Information on the three local christadelphian groups.

The Coventry Christadelphians
There are three Christadelphian groups in Coventry, the East Coventry Christadelphians, West Coventry Christadelphians and the Coventry (Grosvenor Road) Christadelphians. Please contact us if you want to contact the group closest to you. The fundamental Christadelphian beliefs are:
  • The Bible is God's word and the only message from him. It is without error, except for copying and translation errors. There is only one God - the Father. The Holy spirit is God's power. Jesus is the Son of God, and a human being, through his mother Mary. By living a sinless life Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death. Jesus is currently in Heaven, on God's right hand. He will one day return. When he returns he will rule the earth and give immortality to those who have tried to follow him and do the will of God. His followers will help him to rule. Man is mortal, having no existence when dead. The reward for the faithful is eternal life on earth after Christ's return. Baptism is essential to gain this eternal life.

    The Belfast Christadelphians
The Belfast Christadelphian Ecclesia meets in thew Christadelphian Hall, 100D Ladas Drive, Belfast. We hold public Bible talks about once a month. The fundamental Christadelphian beliefs are:
  • Jesus is the Son of God, and a human being, through his mother Mary. Man is mortal, having no existence when dead. By living a sinless life, ending with his sacrificial death by crucifixion, Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death. Belief and baptism are essential steps to salvation. When Jesus returns, he will raise his "sleeping" followers from death and grant immortality to the faithful who have tried to live by God's precepts. His followers will help him to rule, bringing justice, righteousness and peace to the whole world - the Kingdom of God.

    Overview:
The Christadelphians are a small Christian denomination. They might best be described as a conservative Christian movement which differs from conventional denominations in their beliefs concerning the nature of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and Satan. Some conservative Christians in the Counter-Cult Movement (CCM) consider the Christadelphians to be a cult. Religious liberals, academic researchers, and others consider them a new religious movement.
    History:
The movement was founded by physician John Thomas (1805-1871) who had left the Disciples of Christ in 1844, because of a number of theological disagreements. He started a periodical that same year, called "The Herald of the Future Age" . Thomas wrote a book in 1848, titled "Elpis Israel - An Exposition of the Kingdom of God." He founded a number of groups, starting in 1848. They were commonly referred to as the Thomasites . His motivation was to return to what he believed to be the beliefs of the very early Christian church. In 1864, the group adopted a formal name, the

Our activities are aimed primarily at the age group 5 to 16, which is an age band where children are generally too young to attend Christadelphian Young Peoples Study Groups and Study Weekends, which are aimed at young people usually aged 16+. All our events have a Scriptural content in the form of either Bible readings or a short Bible talk. Each year we hold a Quiz Evening, Rounders Competition, Sports Day, Ramble and Swimming Gala and entry for these events should be made through a Christadelphian Youth Group Leader or Sunday School Superintendant. John Thomas (Christadelphian)
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Dr. John Thomas April 12 March 5 ) was the founder of the Christadelphians He was born in London England but in , after studying medicine in London, emigrated to Brooklyn , N.Y., in the United States. He became closely associated with Dr. Alexander Campbell , founder of the movement that later became the Churches of Christ . However, differences of opinion arose over doctrine, and Thomas and others eventually broke with Campbell in the late 1840s. As a writer and editor of a series of books and journals on Biblical matters, Thomas gained support for his ideas both in North America and Britain. He made several lecturing tours, including to Britain, resulting in a number of converts. He preached largely on the application of Bible prophecy to current and future events. In the early years, those who held to Thomas's doctrinal views met under various names. The name Christadelphian was coined by Thomas during the American Civil War , when a group affiliation was required to register for conscientious objector status.

A GROUP OF PEOPLE SIMILAR TO THE EARLY CHRISTIANS
The Christadelphians Down through the centuries of time, alongside the mainstream of Christendom, there have always been other small groups who could not for conscience sake be part of the majority. Marked by their strict adherence to the Word of God, these groups were made up of common people who made few ripples on the political scene. The Donatists, Waldenses, Paulicans and Hugenots were some of the more prominent groups that history texts may have passed by, had it not been for the hatred and contempt shown toward them by those with power and authority. These people chose to live quiet and peaceable lives with the Bible as the focal point, but they didn't conform to the traditional line and so were condemned as heretics and suffered banishment, massacre and torture. Today, a group of people with similar markings is the Christadelphians. Bertrand Russel, a noted English philosopher in his book, Power, A New Social Analysis, wrote on page 109, "Christianity was in its earliest days, entirely unpolitical. The best representatives in our time are the Christadelphians..." If the Church had the political power today that it had during the times of the above-mentioned groups, the plight of the Christadelphians would be identical.
