Faery Traditions ( Fairy Faith )
The Little Mermaid, Copenhagen, Denmark - a character from Hans Christian Anderson's fairytale, "The Little Mermaid"
The Lord of the Rings , being heavily influenced by his experience in World War I and World war II and their destruction of British and European families, cultures and traditions. World War I and World War II completed the destruction and dispersal of British and European families, which had begun with the Industrial revolution in the 1700's.
Modern Conceptions of Fairies.
It is important to note that most modern peoples conception of the fairy is a diluted degraded demystified dishonored, and corrupted version of the elder tradition's powerful view. RJ Stewart , the important Celtic underworld and faery teacher, has emphasized this degeneration in his many books. This degeneration of the fairy tradition has occurred since the 18th century CE and the industrial revolution. This has resulted in a particularly nasty and vacuous view of the powerful fairy beings. For example, they are seen as small beings with little butterfly wings and wands like Tinkerbell.
Modern Conceptions of Fairies Types of Faeries In ancient traditions worldwide there are perceived a multitude of faery beings and faery tribes who come in a huge variety of shapes sized and qualities. Katherine Briggs, for exapmle, in her book "The Vanishing People, Fairy lore and Legends (1978, Pantheon Books/Random House, New York/Toronto, originally published by B.T. Batsfield, London)) points out a few of the many faery races. Brownies, hobglins, pixies, bwcas, shelly goats, corrigans, spiggrans, phynnoderees, name but a few. Others include Trooping faeries, house spirits, nature fairies, fairy midwives, faery changelings, Bogie Beasts, Bwbachod, Sidhe, Dwarfs, Elves, Fees, Gnomes, Goblins, Kelpie, Korrigan, Meg Mullach, Mermaids, Mermen, Moss Women, Water Horses, Padfoot, People of Peace, Pouka, Sluagh, Spunkies, Swanmaidens, Trolls, Tuatha De Danann, Tylwyth Teg, Will o' the Wisp. See attaché glossary of Faeries from Katherine Briggs.

Ancestoral Tradition Blood Ancestral Types
In Druid and shamanistic traditions worldwide, the "Ancestors" are very important as guides and teachers. A good deal of Druid and shamanistic spiritual work involves going into trance and entering the Underworld (the world within the Earth) the world in which Faeries and Ancestors reside. Trance journeys are taken to the Underworld through time and space to meet with the spirit beings and gain knowledge and wisdom from them. In Earth based and shamanistic traditions worldwide there are various kind of "ancestors". One type of ancestor, which is most commonly recognized, is composed of one's ancient and biological ancestors. These are individuals who are part of one's bloodline and biological descent. In Earth based traditions, there is a unity of past, present and future, and time is seen as not existing. One is seen as existing and having responsibility for the present, the past, and the future. The generations of ones line are seen as a continuum of collective consciousness that goes backwards in time and goes forward into the future. In Earth based and shamanistic terms the eternal now is far more that the modern western interpretation of the Buddhist and Hindu concept of being present, rather being in the present is far more than being in the moment. It is a nonlinear, non-time oriented approach. The eternal now involves entering a mystical state in which one is conscious and alive in the eternal now of past, present and future at once. In this concept of eternal now, our ancient ancestors exist now and we can communicate with them. We as well who exist now are available for future shamans to communicate and be present with us now. We are their ancestors.

The Irish Faery Tradition and the Living Land
(Originally written for Wolfhound Press, Dublin, Ireland) Tuatha de Danaan , spiritual beings who, according to the medieval Irish text, The Book of Invasions appeared one day on a mountain in the North, bringing talismans of magical power with them . These beings, once the pantheon of an ancient Celtic sacro-magical tradition, eventually retreated to live beneath the earth, leaving the surface to destructive humans. In time they became faery beings, adding to the multitude already dwelling in the stones, streams, wells, lakes, trees, mountains, and rivers. Why are there so many Faeries in Ireland?

Ecstasy and Transgression
in the Faery Tradition
By Cholla and Gabriel C: It is often said that Feri is an ecstatic tradition, as opposed to a ceremonial tradition of magic or paganism. But do we ever really consider what that means, and if this statement is actually true in our practice of Feri? This article is the first in a series exploring ecstasy as a spiritual path of the Feri Witch, and will explore many of the different paths of ecstasy that we may have come to overlook as modern witches. What is ecstasy? G: Ecstasy is the result of the transpersonal, the divine, temporarily (or permanently) infusing the personal. Ecstasy is surrender. The Talking Self gives up control, structure, expectations, and its network of preference and aversion. We have in that moment our own experience stripped of analysis and fear, suffused with the power of the divine, the radiance and awareness of Ether as pure consciousness. In those moments we experience the world as it really is, not as we think it is, or think it ought to be. Another way of explaining Ecstasy is in terms of brain waves; our normal mindset is reflected in what are normally called alpha waves. An elevated mindset, marked by deep relaxation and internal quiet, such s we often reach on ritual, meditation, sex, or listening to music, is called beta state, and is marked by a measurable shift in brain wave frequencies. In many cultures beta state is the normal one, and alpha stage is triggered only by the fight or flight response. Alpha state is something that comes up in a crisis, when it is useful. In our culture alpha stage is the straightjacket that keeps us plodding on like so many worker ants while we ravage both our beautiful planet and our own lives, dreams and possibilities, selling ourselves into bondage in the belly of the beast.

