Top of Page Bees live in colonies, often with several hundred bees sharing the same hive or nest. The hive is usually built in the ground, in trees, or even buildings. Worker bees collect pollen and nector from flowers which are used to create wax to build the hive. The queen bee creates the wax in her abdomen, which she uses to build chambers or cells where she lays her eggs. In the process of building their hive, bees play a very important role pollinating flowers and plants. As a bee gathers nectar from a flower, tiny grains of pollen will stick to its hairy legs and body. When the bee flies to another flower for nector, the pollen on its legs and body brushes off to help furtilize the flower.

Holy living shit, it's Monday and I haven't even started working on the press packet for the new Hives album. What the?! Oh, hey, boss... Yikes! The bossman says it's due in a half hour! Guess I'm gonna have to shit this one-sheet out like the rest of them! Okay now, let's see what this album's called. Tyrannosaurus ... oh, brilliant! I've got an idea. A brilliant fucking scheme. Hot hell, I am the world's fucking greatest genius. The press is going to eat this bio up. I won't even need to listen to the album! Ladies and gentlemen of the press, I present to you the first line of the one-sheet... Tyrannosaurus Hives is the biggest party of the year and you're all invited even you, Pangaea." A fine opener! Give me the pulitzer, Mr. Pulitzer, because I am the fucking prize! Shit, did dinosaurs live on Pangaea or Panthalassa? Thalatta Thalatta! Ha. Funny, Xenophon. Anyway, that's a terrible opening line. I better start over. Ahhh finger-snapping fuckface, keep your pants on! I got a good one. "This album's got rock, it's got roll, and it's named after a dinosaur what more could you ask for!"

Tip 10: Hives What are Hives?
Hives are red, very itchy, swollen areas of the skin. Hives arise suddenly and may leave quickly in 1-2 hours, or can last as long as 24 hours. They often appear in clusters, with new clusters appearing as other areas clear. Physicians refer to hives as urticaria. Over 20% of the population has suffered an eruption of hives at some point in their lives.
What Causes Hives?
Often hives are a side effect from eating certain foods or taking medications. Foods likely to cause hives include nuts, tomatoes, shellfish, and berries. Medications often responsible for producing hives are penicillin, sulfa, anticonvulsant, phenobarbital, and aspirin.
What are Some Other Causes of Hives?
A common form of hives is dermatographism, which occurs in 5% of the population. The hives are caused by a constant stroking or rubbing of the skin, and often occur after scratching, or when tight-fitting clothes rub the skin. Cholinergic urticaria (hives) is the medical profession's term for hives that can develop after activities which increase the body's temperature. Activities that can cause this include a warm bath, shower, jacuzzi or hot tub use, exercise, a fever, or emotional stress. It has been estimated that 5% - 7% of patients who have hives experience cholinergic urticaria. Cold-induced hives occur after exposure to cold wind or water. Hives may appear on limbs and generally on any exposed area. Cold water or liquids can provoke symptoms on the lips or in the mouth.

Bee hives is a collection of what we consider b-sides.
The earliest dating back to when we were in-between our first album "feel good lost" and our last album "you forgot it in people". Charles, Brendan and myself took advantage of our friend Daniel’s class project, which was to record a band. We spent many early mornings making noise while hooking up with our friend Emily to create a lo-fi anthem (backyards). Others came from wanting a break from the YFIIP sessions and going over to our friend Ohad’s to record while fooling around with sounds (hHallmark, ambulance for the ambience).
There is freedom in creating a b-side because it can be whatever you want it to be. It is something besides what is.
"You Forgot It In People" was an infection with a purpose. We made that record with determination to try something different. Something different from what we were doing in the past. Pop music was a sarcastic wonder to many of us, so it was obvious that something was going to happen. These songs infected the lives of those who wrote them and those lives affected the songs. Everyone got involved in different ways and we became a band.
We became a typical van ride of hope. And we enjoyed it and want to keep enjoying it. We’re excited to see what we do next. We’re excited to see what people want us to do next.

Hives are red, raised, swollen areas on the skin that are very itchy. They can appear on any part of the body, and may come and go for anything from a few hours to a few days. What causes hives?
The most common cause of hives in young children is a viral infection, such as the common cold . Otherwise, they may be the result of an allergic reaction to something your child has been exposed to (though often you won't be able to identify the cause). About 10 to 15 per cent of children will have hives at some point in their early childhood years. Here are some common causes: Food and environmental allergens The most common food allergens that cause hives are milk, eggs, nuts, soy, wheat, fish, and shellfish. (Read more on

