The Book of Common Prayer is one of the major works of English literature. Since its introduction in the mid-1500's it has exerted enormous influence on the religious and literary lives of all who speak the English language. The Book of Common Prayer has gone through a number of editions, not only in England where it originated, but in all the places where the various Churches of the Anglican communion are now active. We present here over two dozen Books of Common Prayer, and related works, from all over the Anglican Communion. Click on one of the links at left and start exploring. I live with Carolyn, my best friend and wife of 35+ years, at Chelsea - a seaside suburb
of Melbourne, Australia. Our three adult children - Angela, Andrew and Kirsty - are now all married. Angela and Andrew are married to Mathew and Hayley, respectively. At the time of writing, Andrew and Hayley have three beautiful girls and Angela and Mathew's first born, Aimee, is now 19 months old - and absolutely gorgeous!! - whilst Kirsty and Simon are well past their first wedding anniversary. How time flies!
We are quite enjoying the life of 'Darby and Joan' and the freedoms it allows. We're also fortunate that our children all live in Melboune, with two only a few kilometres away. Also "Ginger", our little Jack Russell-Chihuahua cross - a delightful 'people loving' dog - has totally stolen our hearts and helps fill the absence of children at home in a lovely way.
In 2002 I fulfilled a life-long ambition of owning a classic English car when we purchased a 1947 Austin 16 sedan. It has opened up another great avenue of interest. Links to Some Sites of Interest

The Reverend Fred Carson joined our community in November 2003. Our worship services continue at 10:00 on Sunday mornings. We can be contacted by telephoning (250) 774-6427. Everyone is most welcome to attend. Sunday School and Nursery Care are generally offered at the same time as the morning services. Our parish tries to utilize all the gifts that our members have been given. To that end we have members leading our praise times, readings and prayers during our services. Throughout the year we hold special events to help our members grow in Christ, and to encourage fellowship.
The church has recently acquired an email address. Fred Carson can be reached by

157. Peter Abelard, Abbot, Theologian, Philosopher
Biographical essay with some translated hymns and prayers by this Scholastic thinker.
The "heavenly birthday" of Anselm is also that of Peter Abelard, a brilliant lecturer, debater, and philosopher of the following generation. Anselm and Abelard are often regarded as two poles in Christian understanding of the Atonement (see articles cited in the entry for Anselm ). (Note: In books and articles about Abelard, you may find references to his dealings, not always friendly, with a scholar named Anselm of Laon. This man should not be confused with Anselm of Canterbury.) Pierre du Pallet (who while at college took the nickname "Abelard" as his surname) was born in 1079 at Palets, a Breton town near Nantes, of parents who belonged to the minor nobility. His lifetime coincides with the great era of Gothic cathedral-building in France and elsewhere, and with the rise of the great medieval universities at Paris, Chartres, Bologna, Oxford, and elsewhere. Abelard from his earliest years showed an aptitude and inclination for an academic career, and as a young man entered the University of Paris, where he rapidly acquired a reputation for intelligence, wit, debating skill, arrogance, and embarrassing his professors. In his day, theologians tended to prove their points chiefly by quoting statements from the Church Fathers. Abelard produced a book called

The Diocese represents the ministry of the Church of England in Surrey and North East Hampshire. It covers an area of 500 square miles and includes two small sections of Greater London and Sussex. The Diocese consists of 164 parishes, some 217 churches and around 90 schools alongside an administrative network based at Diocesan House, Quarry Street, Guildford. Guildford Cathedral, visible for miles on Stag Hill close to the A3, is a prominent symbol of our presence in the area. Guildford Diocese has around 1000 trained ministers and clergy, many of them unpaid. This number includes chaplains, who often work with groups of volunteers serving colleges, hospitals, prisons and other centres of public life. Anglican parishes provide more youth and children’s workers by far than any other organisation in the region.

Welcome to the Diocese of Perú
The Diocese of Perú is a missionary diocese comprised of a few growing congregations, forming a part of the Body of Christ in South America's third largest country. We have congregations in Lima and Arequipa, as well as numerous programs and social outreach so desperately needed in this poor nation. As a missionary diocese , we rely on support from Missionary personnel, Missionary organizations, and direct support from churches and individuals. The Diocese of Perú is part of the Anglican Communion, which is both catholic and evangelical. This means that Christ is at the center of all that we do, and we experience Christ in a variety of different ways. Being catholic , we believe in the universality of what we do in our social outreach and prayer for others. We encounter Christ in the sacraments and in worship. Being evangelical we believe in the primacy of scripture and its as centrality to the faith and mission as vital to the spreading of the Gospel, another way that we encounter Christ.

Affirming Catholicism The New Catholic Movement in the Anglican/Episcopal Church Affirming Catholicism began with a conference on Saturday 9 June, 1990, at St. Alban's church, Holborn - just outside the City of London. The clarion call from Rowan Williams, now Archbishop of Canterbury, was for Anglo-Catholics to affirm tradition 'in its proper and fullest sense', not as a 'lifeboat in which to escape the present' but as 'a crucible in which the experiment of Christian life is constantly tested'.
