Welcome to The National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia (NATT) The National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia (NATT) is a nationwide, community-based, volunteer health organization formed in August 2003. Committed to preventing and treating the array of major health problems caused by blood clots, NATT’s charter members were visionary patients attending a thrombosis and thrombophilia awareness meeting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Today, NATT’s membership and influence is growing. With the goal to ensure that people suffering from thrombosis and thrombophilia get early diagnosis, optimal treatment, and quality support, NATT members are committed to fostering research, education, support, and advocacy on behalf of those at risk of, or affected by, blood clots. Click here to download our Spring 2005 newsletter!! A primary goal of NATT is to provide education and information to individuals and families affected by blood clots and blood clotting disorders. NATT is currently working on developing it’s own materials to address these topics. In the meantime, members of the Education Committee have identified and reviewed published materials in various subject areas, which we hope are relevant to you. - Start learning right now!

Biological Methods of Therapy Program.
We, at the Biological Therapy Clinic, provide an effective alternative means of curing many serious diseases including some that stymie modern conventional medicine such as; inoperable cancer and paralysis caused by severe cerbral thrombosis.
We use a holistic approach over a period of approximately one to two months that includes:
  • Biological energy therapy to restore the body's energy balance to its pre-injured state. Nutritional therapy based on dietary changes to restore the body's immune system. Colon therapy to clear out the body's accumulated poisons.
Our core medical staff, who are all citizens of Moldova, consist of a specialist-healer, a body energy information analyst and an assistant. To assist our foreign patients we also provide the services of interpreters who are fluent in various foreign languages.
Our staff is in a position to attend to the needs of our patients in the comfort of their own homes where ever that might be, although the cost of their travel, accommodation and meals must be born by the patient, with payment made in advance. Despite the inconvenience we recommend whenever possible that patients attend our clinic in Chisinau, Moldova. This will allow us to ensure the best results possible and the most trouble-free treatment. In the event of travel to our clinic, patients will be met at Chisinau International airport and we will take care of all entrance formalities for them, their attending physician(s) if that is required, and accompanying family members, and will arrange for transportation and accommodation at one of Chisinau's 4 star Western European class hotels.

Airlines urged to issue health warnings
LONDON, England Airlines have been told they should issue health warnings with their tickets to inform passengers of the dangers of a potentially fatal condition which could strike during flights. The recommendation from a British parliamentary committee comes amid growing concerns over deep vein thrombosis (DVT), also known as "economy class syndrome", after a woman died from the condition after a long haul flight.

Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism
What is a deep vein thrombosis and a pulmonary embolism?
A vein is a blood vessel that returns blood from the tissues of the body back to the heart. The body has two distinct systems of veins, a superficial system and a deep system. The superficial system is made up of veins that are close to the skin. These are the blood vessels you frequently can see on your hand or arms and which become more prominent when you exercise. The deep system is comprised of veins within the muscles of the body. The two systems are connected by small communicating veins. The body regulates the amount of blood going through both systems as a way of rigidly controlling the body's central temperature. (More heat is lost when blood flows through the superficial than the deep system.) A DVT is a condition wherein a blood clot (thrombus) forms in a vein of the deep system. Thrombophlebitis is a condition in which there is both inflammation and a blood clot in a vein. Thrombophlebitis can occur in either superficial or deep veins. Superficial thrombophlebitis occurs in veins close to the skin surface, and usually causes pain, swelling, and redness in the area of the vein. Superficial thrombophlebitis usually is treated with heat, elevation of the affected leg or arm, and anti-inflammatory medications. A thrombosis in a deep vein is a much more serious problem than one in a superficial vein. The reason for this is that a piece of the clot in DVT may break off and travel through the deep veins back to the heart, and eventually be pumped by the heart into the arteries of the lung. When this happens, the condition is called pulmonary embolism. The blood clot is called an embolus (for which the plural is emboli), and the process of breaking off and traveling to the lungs is called embolism.

Craig Hooper and Bruce L. Evatt Introduction Pathophysiology APC-R and Factor V Leiden: Clinical Features FV Leiden in Women ... References Introduction Following myocardial infarction and stroke, venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the third most common cardiovascular disease in the United States. The mortality and morbidity of VTE is significant with an annual incidence of approximately 1:1000 individuals and pulmonary embolism is a leading cause of in-patient hospital deaths (1,2). It has been estimated that venous thrombosis is responsible for between 300,000-600,000 hospitalizations and up to 100,000 deaths annually (3,4). The clinical consequences of venous thrombosis such as chronic venous insufficiency with skin ulceration affects up to 500,000 individuals per year. Studies have reported that as many as 90% of patients with venous thrombosis suffer significant disabilities at 2-5 year follow-up intervals (5). The current health costs associated with VTE are significant and are expected to rise as the prevalence of VTE increases in the aging population (6,7). The purpose of this review is to briefly re-acquaint the reader with the pathobiology of the anticoagulant protein system and to review the clinical implications of APC-R.

ABSTRACT Background Cerebral sinovenous thrombosis in children is a serious disorder, and information is needed about its prevention and treatment. Methods The Canadian Pediatric Ischemic Stroke Registry was initiated in 1992 at the 16 pediatric tertiary care centers in Canada. Children (newborn to 18 years of age) with symptoms and radiographic confirmation of sinovenous thrombosis were included.
