Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
This site was created in response to the continued marginalization of people suffering from (Benign) Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome , Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, Myalgic Encephalopathy There are other terms that are used in conjunction with this collation of symptoms describing ME , Post-viral Fatigue Syndrome, Post Polio Syndrome and the list goes on. All of these terms have validity in their origins but only Myalgic Encephalomyelitis is classified internationally by the World Health Organization, the chronic fatigue series are little more than pseudonym's are are recorded so, Neurology chapter G93.3 . It should be noted that fatigue syndrome (not Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) is in category F48, Neurasthenia and note that post-viral fatigue syndrome is explicitly excluded from F48.0. The point being that ME is a Neurological disorder and should be treated as such. The belittling term chronic fatigue syndrome arrived courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), primarily for the purpose of enabling further research; that was the

You probably know that taking drugs to suppress your symptoms is a dead-end road.
The questions you have to ask yourself are these: Have I been suffering long enough? Have I 'learned' what I needed to learn from illness?
If you're 'fed-up' with taking drugs that only mask the symptoms of your problem? If so, you're in the right place
At our clinic, we understand one thing: how to get sick people well. And we've had success with many different conditions, from all over the United States and Canada.
Through a comprehensive method of body balancing, health can be restored. We don't "treat disease" at our clinic. Instead, we cleanse, nourish and balance the body, and the power that created the body can then heal the body.
Taking a look at any of the presentations below is a good way to begin your journey to getting well again. If you have problems getting any presentation to display, click here How to Get Well!

165. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome And The Alexander Technique
How this centuryold method of releasing harmful stress may be of benefit to a patient with this disease.
http://www.alexandertechnique.com/articles/chronicfatigue
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the Alexander Technique by Martin Finnegan What exactly is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?* Sometimes referred to as ME or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, it is a term that describes a chronic, debilitating disorder that affects the immune and central nervous system. Typical of its symptoms are a profound fatigue, totally out of proportion to a person's physical activity and independent of mood, plus a range of other symptoms that can affect any organ of the body. The causes of CFS are unknown. Indeed there appear to be any number of apparent causes and in many cases the onset seems to be linked to a stress to the immune system such as an acute infection, especially viral in nature. After the stress or virus has run its course the symptoms do not abate as you would expect but set in, becoming chronic and are often associated with profound fatigue and feelings of general malaise. Western medicine advocates rest, counseling, adjusting lifestyle and support as the best approach to treating CFS and this is all good advice. The problem, it seems to me is one of perception. The orthodox point of view perceives CFS as a thing. It is my opinion that CFS is not a thing at all, which is the reason that no cause and no diagnosis can be found. It is a process. A process of a human system running down, in a variety of ways, to such a point that it can't function properly anymore. In my own experience of CFS, it was exactly that and the solution was not to attempt to 'fix' a part of my body but to address the whole of 'me' and my life, in all its various aspects - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. And the new model that I followed worked.

Walter Tarello, C.P. 42, 06061 Castiglione del Lago (PERUGIA) Italy. Email Author Summary Introduction Methods ... References This work has been done in the Heron Veterinary Clinic of Castiglione del Lago (PERUGIA) Italy
SUMMARY
A cluster of canine Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) was diagnosed according to current criteria accepted in human medicine. The fatigue and pain symptoms were associated with pyoderma, presence of micrococci-like organisms in the blood and the recovery of two vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus xilosus strains, from a pustule and from drinking water. Thiacetarsamide sodium, was administered intravenously at low dosage (0.1 mg/Kg/day) for three days in all dogs. Clinical and hematological parameters at days 4, 7 and 10 after therapy confirmed complete remission from the syndrome, which had lasted for more than 2 years and had been treated previously with several chemotherapeutics agents. The possible role of coagulase-negative staphylococci in the aetiology of CFS and the antimicrobial action of arsenicals are discussed. Key-words: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, CFS, thiacetarsamide, dog, zoonosis.

Dental Topics A-Z CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME Overview Additional Resources
Overview Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), a long-term illness whose etiology remains elusive, is diagnosed in an estimated 500,000 people in the United States. A patient with CFS may have oral manifestations, such as TMJ disorders and Sjogren's syndrome. In addition, commonly prescribed medications used in management of this syndrome may induce adverse reactions in the oral cavity. The information provided here is intended as a resource for dentists to assist in the dental management of patients who have been diagnosed with CFS. If a patient reports symptoms consistent with CFS, the patient should be referred to his or her physician for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Definition General fatigue and other symptoms similar to CFS were described as early as the 1860s. 1) Severe chronic fatigue of six months or longer duration with other known medical conditions excluded by clinical diagnosis; and 2) concurrently, four or more of the following symptoms: substantial impairment in short-term memory or concentration; sore throat; tender lymph nodes; muscle pain; multi-joint pain without swelling or redness; headaches of a new type, pattern or severity; unrefreshing sleep; and post-exertional malaise lasting more than 24 hours. The symptoms must have persisted or recurred during six or more consecutive months of illness and must not have predated the fatigue.

Inside every sick person is a well person wondering what the hell happened.
Welcome to the world of Living With Illness.
Chronic illness is a life experience like no other. It leaves no aspect of our lives untouched, creating uncertainty, self-doubt, losses and limitations, adjustment issues, and a lot of hard work. Illness changes the way we see ourselves and alters our perceptions of the world around us.
Learning to adapt and to live differently is perhaps the greatest challenge we will ever face.
We mourn the loss of life as it was and ultimately learn to create a “new normal.” Although at times we feel defenseless against forces we cannot control, we find options for creating meaningful lives despite significant obstacles.
It is a testimony to the resilience of the human spirit that we learn to endure and ultimately to grow. We learn to make changes when we can and to accept what we cannot change. At times our spirits may flag, causing us to wonder how we can possibly go on...and yet we do.
Those in good health cannot possibly understand the ordeals of chronic illness. They may be supportive or skeptical; they may come closer or back away. Our careers may continue, or come to a screeching halt. Nothing can be planned with certainty. Fluctuating symptoms turn every “yes” into “maybe” or “I hope so.” The coping mechanisms that once worked so well no longer apply. The things we had counted on in life become dreams rather than expectations.

It is important to look at the causes - viral, parasitic, environmental, hormonal - which can all cause problems. To be successful we must act as a detective by analyzing blood tests that will assist us with the clues. At that point we determine if we are dealing with a viral, toxin, nutritional or hormonal problem or a combination of all. Finding the cause and combining therapies often gets the best results towards the healing journey.
