Feri Tradition
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The Feri Tradition (also Faery Fairy Faerie etc.) is an initiatory mystery tradition of Witchcraft . It is an ecstatic , rather than a fertility , tradition stemming from the teachings of Victor and Cora Anderson. Strong emphasis is placed on sensual experience and awareness, including sexual mysticism, which is not limited to heterosexual expression. In this, as in the general spirit of spiritual exploration, there is more risk-taking encouraged than in many Wiccan edit
History and Lines of the Feri Tradition
Victor Anderson started teaching the Feri Tradition, then known as Vicia, more-or-less in its modern form in the 1940s. He began initiating people on an individual basis into the tradition before the 1950's. According to Cora Anderson , Victor received a letter in 1960 (other accounts say it was a phone call) from several witches in Italy, among them Leo Martello, asking him to form a coven in California. During the 1950's and 60's, Victor's Craft "foster-son,"

Traditions Religion is first broken down into types of belief: Polytheists: Belief in more than one God, many Gods. Worship of both God and Goddess, regarding self as Priestess or Priest of the Earth Mother. The rituals mark seasonal turnings. They plant crops by the phases of the moon, herbal remedies to heal. "The Body is Thy Temple". Animism: A reality that all things are imbued with vitality. From rocks and trees to dreams. Partaking in the life force. Belief that all forms of organic life have their origin in the soul; that all natural objects have a soul. Pantheism: Doctrine that identifies God with the Universe, everything being considered as part of or manifestation of him. Where a craft Priestess becomes Goddess within a ritual circle. "Thou art Goddess". Monotheism: One God, one way, one faith and one belief. Atheist disbelief in the existantance of God. Because there are new Traditions being created every day, I cannot possibly name them all. I just ran into one the other night that is only 10 years old. I am only listing out now some of the Wiccan/Pagan and Craft religious traditions, I will not attempt to go into world-wide religion and all of its different branches. If you know of one that should be listed here, please feel free to email me. You can also find some traditional links at Rosebud's Garden Gardnerian
England Founder Gerald B Gardner, 1950's. This is considered the first modern denomination of the Craft. He is said to be the grandfather of Wicca. This tradition places more emphasis in the Goddess. Having a system of degrees, and does not accept self-initiation. They work skyclad and try to keep equal numbers of males and females within the covens. You will have to also take into consideration Gardner corresponded with Crowley.

Came to be oral Faery Tradition; it was also esoteric-christian, which flourished before the crusades. Norse Mythology relate how the maggots emerging from the corpse of the giant Ymir transformed themselves into the Light Elves and the Dark Elves. The Icelandic version, know as Huldre Folk in the Scandinavian countries, states that Lilith (Lilu?) was washing her children when God spoke to her. In her fear she hid the children that had not been washed yet. When God had asked if these were all her children, she replied, yes. He then declared that those she had hidden from him would be hidden from man. On another note here, Lullabies were sang to babies so that Lilu would not hear them cry, as it was lore she would take them to replace her own children she lost daily. In Devon, pixies are to be the souls of unbaptised children. That faeries were the heathen dead, not good enough for heaven, but not bad enough for hell.

What is the faery realm, who or what lives there, and why should we concern ourselves with it?
The best way to begin is with the basic essential definitions handed down to us from folkloric and ancestral tradition. These are surprisingly simple, and are found in close variants worldwide; in this discussion, however, we will focus mainly on the British and European beliefs (2). Why? Because these are the ones I know best, and, more significantly, because they act as a working model for the tradition. Once you have the basics, you can discover for yourself how they share a planetary tradition, by researching comparative folklore, mythology, and ethnic magical traditions.
So here is a brief Question and Answer sequence, which covers the absolutely fundamental basics of the faery tradition, by any name, in any culture.
Q: What is the Faery realm?

Reclaiming Tradition Witchcraft
The Reclaiming Tradition of contemporary American Witchcraft arose from a working collective in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. This class was so enthusiastically received by the women who took it that they pleaded for more. Starhawk and Diane enlisted the help of two other members of Coven Raving, to teach a second series of Elements to more women who had expressed interest, and to create a more advanced class called "The Iron Pentacle." The Iron Pentacle is based upon a Faery Witchcraft concept. The class' "main focus was trance work and the discovery of the healing powers of the human body through meditations on the five-pointed star." The points were sex, self, passion, pride and power. This construct is one of the distinguishing features of Reclaiming Craft because it is considered part of the basic approach to magic, although other lines of Faery also work with it. The same is true for its obverse, the Pentacle of Pearl, the points of which are love, law, wisdom, knowledge and power. Both pentacles have correspondences with the head, hands and feet, going round and transversing the human body touching the points of a five-pointed star. Again, success spawned a further class called "The Rites of Passage." "This third class ended with the ‘students’ initiating themselves, and starting their own coven, the ‘Holy Terrors,’"

