The term Anglican (from the " Angles " or English) describes those people and churches following the religious traditions developed by the established Church of England . The Anglican Communion codifies the Anglican relationship to the Church of England as a theologically broad and often diverging community of churches, which holds the English church as its mother institution. Adherents of Anglicanism number in the tens of millions worldwide. The issue of Catholic and Protestant affiliation is often confusing. Many churches of the Anglican Communion regard themselves as Protestant churches, while others, such as Anglo-Catholics , would deny being Protestant at all. The Church of England claims explicitly that the Church "upholds the catholic faith" (however, the Athanasian Creed states "And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the persons, nor dividing the substance." The phrase "catholic church" by definition means the universal Christian Church). The conduct of eucharistically centred worship services is in keeping with the catholic liturgical tradition, and the Communion emphasises its status of full communion with the

Anglican Communion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
(Redirected from Anglican Church The Anglican Communion uses the compass rose as its symbol, signifying its worldwide reach and decentralized nature. It is topped, like ecclesiastical coats of arms, by a bishop's mitre ; in the center is a cross of St. George recalling the communion's origins in the Church of England . The motto, ‘η ’αληθεια ’ελευθερωσει ‘υμας, in Greek , means "The truth will set you free." The Anglican Communion is a world-wide organization of Anglican Churches. There is no single "Anglican Church" since each national or regional church has full autonomy; as the name suggests, rather, the Anglican Communion is an association of these churches in full communion with each other and particularly with the Church of England , which may be regarded as the "mother church" of the worldwide communion. The Corrupted Church: A Comment on the Pragmatism of To Set Our Hope On Christ
by The Rev'd Doctor Ephraim Radner, Senior Fellow, (Sep 6, 2005)
David Brooks has called this the “Hobbesian Decade”. Looking at all the social, international, and natural disordering of lives of the present, and the responses we have collectively offered in return, he sees these years we are living in a special way as the throbbing image of our desperate and brutal humanity. It isn’t exactly clear why some decades deserve such characterization more than others. As I close in on fifty years, perhaps age has simply made such distinctions less obvious to me. And why also I may secretly seek alternative hopes. Who doesn’t? Either join someone praying at the prayer room, or sign up for some of the remaining free hours. Welcome to the Anglican Library. The aim of the Anglican Library is to publish new HTML editions of Christian literature from the Anglican tradition and other works that have traditionally been of interest to Anglicans. In addition, we hope to serve as a guide to Anglican literature located elsewhere on the internet. Our latest additions are Essays in Orthodoxy , by O.C. Quick , and The High Church Tradition by G.W.O. Addleshaw. We have also recently added 59 Sermons by George Whitefield , Bishop Hugh Latimer's Sermons on the Card and Other Discourses , and another sermon " Thou Canst Make me Clean Other recent additions include two short works by J.C. Ryle ; the first is an important reminder of the centrality of the Cross in Christian teaching entitled, The Cross: A Call to the Fundamentals of Religion , and the second is entitled The Duties of Parents It is our sincere hope that the Anglican Library provides a service to the dedicated scholar and the inquiring reader alike.
