So the insurance company might end up being the one who killed "Don Quixote" after all. Daily Variety reports that production for "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" the $32 million project directed by Terry Gilliam 12 Monkeys ") and co-starring Johnny Depp has been indefinitely halted after the film's title character, French actor Jean Rochefort , dropped out of the picture due to a double disk hernia.
News of Rochefort 's illness came only after three weeks of principal photography for the film. The 70-year-old French star might or might not return to the project pending his condition.
According to Variety, producers of the film are looking to restart production of the film in January. But with

Hiatus Hernia The hiatus hernia is one of the most misunderstood and maligned conditions in medicine. People blame this hernia for much more than it ever does. Patients with a hiatus hernia need to understand what it is and what might occur with it. Most importantly, they need to know it is unusual for serious problems to develop from this type of hernia. Anatomy
The diaphragm is a sheet of muscle that separates the lungs from the abdomen. When a person takes a deep breath, the dome-shaped diaphragm contracts and flattens. In doing this, the diaphragm pulls air into the lungs. The left diaphragm contains a small hole through which passes the tube-shaped esophagus that carries food and liquid to the stomach. Normally this hole, called a hiatus, is small and fits snugly around the esophagus. The J-shaped stomach sits below the diaphragm. What Causes a Hiatus Hernia?
In some people, the hiatus or hole in the diaphragm weakens and enlarges. It is not known why this occurs. It may be due to heredity, while in others it may be caused by obesity, exercises such as weightlifting, or straining at stool. Whatever the cause, a portion of the stomach herniates, or moves up, into the chest cavity through this enlarged hole. A hiatus hernia is now present. Hiatus hernias are very common, occuring in up to 60 percent of people by age 60.

A hernia is a protrusion or bulge of a part of the body tissue, fat, or an organ through an abnormal opening of the surrounding tissues. There are numerous types of hernias, each type named after its affected area.
A hernia which can be pushed back into the abdomen is called reducible . Hernias which are not reducible are called incarcerated . If the blood supply to an incarcerated hernia is pinched off the hernia becomes strangulated . A strangulated hernia is an emergency situation and must be brought to the immediate attention of your veterinarian.
Some of the most common types of hernias are: Umbilical hernia
An umbilical hernia is the most common type of hernia found in puppies. In the case of umbilical hernias, a portion of fat or internal organs protrudes through an incompletely closed umbilical ring. Umbilical hernias may be present at birth, or may be acquired. The most common means of acquiring an umbilical hernia is as a result of the umbilical cord being severed too close to the abdominal wall.
In most cases umbilical hernias are small and reduce as the puppy grows. Generally, by the time the pup is six months old the umbilical hernia will shrink and disappear on its own. If the pup has a large hernia, or one that can be pushed into the abdomen with a finger, consult your veterinarian regarding possible surgical repair.

Many people don't think of hernias as health problems that can occur in children. But hernias are fairly common in kids. Babies (especially premature babies) can even be born with them. In fact, hernia repair is the one of the most common surgeries performed on children. Hernias can be treated. But it's important to recognize the symptoms of the different types of hernias so that you can get your child the appropriate medical care and prevent the hernia from leading to other medical problems. What Causes Hernias?
When part of an organ or tissue in the body (such as a loop of intestine) pushes through an opening or weak spot in a muscle wall, it can protrude into a space where it does not belong. This protrusion is called a hernia. A hernia may look like a bulge or lump.
Some babies are born with various small openings inside the body that will close at some point, but have not closed yet. Nearby tissues can squeeze into such openings and become hernias. Sometimes tissues can squeeze through muscle wall openings that are only meant for arteries or other tissues. In other cases, strains or injuries create a weak spot in the muscle wall, and part of a nearby organ can be pushed into the weak spot so that it bulges and becomes a hernia.

Hernia Hernias come in three varieties: Inguinal hernia This is a protrusion of the abdomen (belly) through the abdomen wall. It will appear as a swelling in the groin area. Eighty percent of hernias are inguinal. Symptoms are pain in the groin when you exercise or even cough and sneeze. Femoral hernia Ten percent of hernias are femoral hernias and will look like a swelling in the upper thigh with symptoms similar to those stated above. Abdominal hernia Hernias in the abdomen can also cause pain to radiate down into the groin. You will need to see a specialist to confirm if you have a hernia or not. What is an umbilical hernia?
An umbilical hernia is an abnormal bulge that can be seen or felt at the umbilicus (belly button). This hernia develops when a portion of the lining of the abdomen, part of the intestine, and/or fluid from the abdomen, comes through the muscle of the abdominal wall. Umbilical hernias are common, occurring in 10% to 20% of all children. They are, however, more common in African Americans. Low birth weight and premature infants are also more likely to have an umbilical hernia. Boys and girls are equally affected.
What causes an umbilical hernia?
As the fetus develops during pregnancy, there is a small opening in the abdominal muscles that allows the umbilical cord to pass through, connecting mother to baby. As the baby grows after birth, this opening in the abdominal muscles closes. Sometimes, however, these muscles do not meet and grow together completely, and a small opening remains. This opening is called an umbilical hernia.

TEXAS PEDIATRIC SURGICAL ASSOCIATES UMBILICAL HERNIA What is an umbilical hernia? An umbilical hernia is a small hole in the abdominal wall at the umbilicus (belly button). It is often most visible when the child cries or strains, as the pressure pushes the abdominal contents or fluid through the hole causing it to bulge. The size of the umbilical hernia is determined by feeling the opening in the abdominal muscle, not by the amount of skin protruding (or sticking) out. Umbilical hernia seen from the front Umbilical hernia as seen in side view What are the symptoms of umbilical hernia? Most umbilical hernias have no symptoms. Generally those concerned about the umbilical hernia are the parents and grandparents. The hernia gets tight when the child strains or cries but usually causes no pain to the child. Some parents express feelings of quilt, but should not because the cause is unknown. Incarceration (abdominal contents getting stuck in the hernia) are very rare. TEXAS PEDIATRIC SURGICAL ASSOCIATES INGUINAL HERNIA What is a hernia? A hernia is the bulging of a portion of an organ through an abnormal opening. The danger from herniation arises when the organ protruding through the opening is constricted to the extent that circulation is stopped or when the protruding organ impairs the function of other structures. What is an inguinal hernia? Inguinal hernias account for about 80% of all hernias and are the most common surgical procedures done in infancy. These hernias appear more frequently in boys than in girls. An inguinal hernia is derived from persistence of all or part of the processus vaginalis, the tube of peritoneum that precedes the testicle into the scrotum during the eighth month of pregnancy. Following the dropping of the testicles into the scrotum, the processus vaginalis withers and closes forming the tunica vaginalis that lies below the testicles in the scrotum. When this fails to happen, fluid from the abdomen or an abdominal organ (usually the intestines) can be forced into it causing a bulging or mass that can be felt. The process vaginalis can extend only partly from the inguinal canal or extend completely into the scrotum. Normal scrotum:
the processus vaginalis and tunica vaginalis are obliterated and contain no fluid or abdominal contents Inguinal hernia:
the processus vaginalis has remained open allowing abdominal contents (fluid and loops of bowel) to enter into the scrotum How is an inguinal hernia treated?
