82. Getting To Know God
From the christadelphian booklet of the same name.
http://vvv.com/~adelphi/getting.html
Getting to know God
Where is the Basis God's Self-Revelation God is Eternal The Greatness of God ... Our God is Real
WHAT THE BIBLE REVEALS
FROM time to time surveys are undertaken asking people whether they believe in God. Surprisingly about 60% usually say they do, though only about 10% of them go regularly to a place of worship. But if the survey goes further, and asks these professed believers in God what they believe about Him, an almost incredible vagueness emerges. Their general view of God reflects their view of themselves. Most people are inclined to be indulgent towards their own failings and they think of God as necessarily being the same. "I like to think of God", they say, "as infinitely kind, always forgiving and never condemning anyone, even wrongdoers. Others will say, "Well, if God exists, and I do what I think is right, I shall get whatever reward there is." Since in part of the Western world all religions are now regarded as equally true anyway, any approach to God is as good as any other. The fact is that modern man is largely pagan. He has lost any sense of the authority of God, because he has lost any basis for belief. Left to his own imaginings, he lacks all conviction; he is confused and indifferent.

The Bible Our Guide
Plain Scriptural Teaching for the Followers of Christ
Part One
The statements on this page represent Christadelphian beliefs. The statements are deliberately challenging, asking every reader to compare his own opinions with the plain teaching of Scripture, examining carefully the Bible passages offered as proof. If, as a result, a change of mind and heart is called for, there will be no doubt that the teaching of the Lord, and the book he trusted, must be followed wherever it leads. Scripture quotations taken from the New King James (also known as the Revised Authorized) Version of the Bible.
The Bible
If we claim to follow Christ we should trust in the Scriptures as confidently as Jesus and his Apostles did: Jesus: The Scripture cannot be broken.
(John 10:35) Paul: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
(2 Timothy 3:16) Peter: For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit
(2 Peter 1:21) The things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven
(1 Peter 1:12) True faith must be founded on a fully inspired Bible.

Theologically, a cult of Christianity . Among other things, the Christadelphians reject the doctrine of the Trinity , believe that baptism is necessary for salvation , and deny the existence of a real, personal devil.
Christadelphians openly deny almost every essential doctrine of historic Christianity, including the Trinity, the deity of Christ, salvation by grace through faith, and the substitutionary atonement of Christ. They also deny the immortality of the soul and the reality of eternal conscious punishment for the wicked. Depite their rejection of orthodox Christian doctrines , they claim to be the one true church, the remnant of faithful disciples left over from a partial apostasy: ''The Bible predicted that the time would come when the original faith of the Gospel would be obscured by error, and this came to pass in the fourth century after Christ...there always have been those 'few' (Luke 12:32) from the days of the Apostles to the present ages, who have kept the light of truth shining... Each little group, down through the ages, like links in a chain, connect the testimony of the Apostles with the teaching of Christadelphians today'' ( Introducing the Christadelphians , pp. 6-7)

The name "Christadelphian" was first used in the mid-1800s, but we believe that there have been people who share our beliefs throughout history. We are confidently waiting for Christ to return to earth when he will set up the Kingdom of God. Our World What is the future for our world?
Are you afraid of what our world is coming to? As Christadelphians, we believe that the Bible reveals that God is going to send Jesus Christ back to be King of the World. He will transform it to one of everlasting peace, plenty and safety. Contact If you have any questions about Christadelphians or Bible topics.
