Odesa Authorities Willing to Cooperate with Christian Denominations
24.07.2005, [07:28] // Church-state relations // Odesa – A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Odesa City Administration for Internal Policy with representatives of churches that are members of the Spiritual Council of Christian Denominations of Odesa, the first of its kind, took place in the City Hall of southern Ukrainian Odesa on 20 July 2005. Clergy of various Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant churches participated, including the Ukrainian Orthodox Church–Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC–KP), the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), the Roman Catholic Church (RCC), the United Methodist Church, and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC). Representatives of the various denominations expressed their wish to cooperate with the municipal authorities in resolving various social problems. “Meetings of various religious organizations with representatives of the state and local authorities have become a good manifestation of the arrival of a new government. … Though church and state are separated, the faithful of our churches are citizens of this country. Therefore … they justly expect cooperation from representatives of the authorities they elect,” said RCC Bishop Bronislaw Bernacki of Odesa and Symferopil, head of the Spiritual Council of Christian Denominations of Odesa. He also called the local authorities to return worship buildings confiscated by the atheistic communist regime to Roman Catholics. According to Bishop Bernacki, the Roman Catholic diocese of Odesa and Crimea still doesn’t have its own premises, while he himself lives in a little room in the Assumption Cathedral. Activities of the Roman Catholic Seminary in Odesa cannot be restored because of a lack of proper conditions.

Answer
Well, their are several Catholic, Presbertyrian, Baptist, Church of Christ, on and on..... but I don't understand why? I don't recall Christ ever talking about different denominations. There was "The Church" one body in Christ Jesus. It's a shame man has always confused everything. edit answer
Answer
Christians (and many other faiths) have often had internal disputes or disagreements over doctrine, interpretation, and ritual. Some were severe enough to cause actual schisms, where others simply led to localized "flavors" of the faith. Some, such as the Gnostics, were actively suppressed, where others (Coptics in Egypt, Calvinists in the U.S.) died out. Sects include Amish/Mennonite, Quaker, Baptist, Presbyterian, Church of God, Anglican (and its Irish branch), United Church of Christ, Mormon, Episcopalian, Lutheran, Christian Scientist, Jehovah's Witnesses, various Eastern Orthodox (Russian, Greek, etc.), Pentecostal, generic Protestant, Methodist, and (of course) Catholic. You could also include subcategories such as spiritualism and deism with a Christian flavor. Some doctrinal differences seem trivial to the outsider: the reliance on literal baptism (and sometimes foot-washing) as a sacred ritual for the Baptists, or the question of whether transubstantiation is literally true (Catholics). But others are more significant, like the Lutheran ideal of allowing laypersons to read scripture for themselves, the Anglican permission of divorce, or the rejection of papal infallibility and modern saints and miracles (Protestantism as a whole).

Why the Orthodox Church is the Best
The Australian Union of Students has come to the conclusion that Australia should become an Orthodox Christian country like Greece and Cyprus. These countries have the lowest crime rate in Europe, and are well-known for their high quality of life and absence of a youth suicide problem. They also have a high cultural affinity with Australia, higher even than Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The advantages of their Orthodox Church over the other Australian denominations is summarised in the following table.
At first glance it might appear that Scotland, Wales and Ireland have a higher cultural affinity with Australians than Greece and Cyprus. For example, when Pauline Hanson hears a Scottish pipe band, she doesn't think, "Those damned Scots ought to go back to their own country". The majority of Australians think the same way as Pauline Hanson, namely that Scottish pipe bands are part of Australian culture. On the other hand, it is not part of Australian culture to learn Gaelic, that is, the ethnic language of Scotland and Ireland, or Welsh. It is, however, part of Australian culture to learn Latin and Greek. For countless generations, it is been the custom of those mainstream people who can afford it to send their children to Anglican boarding schools to learn Latin and Greek. Nowadays, Latin is quite a popular language at universities because students have a sense that it is part of their cultural heritage.

Adventism can hardly be classified as a Christian denomination. We have briefly examined some of the main christian denominations.
http://www.orthodoxresearchinstitute.org/articles/ecumenical/polizoides_comparis
A Comparison of Various Christian Denominations with the Eastern Orthodox Faith By Bishop Germanos (Polizoides) of Chicago The Eastern Orthodox Faith contains what is necessary for our spiritual needs and for our salvation. It is One, Holy, Catholic (i.e. Universal), and Apostolic. It has maintained the same sacraments for twenty centuries, the same pure teachings of Christ, the same pastors who trace their descent by uninterrupted succession from the Holy Apostles and, through them, from Jesus. It is called Orthodox because it firmly believes and truly teaches (as the Greek word Orthodoxia means a true teaching). It teaches: that there are three Divine Persons in God, distinct, yet equal, that the Father is neither begotten, nor proceeds from anyone, that the Son is begotten from the Father, of the very essence of the Father. He is God and also truly man like us, because He assumed human nature from the Blessed Virgin Mary, except for sin. He died on the cross to save mankind and He ascended into heaven. He will come again "to judge the living and the dead," that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father

Why Are There So Many Christian Denominations? Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one... I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The kingdom of heaven may be compared to someone who sowed good seed in his field; but while everybody was asleep, an enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and then went away. So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared as well. Making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all. That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge. ...the head, from whom the whole body, nourished and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows with a growth that is from God.

78. Questions On Doctrine -- The Book
The book, Seventhday Adventists Answer Questions On Doctrine was written in 1957 to answer specific questions asked by certain scholars and representatives of other christian denominations as to what SDAs believe on certain major doctrinal points. It covers only those areas in which other Christians wanted explanation of things they had heard about SDA beliefs.

At Issue Index
AN EXPLANATION OF CERTAIN MAJOR ASPECTS OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST BELIEF Prepared by a Representative Group of Seventh-day Adventist Leaders, Bible Teachers, and Editors

Reproduced on the At Issue site by permission. The book, Seventh-day Adventists Answer Questions On Doctrine was written to answer specific questions asked by certain scholars and representatives of other Christian denominations as to what we believed on certain major doctrinal points. Thus it does not cover the full spectrum of SDA thought, but only those areas in which other Christians wanted explanation of things they had heard about our beliefs. After lengthy visits between these representatives and leading scholars at General Conference headquarters, the responses to these questions were published in this book and distributed widely to SDA church members. Soon after Questions On Doctrine came out, however, a retired SDA educator who had not been consulted on the book opposed it publicly on the grounds of his understanding of some of the things said about certain aspects of the sanctuary and the nature of the human nature of Christ. As a direct result of the controversy thus stirred up, the book was not reprinted and most persons have had no opportunity to examine it for themselves but are acquainted with it only through quotations and criticisms. It is, however, still used and valued by many SDA scholars, educators, administrators, and pastors, as well as by those laymen fortunate enough to have a copy of their own, and we have had many requests to make it available to online readers. We believe that it will be especially valuable to any who wonder about some of the differences (or perceived differences) between SDA thought and that of other conservative Christians.
