldis
(Originally published at Imbolc 1996) Within the streams of the Irish, Scots and Welsh Celtic traditions there is, for each, an underlying "Fairy Faith" or older tradition. The British "Fairy Tradition" may be an echo or remnant of this Celtic heritage. Less evident, though still discernable, is a similar vein within the Northern Tradition. As the religion of the groups of people we label loosely as Teutonic was the last pagan religion to succumb to Christianity, perhaps it had more time to accumulate extra layers, covering the faith it evolved from. The later warrior-like deities of the Northern Tradition, such as Odin and Thor, are the best known pagan gods generally, as many children’s books and comics show. They also feature strongly in the mythological texts - the Prose and Poetic Eddas from which the greater part of our knowledge concerning the Northern Tradition is derived. The Eddas tell of a war between Odin’s Aesir and the Vanir, a family of fertility deities who date back to the Bronze Age. This conflict in the myths could recall a time when an agricultural culture clashed with the later, more nomadic and mobile Iron Age warrior tribes. The Aesir and Vanir, after a long war, formed an alliance and later intermarried, just as their human followers did in the lands they invaded. Frey and Freya simply mean "Lord" and "Lady". Much of Native British Paganism can be traced back to this root.

Fairy / Faery / Feri Tradition
Do a web search on any of the above, and you'll get back plenty of confusing information. I recall these various spellings being offered distinctive meanings by Sage Goode in a workshop awhile back (paraphrasing here):
  • " Fairy " denotes the British Victorian winged imp of nature. Sometimes used by other Anglo pagan traditions that work with certain nature spirits.
  • " Faery " - altho used at one time by the Andersons, but changed in later years - denotes R. J. Stewart's respected Faery tradition. Also used by other Anglo pagan traditions that work with certain nature spirits.
  • " Feri " is the way Victor eventually decided to spell his & Cora's particular tradition of witchcraft, so as not be confused with others. Certain initiates may prefer to spell it as "faerie" or "faery", Victor's original name for the trad, because that's the name they knew when first initiated.
There. Feeling better now? The Feri Tradition is still in its infancy, only three or four "generations" long. One of its two originators and Grand Masters, Victor, is recently deceased. Cora is still alive and teaching - through example and gentle transmission - in Northern California.

The Irish American Faery-Faith Tradition
by Kisma K. Stepanich
From Ireland comes a very old manuscript called L ebor Gabála Érenn (The Book of the Taking of Ireland), which might be considered the first recordings of the oral Faery Tradition; for we read within its pages of the ancient gods and goddesses of pre-Celtic, Celtic, pre-Christian, as well as Christian Ireland. We are provided with tales that are considered both mythological and historical. We read of the pedigrees of the Shining Ones, the Tuatha De Danann , and learn from where they originated. We are given accounts of their druidry, knowledge, science, prophecy and magic. We read they ‘were expert in the arts of pagan cunning’. In the pages of this five-volume set we are shown a glimpse of the remnants of the Irish cosmology, their creation myth, and the beginning of the Shining Ones now obscurely veiled behind a fantasy term: fairy. Over the centuries the Shining Ones have left behind a plethora of tales, first recited as the folk-tale of Ireland, and later told as the fairy-tale world-wide. Their traditional ways survived in folk-memory, becoming the "superstitions" of Ireland. And up to modern times, there isn’t an Irish country dweller who doesn’t believe in the Faery , and perform some superstitious act at least once or twice a year. From these come the modern folk practices known as the
