Oxford Endometriosis Gene Study
The OXEGENE study, based at the University of Oxford, is part of the International Endogene Study, a world-wide collaboration which aims to find genes responsible for causing endometriosis.
As a collaborative group, we have conducted a linkage study of 1,176 families each with at least two members - mainly affected sister pairs - with surgically diagnosed endometriosis. We have identified a region on chromosome 10q26 which probably harbours a gene responsible for conferring increased susceptibility to endometriosis. Another disease-susceptibility gene may be be found in a region on chromosome 20p13.
The results have been published in the September volume of the American Journal of Human Genetics PDF file

On 4th April 2004, Stephen Kennedy ran his first marathon in Paris, in a time of 3.53.19, to raise money for research in Oxford into certain types of ovarian cancer, which rarely are associated