The Corn Maiden She is the youthful female deity parallel to the Blue God and is something of a trickster. Her behavior embodies the Black Heart of Innocence, one of the essential tenets of Feri. Her symbol is the new crescent moon. The Harvest Lord He is the Spirit of Light and Heat, the ripeness of Summer, and the fullness of Manhood. He is also a reflection in a dark mirror of the Star Goddess. His symbol is the sun.

Creation According to the Faery Tradition of Witchcraft
Starhawk
Alone, awesome, complete within Herself, the Goddess, She whose name cannot be spoken, floated in the abyss of the outer darkness, before the beginning of all things. And as She looked into the curved mirror of black space, She saw by her own light her radiant reflection, and fell in love with it. She drew it forth by the power that was in Her and made love to Herself, and called Her "Miria, the Wonderful".
Their ecstasy burst forth in the single song of all that is, was, or ever shall be, and with the song came motion, waves that poured outward and became all the spheres and circles of the worlds. The Goddess became filled with love, swollen with love, and She gave birth to a rain of bright spirits that filled the worlds and became all beings.
But in that great movement, Miria was swept away, and as She moved out from the Goddess She became more masculine. First She became the Blue God, the gentle , laughing God of love. Then She became the Green One, vine-covered, rooted in the earth, the spirit of all growing things. At last She became the Horned God, the Hunter whose face is the ruddy sun and yet dark as Death. But always desire draws Him back toward the Goddess, so that He circles Her eternally, seeking to return in love.
All began in love; all seeks to return to love. Love is the law, the teacher of wisdom, and the great revealer of mysteries.

The following is a simple explanation of some of the more common terms which are used within the Pagan community. Included is a brief history of the word and its modern usage. The definitions of many words tend to change over time, and so its always good to understand both a modern and historical definition of any word to ensure proper understanding of the term.
    Heathen
The term heathen was historically used to refer to a person who "dwelled near the hearth" or alternately, "who lived on the heaths." The heaths were rocky outcroppings that existed in the countryside and more rural areas. In ancient times, the hearth was the center of the home and the place where the family gathered for entertainment, food, religious observances, and other important activities.
In historic texts, the term heathen is often used to refer to those who

Faery Wicca Also referred to as the fae, fey, feri, faerie, fairy, and fairie tradition. Founded by Victor and Cora Anderson in the mid-late 1950’s, when they were inspired to form their own tradition after reading a book by Gerald Gardner “ Witchcraft Today” Anderson was responsible for writing most of the tradition’s rituals, which he initially based on fairy folklore and beliefs, he is still universally recognized as the Grand Master of the Faery Tradition. In 1959, Victor initiated the late Gwydion Pendderwen, who then aged 13, would later become a leading voice in the Faery Tradition. The Faery Tradition honors the Goddess and Her son, brother and lover (The Divine Twins) as the primary creative forces in the universe. The Gods are seen as real spirit beings like ourselves, and not merely aspects of our psyche. The tradition is an ecstatic tradition, rather than a fertility tradition with emphasis on polytheism, practical magic, self-development and theurgy.

    interview
Megan: Can you tell where and how you started? What tradition is it that you practice? RJ: I started with two interests: traditional ballads and folk tales, and meditation and magical arts. Eventually the two came together. I worked for several years (in the early 1970's) with the late W. G. Gray who was a Qabalist and his wife X. Roberta who was an astrologer and who Y. was also very knowledgeable about Celtic tradition. I practice certain aspects of the Faery and Underworld tradition, but I also receive the inner lineage of magical arts and Priest/Priestess hood traditions that we teach in workshops. Some of this inner contact was handed down from WGG, who received it from a French Russian teacher, linking back to the circles of Papus and other mystical/magical orders from 19th century in France with a strong Russian influence. However, I have developed these traditions in my own way, and do not claim them to be anything other than work that I have tried to clarify and develop over the last 30 years. M: Do you call what you do witchcraft or are you a pagan? What is it like to be a pagan in Europe?

The Helper Cards also have names from Irish Mythology. The suits are Domhan (earth), Aer (air), Tine (fire), and Uisce (water). The inner border of each Minor Arcana card is color coded by suit. The Minor Arcana illustrate the story line for each suit with the suit symbols dominating each scene. The accompanying book is 400+ pages long. It needs to be that long because this is a "theme deck," with the theme being Faery Wicca. If one is not already familiar with Ms. Stepanich’s Faery Tradition, one has a lot of learning to do. The mythology is quite involved, with the majority of the names of people, places and ideas rendered in Gaelic. Since many of the concepts upon which the deck is based predate Tarot, Golden Dawn and other, more recent traditions are used to fill in the gaps where needed. An example is the astrological correspondences. The book begins with some basic background information on the Irish mythology used. Descriptions of the four suits and some spreads designed as study aids are also provided in the beginning of the book. Part One of the book also covers the Minor Arcana. A black and white picture of each card is provided. The name of the card and a short verse are given. The information provided consists of:
