What Remains is Greater (No. 1144)
It matters not how much the wind may blow,
nor if the seas should rise up through the floor; the anchor of my craft is sunk below, and I am to this spot moored evermore. Should this fierce season flail its storms at me and seek to wrest my hold from this small spot, to face the torrent is my destiny; what comes, if good or bad, shall be my lot. 'Tis not an act of courage, or last stand, but simply put, I've realized to run is just as futile; what good are new plans

The Druid Pub is housed in the oldest wooden mercantile structure in the city of Cambridge. There is most definitely an authentic Irish atmosphere inside the pub, emanating from the original celtic artwork which abounds, but doesn't over populate. This artwork includes wooden and metal sculptures, oil on canvas paintings, a mural depicting ancient celtic hieroglyphics, stained glass windows and antique furnishings complimented by singer sewing machine tables, upon which you can rest a great pint of guinness. And as if that wasn't enough there's the great hospitality of the owners and staff.

...The 'student days' are ended; and many ages since we left the modern Council of Nine to serve again the Elder Council. We come now into our own power as Druids of the Holy Isle, and the task is given us to help midwife Avalon's rebirth in this new Age. It is a journey we undertake gladly.
Much has changed. In time past our Faery lanterns were beacons of hope even in the greatest darkness. May it be so now, for we live again in dark times. The world of men hangs by a thread over the abyss; the slightest wind might topple it. Yet hope remains: The Sleepers of the world begin to stir. Long silent Voices murmur their secrets from the depths of hidden pools. There are strange tidings, whispers in the Winds, and many who have lingered in shadow now come forward. Most will falter, unmindful of who they once were, or are, or might have been. The call to sleep will claim them, and into forgetfulness they will return.
But for others, the voices singing over them in the deeps of dreaming will urge them on to confront their fears, and in confronting discover truth; and in truth, trust in wisdom; and in wisdom, love of harmony; and in harmony the love of All Being. A great day, and a crown of glory over winter's white shoulders borne. So it has been said. So it has been seen... But prophecies are not guarantees; they must be carried out by those with heart and courage to risk facing the challenge. In our hearts, we know this is true. We are each here, then, in answer to this Quest.

http://www.crystalinks.com/druids.html
In the Celtic religion, the modern words Druidry or Druidism denote the practices of the ancient druids, the priestly class in ancient Celtic societies through much of Western Europe north of the Alps and in the British Isles. Druidic practices were part of the culture of all the tribal peoples called Keltoi and Galatai by Greeks and Celtae and Galli by Romans, which evolved into modern English "Celtic" and "Gaulish". Modern attempts at reconstructing practising druidism are called Neo-druidism. From what little we know of late druidic practice it appears deeply traditional, and conservative in the sense that the druids were conserving repositories of culture and lore. It is impossible now to judge whether this continuity had deep historical roots and originated in the social transformations of late La Tene time, or whether there had been a discontinuity and a druidic religious innovation. The etymological origins of the word druid are varied and doubtful enough that the word may be pre-Indo-European. The most widespread view is that "druid" derives from the Celtic word for an oak tree (doire in Irish Gaelic), a word whose root also meant "wisdom." They served as the warrior-kings of their tribes, usually living apart from their people in massive stone towers that were covered with vines and ivy. As masters of the natural world, they were able to control living creatures and the very forces of nature. Perhaps the most notable power of these Druids is their ability to change their form into that of an animal. Because of this ability, the tribes under their rule knew that they could be watched at any time. The sight of what was thought to be a common beast transforming into a vengeful Druid kept many a potential uprising in check. The Druid controls both Elemental and Prime magic. His Elemental powers give him control over fire, earth and the winds. His Primal bond with nature allows him to command many beasts and plants, summoning hawks, wolves, vines, and even natural spirits to do his bidding. He can also change his own shape into creatures such as a huge cave bear, or a dire wolf, and then use these forms to call upon further powers. As with the Assassin we see Sorceress elements here with his Elemental attacks but also some Necromancer-like tendencies in his ability to raise and command pets. He also has more combat skills than either the Necromancer or Sorceress, with his various shape-shifting abilities, which allow him to become much more powerful in combat for the duration of the transformation.