Urticaria Urticaria, commonly known as hives, usually strikes suddenly. First the skin itches, then it erupts into red welts. The itching may be severe, keeping people from working or sleeping. It's a distressing disorder which affects an estimated 20 percent of the population at one time or another in their lives. What is urticaria?
Most cases of urticaria are acute, lasting from a few hours to less than six weeks. Some cases are chronic, lasting more than six weeks. The welts may appear in one place, disappear after a short time, then erupt at another spot, then another. They are made worse by scratching. Each individual hive lasts no more than 24 hours. What kinds of things can trigger attacks of urticaria?
Bouts of urticaria have been traced to such triggers as infections, drugs (including aspirin), certain foods and additives, cold, sun exposure, insect stings, alcohol, exercise, endocrine disorders and emotional stress. In some people, pressure caused by belts and constricting clothing causes eruption. Urticaria may be a response to infection including the common cold, strep throat and infectious mononucleosis. In the urticaria-prone person, these triggers cause the body to release chemical mediators, including histamine, from cells. Histamine (which causes itchy, runny noses and watery eyes in hay fever sufferers) dilates the walls of blood vessels, allowing fluids to leak out into the surrounding tissues. Swelling and itching are the result.

Hives
Definition
Hives is an allergic skin reaction causing localized redness, swelling, and itching Description
Hives is a reaction of the body's immune system that causes areas of the skin to swell, itch, and become reddened (wheals). When the reaction is limited to small areas of the skin, it is called "urticaria." Involvement of larger areas, such as whole sections of a limb, is called "angioedema."
Hives is an allergic reaction. The body's immune system is normally responsible for protection from foreign invaders. When it becomes sensitized to normally harmless substances, the resulting reaction is called an allergy. An attack of hives is set off when such a substance, called an allergen, is ingested, inhaled, or otherwise contacted. It interacts with immune cells called mast cells, which reside in the skin, airways, and digestive system. When mast cells encounter an allergen, they release histamine and other chemicals, both locally and into the bloodstream. These chemicals cause blood vessels to become more porous, allowing fluid to accumulate in tissue and leading to the swollen and reddish appearance of hives. Some of the chemicals released sensitize pain nerve endings, causing the affected area to become itchy and sensitive.

    HIVES (URTICARIA)
    What are hives?
Hives are a common skin disorder characterized by raised, itchy and usually red spots ranging from tiny dots to patches several inches in diameter. These lesions are transient and usually resolve in a few hours, then possibly recur.
Acute urticaria is defined as eruptions lasting less than 6 weeks. Chronic hives are eruptions persisting over 6 week. Hives may be caused by a variety of agents such as drugs, laxatives, cold preparations and some vitamin supplements, nuts eggs, chocolate, tomatoes, and strawberries. Hives may also be caused by local pressure (up to several hours later), cold, exercise, fever increase, environmental temperature, stress, and anything which may come in contact with your skin, such as lotions, detergents, soaps, and sun screens.
Angioedema is a severe form of hives involving swelling of the loose tissues around the eyes, lips, ears, tongue and larynx. This can cause difficulty in breathing.
The goal of treatment is to control the symptoms until the antigen (cause) is eliminated from the body. Therefore, the trigger factor needs to be identified and discontinued, if possible. However, this can be very difficult. A detailed diary may be helpful.

Hives
Hives, or urticaria, are large red areas or whelps that are raised and usually come and go over four to six hours, disappearing in one area and popping up in another. They are usually caused by having an allergic reaction to something. Hives usually only last a few days, but may last weeks, even if your child is not being exposed to what he is allergic to anymore. Treatment of this simple type of allergic reaction is using an over the counter antihistamine, such as Benadryl. It is not always possible to find out to what your child is allergic, but if you know what your child is allergic to, then you should avoid it. The most common things that children can have allergic reactions to, include:
  • drugs
  • foods, especially nuts, seafood, beans, egg, milk, and wheat

Presentation
The patient is generally very uncomfortable, with intense itching. There may be a history of similar episodes and perhaps a known precipitating agent (bee sting, food, or drug). Most commonly the patient will only have a rash. Sometimes this is accompanied by edematous swelling of the lips, face and/or hands (angioedema). In the more severe cases, patients may have wheezing, laryngeal edema and/or frank cardiovascular collapse (anaphylaxis). The urticarial rash consists of sharply defined, slightly raised wheals surrounded by erythema and tending to be circular or serpiginous. Each eruption is transient, lasting no more than 8-12 hours, but it may be replaced by new lesions in different locations.
What to do:
  • Attempt to elicit a precipitating cause, including drugs, foods, stress, or an underlying infection or illness, (e.g., collagen vascular disease, malignancy, or, when accompanied by arthralgias, anicteric hepatitis).
  • For immediate relief of severe pruritis, you can try 0.3cc of epinephrine (1:1000) subcutaneously, but this wears off quickly, and adds a number of side effects the patient may find worse than the itching: tachycardia, shaking, dry mouth, wet palms, hypertension, and even angina and myocardial infarction.
