Medical Director Back to Preface Sir, I have been monitoring the E Mail of prostate sufferers for the last few months, and have noticed that they try to answer each other's questions because doctors do not seem to take this debilitating infection seriously enough. Prostatic massage as part of the treatment has been introduced to your foundation, which I have been incorporating with my treatment since 1962. I am glad to learn that other doctors are now employing this sound principle in surgery of draining an infected area, but with less than satisfactory results, relieving only few patients, with pain persisting even after 3 to 4 months of prostatic massages. Recurrences of those cured seem to be high, resulting in the method becoming controversial. Cipro (Ciprofloxin) is a member of the quinolone group of antibiotics. Peak blood levels are reached 1-2 hours after dosing. If you take an ANTACID containing magnesium or aluminum hydroxide (most have one or both), it will bind up to 90% of the drug, rendering it mostly ineffective. Same is true with zinc, iron, and calcium. It reaches optimum blood levels if taken 2 hours after a meal. If you take THEOPHYLLINE) for asthma, Cipro slows down the breakdown of Theophylline, and it will cause severe nervousness as you would expect with an overdose (could be fatal!). Cipro does the same with CAFFEINE, and will build up higher blood levels of caffeine, causing nervousness and CNS stimulation. Cipro is effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It works by interfering with an enzyme that bacteria need to replicate their DNA. Cipro enters tissue, including the prostate, and can be isolated from prostatic secretions.
