They are choice servants of God who have dedicated their lives to the area of counter-cult and discernment ministry. In a day when America is no longer one nation under God, but one nation under many concepts of God the ministry of the Tennessee Valley Bible Students Association is a much needed gift to the body of Christ at large. .. Our entire congregation was blessed by their presentations. This ministry is much needed in our day of tolerance and pluralism. The Martinez' focus is to help teach the Body of Christ how to have discernment in this trying hour. They will bless you and yours if given the opportunity to minister. 86. Bible Students - Who We Are
The bible students is the name chosen by a group of Christians who claim no denominational To the bible students, the Bible is more than a book.
http://www.bibleplanofgod.com/whoweare.htm
Who are the Bible Students? The Bible Students is the name chosen by a group of Christians who claim no denominational affiliation, hold no creeds of men, and strive to understand what is happening in God's plan now. Our basis for conclusion is the Word of God, study helps (topical study aids, Bible dictionaries, concordances, and secular history etc., and thereby refer to ourselves as Bible Students). Bible Students acknowledge the Bible as God's. God's written word which he has preserved even though human authors have been used. This acknowledgment is not in parts or proportions, but the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. "Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book." (Jer 30:2) Bible Students go beyond the clergy, the priests, the scholars, the philosophers or the archaeologists by consecrating their lives in the study of the Bible from cover to cover to determine the truths from God. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (2 Tim 3:16; Isa 26:9) Bible Students seek harmony and consistency of the scriptural testimony within the Bible itself as well as with established facts from science, history, archaeology, religion and culture. "He Himself entered the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews." (Acts 18:19)

Hill, ThB THE EARLY YEARS AND THE SCHISMS Russell used the printed page in very effective ways to spread his new found truth. These views were brought to the public in a non-ending stream of publications. His first magazine, co-published with N. H. Barbour was entitled The Herald of the Morning . After Russell split with Barbour over some doctrinal differences he began publishing . This publication now has its more familiar name as The Watchtower , published by the WTBTS. His opus magnus, Studies in the Scriptures , have sold tens of millions of editions. These books, in six volumes, hold the key to the entire theology of this American made religion. Along with his Studies series he also wrote books entitled Return, Food for Thinking Christians Tabernacle Shadows and many other still popular tomes using the "What Say Scriptures about . . . "which included such topics as hell and spiritism. Russell also had a popular touring exhibit advertised as "The Photo-Drama of Creation." This road show, according to early Watchtower sources, was seen by twelve million people. A book by the same name incorporating the photos and themes of the exhibition coincided with the tour. Adding to this partial list of his works are the twelve hundred congregations which voted him their Pastor, two thousand newspapers carrying his weekly sermons with fifteen million readers, with an international base of growing members.

Many preachers speak frowningly about people who study the Bible in a more systematic way. They spitefully call such people "amateur theologians" and look down on their bible study. Those preachers discourage "amateur bible students" and want them to leave the Bible to "professional theologians" or "clergy". But, what does the Bible say about these things? This essay takes a closer look at that matter. The etymology (roots) of the words professional amateur and theologian are interesting. Consider their origin and meaning: Theologian - from Theos (God) and logos ("reckoning", "word", "discourse" and so on). In other words: Anyone who studies things connected to God and the Bible, is a theologian . All believers should be that, of course. Professional - someone who does something for gain or livelihood (for profit ). "Profit" in its turn means "gain", "earnings", "lucre", and so on.

One of the distinctive characteristics of the United Bible Societies' translation program is its involvement in scholarly editions and helps for translators. Bible Society personnel have contributed significantly to the development of the theory and practice of translation, and have also provided a wide range of scholarly and practical tools for Bible translators. These materials are generally classified as “Helps for Translators.” These include the translators handbooks and guides , the journal The Bible Translator , as well as other books that deal either with theory or practical things such as how to prepare manuscripts or Bible indexes. Another facet of this program is the publication of scholarly editions. These include the Greek and Hebrew texts used by translators, and materials based on those such as

The Proceedings of the Society for the Study of the American Wombat Main July 02, 2004 Friday Quiz #115: Bible Students' Delight It was originally created in Whitechapel, London. It bears a quotation from Leviticus, chapter 25 (which among other things tells us "And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.") In 1915, half a million Californians signed a petition, asking that it be brought to San Francisco for the Panama-Pacific Exposition (it was). What is it? First correct answer posted to comments wins a slighty chewed up Baby Heisenberg DVD (like "Baby Einstein," but focused more on early acquisition of the basic paradoxes in subatomic physics). 94. HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE 1
The Bible is the basic textbook of bible students. It is the duty of the Bible student to determine that meaning in any given context.
http://www.mindspring.com/~mamcgee/grace_biblehow1.html
HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE 1
My first experience with Bible study after becoming a Christian was following along while the pastor taught and reading every conservative book on theology I could find. That can lead a young Christian down many paths because of differences among pastors and authors. The best experience with Bible study after becoming a Christian was taking a college course in methodical Bible study. The purpose of this four-part study course is to introduce you to the basics of that study.
Methodical Bible Study
The steps to methodical study are simple, yet profound and life changing. I'll outline the course for your information. Please study it further. It will do you very well throughout your life. The college text is titled "Methodical Bible Study: A New Approach to Hermeneutics" by Dr. Robert Traina.
  • The Bible is worth studying.
  • Methodical study is inductive. There are two main approaches to Bible study. One is deductive. The other is inductive. Deductive begins with generalizations and moves for support to the particulars. Deduction is subjective and prejudicial. It produces students who dictate to the Scriptures rather than students who listen to the Scriptures. On the other hand, inductive is objective and impartial. It demands that a student first examine the particulars of the Scriptures and then make conclusions based on those particulars.
  • The Bible is the basic textbook of Bible students.

The Truth About Hell (A Dawn Bible Student Publication) CHAPTER 1 THE WAGES OF SIN "The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."—Romans 6:23 The Bible clearly teaches that by divine decree there is an adequate yet just punishment for sin. What is the nature of this punishment? Our text declares that the "wages" of sin is death, and one might think that such a statement of fact would settle the question in the minds of all; but there are differing views as to what the Bible means by "death." We all realize, of course, that the Bible was not written in the English language, and that the versions we use are translations from the Hebrew of the Old Testament, and the Greek of the New Testament. There was a time when this presented a real barrier to critical Bible study on the part of any except those conversant with the Hebrew and Greek languages. But now Hebrew and Greek concordances of the Bible are available, in which can be found the true meaning of the original words used in any text on which there may be a variance of opinion. This is a great help, It is also important to realize that the Lord often speaks to his people in pictorial, or symbolic language. Many of God's most precious promises are presented in picture form, as for example, "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters."—Ps. 23:1,2
