The Plymouth Brethren
The following page includes three papers written by Miles J. Stanford on the subject of the Plymouth Brethren (PBs)both the Open and Closed varieties. The Plymouth Brethren (often known throughout the world as Assemblies or Gospel Halls) are a small groups of Christians with a deep and rich history. The PBs should not be confused with any "Brethren" out of the Continental Free Church tradition, (such as the Church of the Brethren, Brethren Church, etc.), nor the Arminian Pentecostal Assemblies of God. For decades, the PBs reached out with their various needs to brother Miles Stanford by telephone and letter, yet often in pride and denial that they could be helped or ministered to by someone "outside" their Assembly system. However, it is often only an outsider who is in a position to evaluated conditions as they truly are, rather than how insiders represent them to be. Miles' burden was always that the PBs would discover the rich legacy of Pauline Dispensationalism established by the original founders of the movement. The green titles above and below are links to specific articles.

Brethren Groups
is a document that will acquaint you with a historical, non-theological outline of the several denominations using the word Brethren in their label, and hopefully give you an overview of how we all fit together. One common denominator which usually holds true for most Brethren groups is that each progenitive body originated in central Europe under the influence of Anabaptism or Pietism, during the Fifteenth to Eighteenth centuries. There are so many Christian denominations and sub-groups using the term Brethren, that questions frequently arise over their relationship with each other.

    Basic Beliefs
Within the Church of the Brethren
FOREWORD More than two centuries ago in Germany, a new fellowship of Christian believers was formed. The established churches had become rich, powerful, and corrupt. They no longer proclaimed the simple message of the New Testament. Alexander Mack and other Pietists set out to form a church as nearly like the First Century Church as possible, and they took the New Testament as their rule of faith and practice. The Church of the Brethren is the present name given to that new fellowship. Most of the Brethren migrated to America in the 1720s. In basic orientation and background, the Brethren are Anabaptist (reject infant baptism) and Pietist (emphasize holy living). Brethren have historically accepted the basic Christian doctrines along with practices sometimes neglected by major groups of Christians. These include a commitment to peace and reconciliation, an emphasis on simple living, an opposition to taking oaths, the maintenance of a strong and wholesome family life, service to neighbors, and the practice of outward symbols taught in the New Testament (such as feetwashing and the sisters' veiling). The Brethren have sometimes become careless in applying biblical mandates, and because of this, a loosely knit network of people have formed the Brethren Revival Fellowship, which is a renewal movement in the Church of the Brethren. Brethren Revival Fellowship distributes this