A Working Definition of Reclaiming
Reclaiming is a tradition of the Craft. To us the Goddess is the wheel of birth, growth, death and regeneration. Therefore we embrace as sacred the living world, the body as well as the spirit, the cycles of nature, sexuality in its diverse expressions, and the elements of air, fire, water and earth that sustain all life. We know that to name these things as sacred is an inherently political act, for what is sacred must not be exploited or despoiled. We also know that action in the world in the service of the sacred is one of the core expressions of our spirituality. Spiritual authority is located within us. We are each keepers of our own conscience. Our training, rituals, and spiritual practices are designed to develop personal and communal empowerment, that combination of self-confidence, independent thought, intuition and engagement with the world that enables us to live by our principles and stand up for what we believe in. We see all systems of domination and exploitation, whether based on gender, race, economics, ancestry, beliefs, sexual orientation, physical appearance or capabilities as harmful to individual development and communal harmony. Liberty, equality and social justice are key values in our tradition. Because we value freedom of thought, we accept no dogmas nor implement any required beliefs. We do, however, have a working model of the universe that includes interconnected realms of matter and spirit. Most of us prefer the term "Goddess" for the weaver of this web, but we also recognize an eclectic pantheon of Goddesses and Gods, each of them particular constellations of power, with whom we are co-creators of change and fate. At the heart of the cosmos is mystery, that which can never be defined nor controlled. Any images we place around that mystery are tools to help us more deeply encounter the sacred.

Tittel: Faery Wicca Tarot Kit Forfatter : Kisma Stepanich Pris: 295 kr Bok : 8 cm x 13 cm Kort: 81 kort illustrert av Renee Christine Yates Based on the ancient Bardic system of understanding the universe, the Faery Wicca Tarot, by Kisma K. Stepanich, blends traditional Tarot images with the mystical symbolism of modern Faery Wicca magick. Faery Wicca traces back to a distant age when gods inhabited the world and the lands and oceans were divided among them. These deities came from the OtherWorld, where they acquired secret knowledge, science, prophecy, and magick, now illustrated in a usable form in the Faery Wicca Tarot. Unlike any other, this deck has five sections, beginning with forty Element cards, ten each for air, earth, fire, and water. Next come sixteen Helper cards, consisting of a maiden, knight, high king, and high queen for each suit, similar to the court cards. Then come twenty-two Ancient Ones cards, similar to the traditional major arcana. The last sections include the Power card and four Gift of Faery cards. Together, the eighty-three cards of the Faery Wicca Tarot give you a deck steeped in Irish Faery tradition. Beautifully illustrated by RenŽe Christine Yates, this deck helps you experience the Faery wisdom first hand.

The Faery Tradition The Faery/UnderWorld tradition has been throughout Britain for centuries and the inquisitive seeker can find information on such traditions within folklore, ballads, local history, heraldry and by communing with power places, animals and entities, working with stars and in their own wisdom. So you see, although many claim to teach Faery this or that, the only true teacher is yourself and co-walkers, those beings or powers that decide to work with you. No one can initiate you and you have to be ready to see as our ancestors saw and walk the land for your teaching. Magic is the heart of the Faery tradition, not merely as the manipulation of external forces and circumstance in accordance with our will, but as a suppressed dimension of the human being and the world ~ magic as a mode of perception and relation. The focuses of the Faery are magic, transformation and the shaman's quest into the Otherworld. The Faery Tradition is a journey, a process and a guidebook to that journey. It is not simply about belief but doing and experiencing, burning as brightly as ever we can moment to moment, letting the light of the Otherworld shine through us.

    Solitary Wicca
Lesson 1 Introduction Welcome to our on-line classes for Solitary Wicca. We will be covering so many different things that I thought I should begin by talking about the different traditions and some of the history of Wicca. I will be using the same notes that I used to teach to my in person classes. Remember, if you have questions about the lesson, please e-mail them to me and put the lesson number followed by a question mark in the subject line. Modern Witchcraft has been around since the 1950's. It is considered a neo-Pagan religion or new Pagan religion that involves the worship of a God and a Goddess. An English man named Gerald Gardner has been credited with the revival of Witchcraft and is often called the "father of the new Witchcraft". It was during this time that the Craft laws and ethics took shape. The Wiccan Rede of "An it Harm None, do what ye will", stipulates that Witches may use their magical powers only for good, never to harm any living thing. The actual age of this rede is unknown, but it does predate the fifties. Since this time, Wicca continued to grow, but only in a coven situation. It was not until the late 1980's that the Solitary Movement began with books by Scott Cunningham, "Wiccan A Guide for the Solitary Practioner" was a ground breaking work that gave detailed instructions for all those who wanted to practice Wicca but did not have access to covens, or preferred to practice alone. The Solitary Movement was not well received in the Wicca community, and we were labeled such things as "Kitchen Witches" or "Betty Crocker Witches", yet the movement continued to grow as the number of Solitaries began to mount. Today we are the fastest growing religion in the world.
