Nicolas of Flue
Canonized on 15 May 1947, Nicolas of Flue , also known as Brother Klaus, hermit and mystic of Obwalden, became known to Confederates over the years as one of the noblest patriotic figures, in the fashion of a "national saint". The majority in Switzerland with over three million partisans, the Roman Catholic Church is obviously well represented in this country. The beginnings
Christianity very quickly penetrated into Switzerland via the merchants and Roman soldiers. The earliest trace of Christian life in Switzerland dates back to the decline of the Roman empire: in 377, Pontius Asclepiodotus, Roman prefect of Sion, had an inscription containing the monogram of the Christ engraved on a renovated official building. From this we can deduce that the population of Sion, from the first half of the fourth century, was primarily Christian. Geneva, Martigny and Coire were the first bishoprics, but Christianization did not truly begin until the Middle Ages, due in particular to the wandering Irish and Scottish monks such as Gall, Ursicinus, Germanus, Romanus, Fintan, Pirmin and Colombanus junior.

Welcome to Craom.Net. A new Christian Apologetics website designed to help all who are seeking the Truth. We have various articles on Islam, Mormons, Jehovah witnesses, Word faith movement, Prosperity gospel, Roman Catholics, and many more. Craom.Net understands and knows that the bible is the absolute authority and basis for all truth. We are dedicated for the truth and are for the Truth. We understand that heresy and false doctrines are all around us and one of the biggest reasons why we are on the web is to help people see and find the Truth. And the main reason is to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to all. Now days there are new doctrines and false movements rising up in the name of Christ but are not of Christ. Although millions of people might follow some teaching, that does not make it right. Our prayer is that the blind may see the Truth, and be saved. This site is not made for Christians only; we are here to serve all who are seeking the Truth. Please bookmark our site and visit us again. We update our web site every week. Roman Catholicism: A Biblical Analysis
By: Brian Schwertley
Edited by: Stephen Pribble
There are two types of religion in the world today: religions of the imagination (what men and demons have made up) and the religion of revelation (what God by His grace has given to man in the Bible). The purpose of this booklet is to examine some important Roman Catholic doctrines in the light of the Bible and determine if these doctrines are in harmony with, or contrary to, the clear teaching of God’s Word. Because the Roman Catholic Church believes (as does the author) that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, all good Roman Catholics should study the Bible for themselves and abide by its teachings. As Pope Pius XII stated, “To ignore the Scripture is to ignore Christ.” Authority. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that the Bible and tradition as interpreted by the Church are the final seat of authority in religion. Jesus condemned tradition as a rule for religious authority and exalted the Word of God: “The Pharisees and Scribes asked him, ‘Why do not thy disciples walk according to the tradition of the ancients...?’ But answering he said to them, ‘...in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine the precepts of men. For letting go the commandment of God, you hold fast the tradition of men.... Well do you nullify the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.... You make void the commandment of God by your tradition’” (Mk. 7:5-13 DB).

    88. ORTHODOXY AND ROMAN CATHOLICISM
Unlike Roman catholicism, she does not build on the results of philosophy and Roman catholicism, on the other hand, places a high value on human reason.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ORTHODOXY AND ROMAN CATHOLICISM?
    By Father Michael Azkoul
St. Catherine Mission, St. Louis, MO
Reproduced with permission from The Orthodox Christian Witness, Vol. XXVII (48), Vol. XXVIII (6) and (8), 1994.
May not be reproduced without permission This question has been asked many times. Most Orthodox, in attempting to distinguish between Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism, usually mention the Pope or Purgatory, sometimes the filioque. Historically, the differences, however, are far more numerous and quite profound. Also, in modern times, since Vatican II of thirty years ago, that major, if not tragic attempt, to "update" Roman Catholicism (e.g., the revision of canon law), the differences between Orthodoxy and the followers of the Pope have widened. In our present discussion, however, the concern will be those differences which have grown since Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism separated almost a thousand years ago. 1. Faith and Reason Following the Holy Fathers, Orthodoxy uses science and philosophy to defend and explain her Faith. Unlike Roman Catholicism, she does not build on the results of philosophy and science. The Church does not seek to reconcile faith and reason. She makes no effort to prove by logic or science what Christ gave His followers to believe. If physics or biology or chemistry or philosophy lends support to the teachings of the Church, she does not refuse them. However, Orthodoxy is not intimidated by man's intellectual accomplishments. She does not bow to them and change the Christian Faith to make it consistent with the results of human thought and science.

    THE INTEGRATION
    OF ROMAN CATHOLICISM
    INTO VODOU IN HAITI
    By
    Dar Shvueli
May 2000 In this paper I will attempt to bring forth the different ways in which the Roman Catholic church has influenced and has been integrated into the vodou religion in the Caribbean island of Haiti. Though the two religions hold very different beliefs and oppose each other at their very core , they have been coexisting in Haiti for 500 years. Throughout the turmoil this island has seen, the two religions interacted in such ways that they both became unique. History of Vodou Vodou is based on west African religions. It was brought to the new world from countries such as Kongo, along with the enslaved Africans at the very beginning of the 16th century. In different forms, similar religions can still be found today in countries such as Benin, where the Fon religion is largely practiced. Literally the word vodu or vodun can be translated as "deity" or "Spirit". Vodou is more than just a religion - it is a way of life. It encompasses everything from folk art and folk stories, to medicine practices and ethics. Followers of vodou do not have to sign up as members of a certain church or temple. Rather, it is a religion that is part of everyday life. There are of course as can be found in most other religions, rituals and ceremonies to accompany major changes in life such as birth and death. However, the essence of this religion follows it’s believers in their daily tasks. History of Catholicism in Haiti

    Sixteenth till eighteenth Century
The Dutch uprising against Spain, started in the sixties of the sixteenth century, became more and more dominated by the battle between Protestants and Catholics. In the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands (Zeven Verenigde Nederlanden) the Dutch reformed church was treated as the "one true religion" and therefore treated in a privileged manner, all though she was never given the status of State Church. In this way the Republic developed as a multiconfessional society, in which the Catholics, as a minority church, could maintain themselves pretty well as a minority church, all though they had to go to great costs to receive dispensation of anti-Catholic measures ('plakkaten').
Still, the number of Catholics crumbled gradually, because they were, in practice, excluded from high places/functions, and on the other hand they scarcely profited from the charity system of poor relief.
The Utrecht church province (the area above the river Waal) was hardly established in 1592 when it was again declared mission territory by Rome in 1592. The so-called

    Muscular Catholicism
    Annabel Miller
Last week, The Tablet ’s reporter-at-large met members of the Catholic organisation Opus Dei in England, and heard about the sense of spiritual fulfilment which their commitment brings them. This week, she hears from members who left.
In England at least, many Catholics are nervous of Opus Dei. That is often because of the accounts of their experiences given by ex-members. Take "Mary" (not her real name), for instance. She was a sixth-form student in a convent in the north of England at the end of the 1950s. She was a pious girl, who was often seen in the chapel at lunchtime. She loved French. When her French teacher invited her to help at an Opus Dei summer school, saying it would be a chance to improve her language skills, she agreed. But when she arrived, there were no French speakers there. The teacher tried to interest her in joining Opus Dei. The following Christmas, she became a supernumerary member. "My headmistress had tried to persuade me to be a nun. But the idea of joining an organisation like Opus while remaining in the world and following a career really appealed." Mary was in love with a young man who was also a supernumerary member. When he decided to become a numerary (a member who makes a promise of celibacy), she followed suit. "I was very happy", she told me. "I went up the ladder quickly. I was sent to London to work at the women’s headquarters there."
