To the Leaders and Laity of the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. Dear Saints: Holy greetings to you in the name of our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who was crucified for our sins. In the year of 1878 a very special man was born into this world who would come to love the Lord with all of his heart and would be used by God to organize this great church which we so dearly love. The Church Of God In Christ is without doubt the greatest and most unique Church in the world today. The sad fact is that we are failing to take advantage of our present opportunities. Our church is structured in such a way as to adequately fund the local, district and jurisdictional levels but we deny the national, parent body, church the finances needed in order to be effective. With the exception of the annual credential renewal fees, the national church has nothing to depend on for financial support. Many jurisdictions collect tithe of tithe from its local churches but only one jurisdiction sends tithe to the national church.

Christ Church Cathedral Welcome to the Cathedral Church of Christ in Oxford. We hope to offer an insight into the Cathedral's origins and history, its current nature and the wide variety of activities which go on within its walls and within the Oxford Diocese. Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford This twelfth century church is amongst the oldest buildings in Oxford, and one of the smallest Anglican cathedrals in England. It is also the only church in the world to be both a cathedral and a college chapel. A Place of Worship The Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Oxford , and many special services take place attended by the Bishop of Oxford. It is here that the Bishop has his throne or 'cathedra', from which a cathedral takes its name. You are most welcome to attend any service.

The Old North Church was built in 1723 in the Georgian style following Christopher Wren. In this rare and beautiful building - that is still an active Episcopal church - art, history and faith meet in a special way. It was from the steeple of the Old North Church that the two lanterns closely associated with Paul Revere were hung by Robert Newman, Church sexton, on April 18, 1775, igniting the War for Independence and leading to the birth of our Nation. The Old North Church is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts

The Anglican Parish of Meaford began in 1856 with services held once a year in Stephenson's Inn. In 1861 the congregation began building a frame sanctuary - Christ Church - and it was consecrated in 1862, having cost a total of $600. The present stone church was completed in 1876. To this day, its beauty has inspired those who have been its members and those who visit.
Services
Great to Humble
Fragment from Chichester Cathedral Special and unique memorial windows at Christ Church were the inspiration of the Reverend Harold Appleyard, Rector of the Parish during World War 2. Harold Appleyard, on leave from the parish, served as a Military Chaplain during the war years. He noticed shards of broken stained glass around bombed churches. He gathered fragments and received permission from local church authorities to have the glass leaded and returned to Christ Church as a memorial for Canadian men and women who served overseas.

The Profound Power of Gratitude

President Thomas S. Monson, Liahona and Ensign,
"The Apostle Paul, in his epistle to the Corinthians, proclaimed, 'Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.' And to the Thessalonians, 'In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God.' Do we give thanks to God 'for his unspeakable gift' and His rich blessings so abundantly bestowed upon us?"

Discussion Christ Church Commentary Christ Church, Spitalfields, is one of the Fifty New Churches, commissioned by the Act of Parliament of 1711 to be built on open sites in outlying areas of the City of London, which were experiencing rapid growth. Built on a longitudinal west-east axis, Christ Church's west front terminates the facing street with a monumental steeple, which punctuates the simple rectangular massing of the body of the church. The steeple rises directly behind a grand portico, raised by steps from the street. The portico has a Palladian or Venetian form, an arched center flanked by two rectangular openings on each side, which is echoed by the tripartite window behind the chancel to the east. The interior is an axially organized plan, with column screens all around articulating the entrance with balcony seating above, side aisles, and separating the chancel to the east. Four piers with half columns attached articulate a central rectangle, marking a cross aisle between two side doorways. Together these piers and the column screen give the linear plan an additional centralized reading. Tall, flat coffered ceilings allow space for clerestory windows to light the central space and lower outer windows to light the side aisles.

However, we would still welcome anyone who is in the area, or passing through, to attend our church service and/or the discussion meeting immediately following.  Thank you for understanding.
