The Church of the Epiphany...
...is a parish of the Episcopal Church, a Christian denomination rooted in the Church of England. We are a church which welcomes diversity. We hold a variety of understandings about how God is involved in our lives, and we vary in age, race, politics, lifestyle, and tradition.
Our common bond is weekly worship. We hear the word of God proclaimed and preached with thoughtfulness, we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, the Lord's Supper, which nourishes us into one body of love and service, and we praise God in music and in prayer.
Parish Profile 2005

The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany has sought to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ for more than a century. As an active parish in the Diocese of Atlanta, it extends its ministry from its property on the eastern edge of Atlanta into the surrounding metropolitan area, throughout the diocese, and beyond. After the call of its previous rector as director and vicar of the diocesan inner-city mission of Emmaus House (following two decades of successful ministry at Epiphany), the parish seeks an energetic, theologically wise, and pastoral leader to work with it in fulfilling its mission.

EPISCOPAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY OF THE SOUTHWEST. The Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest was begun in Austin by John E. Hines, coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Texas, because the established theological seminaries of the Protestant Episcopal Church qv Two gifts strengthened the infant seminary. First, it received a bequest from the estate of Ann Laird of Kilgore and was thus able to add to the faculty. Second, the library of the former De Lancy Divinity School of Buffalo, New York, was given to the seminary by Bishop Laurisand L. Scaife of the Diocese of Western New York. The De Lancy Divinity School was no longer active and its library no longer in use. It contained a collection of English sources now out of print and hard to replace. The seminary received a charter from the state of Texas in 1951 and was recognized as an agency of the Diocese of Texas in January of 1952. At the same time it was recognized by two other dioceses in Texas, West Texas and Dallas, which had sent students to it and shared in its board of trustees. Its title, "of the Southwest," reflected this. The need for a campus was met by the donation of an Austin family, Dr. and Mrs. Ernest Villavaso and Frederick Duncalf

The word episcopal is derived from the Greek epskopos , which literally means "overseer"; the word, however, is used in religious contexts to refer to a bishop edit
Episcopal churches
Episcopal churches are the churches with bishops, those with episcopalian church governance , but generally those whose bishops are in Apostolic Succession . In the more specific sense the term is applied to those particular churches associated with George VI and with the Church of England . The word "episcopal" is commonly used to distinguish between the various organizational structures of Protestant churches, thus the word presbyterian is used to describe churches ruled by elected Elders ( Greek presbºtēs ) while "episcopal" is used to describe churches ruled by bishops. Others are neither, being congregational and local in structure. Examples of specific episcopal churches include: However, other churches overseen by bishops and with a connection to the Church of England are

Episcopal see
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
An episcopal see is the office of the chief bishop of a particular church See comes from the Latin word sedes , meaning seat , which refers to the episcopal throne ( cathedra ) located in the bishop's church ( cathedral ) in which the bishop sits as the principal symbol of his office. See is still used in that way but only in poetic contexts. By extension, episcopal see also refers to the local ordinary jurisdiction of that chief bishop (the diocese or particular church) and also the governmental bodies assisting the bishop (such as the curia With the four different meanings, things become rather confusing when sedes is used in canon law . An example of all four usages is the term Holy See , which in the Roman Catholic Church could mean the cathedra in the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano , the person who sits in that cathedra (the Pope ), the governmental bodies which assist him in the exercise of his office (principally the
