What is Celtic Christianity? The idea that there was a ‘Celtic’ flavour of Christianity probably dates back to the time of the Venerable Bede, who saw the older churches of his westerly, Celtic, neighbours as centres for great learning and piety, as well as for more controversial issues of diversity of practice. In the modern era, people continue to look to the piety, learning and colour of the Christianity of early Brittany, Cornwall, Man, Ireland, Scotland and Wales for inspiration and for a model of an early Christianity which was rooted in western Europe. Pilgrims to the ancient churches of Celtic Britain, Ireland and Brittany continue to be moved by the beauty of the setting of the earliest Christian sites. Manuscript collections in libraries all over Europe bear witness to the genius of Celtic Christians.

Churches of Ireland, Scotland, Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, and northern Italy
    Translated and Rubricated by
    Priest Kristopher Dowling, S.S.B.

    Edited by Matushka Elisabeth Dowling
From Kristopher's Notes on the the Missal: This Missal is a translation from the Latin and Gaelic Missal transcribed at Lorrha Monastery in the Ninth Century. The Lorrha Missal is also known as the 'Stowe' Missal due to its acquisition by one of the Dukes of Buckingham for his Stowe Library. The form of the Liturgy and Services of Baptism and Unction found here reflect a true Celtic usage dating before 650 AD. Whether this is the usage brought by St. Patrick in the early Fifth Century, or a later revision is not certain, but this is a usage which was used during an era age in which Christianity was neither universal nor fully understood. Therefore, it explains in graphic detail the redemptive acts of the Incarnation of Jesus Christ, His Birth, Death and Resurrection. The writer(s) assumes that those participating in the Mystery of the Eucharist must have every detail repeated clearly.

    http://celticchristianity.org/library/wru.html
Celtic Orthodox Christian Church What is the original Celtic Christianity
True Celtic Christianity follows the complete Christian Faith, and calls to mind some often overlooked truths. They are not beliefs which should distinguish us from any other right-believing church, but are necessary components of the True Christian Faith which are sadly neglected in our time. Among those beliefs are:
    • The world can be an opportunity for encountering God's Grace. We are supposed to be co-workers with God, to heal and bless the world. All of our acts should be appropriate to be worthy offerings to God. We are united in the Body of Christ by sharing the same Faith and Sacraments regardless of time or place, in a holy "chain of charity." Only the combination of fidelity to the Christian Faith and the succession of Grace in the Apostolic succession of Bishops is sufficient for a church to be a member of the Body of Christ.
An additional, very detailed, essay: Our Bishops' Statement What does Celtic Christianity offer to the rest of the Church?
True Celtic Christianity offers the the Undivided Church's understanding of Christianity. Throughout the history of Christianity various groups created new, less authentic, understandings of God's teachings and fell away from the Body of Christ. This sad history has continued to our time. Celtic Christianity offers a chance to resist that abandonment of Christ. We reject any attempt, past or present, to alter the Christian Doctrine, Sacraments or morals. We call all who truly seek Christ and His Church to the True, unaltered, Faith He taught and the Sacraments He instituted.

A brief look at historic celtic christianity and is application to the modern world.
    http://grailchurch.org/celtic.htm
menu T HE CAMBRIAN EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF THE GRAIL Ancient Church of Cambria WHAT IS CELTIC CHRISTIANITY? Specifically, Celtic Christianity refers to the branch of Christianity which was unique to the peoples of the British Isles during the early Middle Ages. Although there is some debate over exactly when and how Christianity got to the British Isles, there is no doubt that it was firmly established by the 2nd Century, because Ireneaus, the Bishop of Lyon, had significant interaction with them. The first, great Celtic son was Morien, also known as Pelagius. Pelagius was a spokesman for Celtic theology. Pelagius has been labeled as a heretic by traditional theologians because they favor a Latin version of Christianity. Pelagius' opponent, Augustine, succeeded in expelling the Pelagians out of the Roman Empire during the 5th Century. Augustine became the father of Latin Christianity. Celtic Christianity holds to a balanced view of the Biblical doctrines of free-will and predestination. Ostensibly, these doctrines were the focus of controversy between Augustine and Pelagius. Through the centuries, Pelagian Celts have emphasized the individual's responsibility to obey God's moral law. Latin Christianity has tended to rely upon the strong arm of the state. Celtic Christianity does not have much interest in the grand worship of state religion. Celtic Christians are fond of the small group and a liturgy which is an expression of personal faith. From ancient times, they have had great interest in spiritual gifts, manifestations of the Divine presence, religious revivals, and world evangelism.

    I arise today,
    Through the strength of heaven:
Light of the sun, radiance of the moon.
Splendor of fire, speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind, depth of sea,
Stability of earth and firmness of rock.
    I arise today,
Through God's strength to pilot me:
God's might to uphold me, God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me, God's ear to hear me, God's word to speak for me, God's hand to guard me, God's way to lie before me, God's shield to protect me. From the snares of devils, from temptation of vices, From everyone who shall wish me ill, Afar and near, alone and in a multitude St. Patrick My Druid is Christ, the son of God, Christ, Son of Mary, the Great Abbot, The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. St. Columba I would like to have the men of Heaven in my own house: With vats of good cheer laid out for them. I would like to have the three Marys, their fame is so great. I would like people from every corner of Heaven. I would like them to be cheerful in their drinking, I would like to have Jesus too here amongst them. I would like a great lake of beer for the King of Kings
