The large neurofibromatosis lesions in this patient increased extensively during the latter part of pregnancy, mainly as the result of massive hemorrhage within the masses. Additionally, the patient developed partial paralysis of the lower extremities resulting in inability to walk. This was thought to be due either to the development of neurofibromatosis or to enlargement of a previously existing intraspinal small neurofibromatosis lesion. In view of exacerbation of von Recklinghausen's disease during pregnancy, as reported here and recorded by others, and its hereditary transmission (autosomal dominant gene), early termination of pregnancy and sterilization are recommended. Refiere presentar desde hace 6 años aparición de nódulos superficiales duro elásticos no adheridos a planos profundos de crecimiento progresivo en región parieto-occipital, realizándose extirpación quirúrgica del mismo. Presenta luego aparición de nódulos de similares características en antebrazo y tronco, con máculas de color café con leche, por lo que consulta siendo internada para diagnóstico y tratamiento. Datos positivos al examen físico: Signos vitales dentro de parámetros normales. Presencia de nódulos superficiales y subcutáneos múltiples hipercrómicos en tronco y antebrazos no adherido a planos profundos, no dolorosos sin flogosis (Fotos A y B). The patient showed an excellent symptomatic response to bromocriptine mesylate treatment.
