Enlightenment Central The idea of being on the path to enlightenment, of seeking enlightenment has motivated me for over 25 years. And I see the process of enlightenment as more a path than a destination. I do hope that on some days, at some times, I think, see, act or react with some level of enlightenment, as compared to functioning at the less illuminated of levels.
Goals in creating this website: -to help myself and hopefully others to think about ways to move forward on the path and to stay on the path, with all its bends, turns, detours, bumps and waystations. -to create a place which will help move forward dialogue on the ideas covered here, whatever they become -as a place to collect, store or link to ideas I've found to be inspiring and instructive.

WELCOME TO MY HOMEPAGE ! Is It Time For You ...
To Awaken ?
MY JOURNEY TO ENLIGHTENMENT I have always believed in God, but I could not say until recently that I was a spiritual person. For me, the religion seemed to get in the way of being spiritual. I truly did not start my journey to enlightenment and spirituality until the summer of 1997. I began reading books on everything that I felt drawn toward, seeking to know about religions that I was unfamilar with, seeking to know about alternative healing methods such as Reiki and Hypnotherapy, and seeking any books with a theme toward reaching an enlightened society. I could not get enough. In the fall, I started classes in The Temple of Divine Mysteries, taught by the Rev. M. Michelle Griffin. This class lasted one year and during that time I learned so much to enhance my spiritual growth. I met my Spirit Guide, T, at this time. T radiates a pure love of which I have never experienced. She comforts me and aids me in decisions which lead to my higher purpose. My mind opened to a whole new world. During this same period of time, I started reading the Seth books channeled by Jane Roberts and began working on my belief system. I made a list of affirmations which I read daily from his material: The Point of Power is in the Present. There is no condition that I cannot change. I create my reality according to my beliefs; my creative energy makes this world; there are no limitations to my self except those I believe in. Through my being the power of God is strengthened, for I am a portion of what He is. I am He manifesting as me.

Files and Libraries dump. These are snapshot releases of Enlightenment Applications and libraries. Feel free to download them. If you want to get 1 particular application working please read the guides below. Be ware - if you have older/other versions of these libraries installed on your system from .deb's or .rpm's or some other packaging system, and installed in different locations then you will very likely run into problems compiling. Remember to remove these other installs as they most likely are older unless you checked CVS out and compiled it in the last week or 2. Remember the default install for all autoconf based things is /usr/local. Remember to modify /etc/ld.so.conf to include /usr/local/lib (or whatever prefix you choose) and add /usr/local/bin to your PATH so the *-config scripts can be found when compiling. Enlightenment 0.17 : If you want E17 running you will need to get and compile (in order): eet, evas, ecore, embryo, imlib2, edje, enlightenment. You can run enlightenment as your window manager. You can also try it in Xnest. We assume you know how to change window managers already (by hand). Core EFL : If you want to try the core EFL libraries for developing you will need (in order): eet, evas, ecore, embryo, imlib2, edje.

Murray Kennedy has been giving Enlightenment Intensives in the Vancouver B.C. area since 1982. He invites you to consider the content of this site and to contact him with any comments or questions you might have.
The Enlightenment Intensive is a 3 Day residential workshop dedicated to helping individuals explore reality and come into conscious union with Truth. It is a highly focused, structured environment where participants continually contemplate one of four questions: "Who am I?", "What am I?", "What is Life?" or "What is Another?" On an Intensive participants practice a unique combination of contemplation and communication, which leads to dramatically increased consciousness, personal growth and not infrequently, the resolution of the question through direct experience. Intensives are very pure. They are laboratories for the unrestricted inquiry into the Truth as each individual experiences it. No belief system or view of life is taught or implied. Participants examine their own experience, make their own inquiry and discover their own results. Intensives are tremendously powerful. They bring participants into the actuality of the present moment and enable them to hold their attention on what is truly so for them as experience unfolds, hour after hour, day after day. Over the course of an Intensive concentration, energy, and awareness steadily increase enabling participants to go ever more deeply into the reality their questions point them toward.

King Bimbisara Siddhattha traveled from the Anoma river to Rajagaha, the capital of Magadha. He impressed the populace with his distinguished and graceful manner and King Bimbisara got to hear of his presence. The King went to Pandava Hill, were Siddhattha was staying, and offered him a share of his kingdom . Siddhattha declined saying he was after enlightenment. Bimbisara asked him to return to Rajagaha when he had found it. Siddhattha traveled on spending time with two famous teachers of the time - Alara Kalama and Udakka Ramaputta. They taught him everything they knew and Siddhattha quickly mastered their knowledge. They led him into ever deeper states of consciousness but somehow Siddhattha knew that this was not the true liberation he sought. They both offered him shared leadership of their communities but he declined. Two teachers

Room 1
Admission free 'Enlightenment' is a rich new exhibition using thousands of objects from the Museum's collection to show how people understood their world in the Age of Enlightenment. Their view was different from ours, but our knowledge has been built on the foundations they laid. The new display explores a period which saw the development of a systematic approach to the way that people understood the world of nature and human achievement, a period which saw the founding of the British Museum itself. The new gallery also provides an introduction to the Museum and its collections, and highlights the way that our understanding of much of the natural and human world has changed. It is housed in the room of the former King's Library, 'the noblest room in London'. The King's Library was named after King George III and was built to house his library which was given to the nation shortly after his death in 1820. The books were transferred to the new British Library in 1998, and the room has now been restored to its original glory as one of London's finest and most beautiful neo-Classical interiors.

The term German Idealism refers to a phase of intellectual life that had its origin in the enlightenment as modified by German conditions.

German Idealism
The Movement Characterized.
German Idealism Leibniz and the Pietists. Kant's Transcedentalism. The conceptual framework of German Idealism was provided by Immanuel Kant who was the first to reconcile the conflicting empirical and rationalistic elements of the prevailing dogmatic philosophy. With one stroke he secured for mind priority over nature, and yet without endangering the validity of the principles of scientific investigation. By giving the primacy to practical reason, he placed religion and ethics on a sure footing and broke the ban of rationalism. In the first instance Kant's work was purely epistemological. He made it particularly his problem to rescue natural science from the (epistemological) skepticism of Hume, and then to rescue religion from nationalism. Kant demolished the rationalistic arguments of Anselm, Descartes, and others, for the existence of God. Science is valid, but it has to do only with phenomena. This phenomenal world, however, is produced a priori by the activity of consciousness, reacting on that external reality whose eternal nature cannot be known. The constancy of experience is accounted for by the very fact that the world as we know it is only the sum total of phenomena. This becomes the basis of the universal validity of certain principles of explanation. Space and time, and the categories of the understanding are subjective and thus ideal. Taken together they form a mold in which we shape the impressions coming from the unknowable, transcendent reality. Thus, the principles of science and the laws of nature are universally valid because they are in the subject, not in the object. Knowledge of ultimate reality comes through the practical reason, particularly through the
