Defined as , each year, this common phobia causes millions of people needless distress. To add insult to an already distressing condition, most emetophobia therapies take months or years and sometimes even require the patient to be exposed repeatedly to vomiting or throwing up over and over again. We believe this is totally unnecessary, and can even make matters worse, now that emetophobia can be eliminated with just 24 hours of commitment by the phobic individual. What is emetophobia?
Emetophobia is an irrational or excessive fear of vomiting. But nobody likes to vomit. A phobia is distinguished from an ordinary fear by the irrational and excessive anxiety caused by the stimuli for the phobic individual. For example, many people would not want to explore caves because of a fear of snakes. But some people with a snake phobia, called ophidiophobia, are afraid to walk on the sidewalk in downtown Chicago because a snake might be there. So, hundreds of millions of people may fear vomiting, but they don't alter their daily lives because of it the way emetophobics do. The fear is also all-consuming; for most emetophobics, vomiting is their single worst fear. In casual conversation, many phobics say they'd rather die than vomit. (We hope that's overstated.) It's not an overstatement that for many phobics, anxiety about vomiting ruins almost every day. There is another phobia related to emetophobia called social phobia. (Social phobia is a general fear of being judged by other people.) People who are social phobic often have a fear of vomiting in public, but this is not the same as emetophobia. People with social phobia vomit in private with no more anxiety than a normal person would have. (Of course, emetophobics fear vomiting in public at least as much as social phobics do. And some people have both emetophobia and social phobia.) Social phobics make sure they can get to a bathroom if they need to vomit (and this can go to an extreme as well, like insisting on an aisle seat in crowded places), but they don't do all the things that emetophobics do.

When I was 23 years old I packed up all of my belongs (at least all those that would fit into some overstuffed suitcases) and with my 9 month old baby girl in arms got on a plane and moved 1200 miles away from my hometown. I left behind everything I knew to be safe. My hope was that I would find this Self that I new existed inside of me, and the freedom I knew I wanted but could never seem to attain. It was a long trip both geographicly and emotionally. Shortly after landing in my flamingo paradise I realized that even though the climate, the faces, and the places had changed, everyday life still felt the same. It sounds confusing, but really it is very simple. It did not take me long to get right back into my well rehearsed rut, overtaken by the constant fear of vomitting that is Emetophobia. I decided to: 1) Never eat seafood at a restaurant, hardly ever chicken, and red meat only in the form of steak and only if it was mostly burnt-Ecoli, Psaumanilla, Tomaine all food born illnesses there are many more that the average person has never even heard of. 2) Keep my baby away from sick people as much as possible, including any form of daycare or socialization-Roto virus, Norwalk virus both highly contagious and nasty stomach illnesses consistently carried by children.

Cause and Lifestyle
Nearly every emetophobic contracted their phobia as a result of a traumatic incident of vomiting that happened to them between the ages of six and ten. Most emetophobics claim they can will themselves to not vomit. A survey of an Internet group of emetophobics found that the average one had most recently vomited over twelve years earlier. Most emetophobics have vomited five or fewer times in their lives. edit
Lifestyle
Emetophobics are known to go to great lengths to avoid people who may be sick, to avoid being in public places where people may vomit, and above all, to practice eating habits in such a manner as to minimize the chance of their vomiting. Most emetophobics are extremely picky eaters, and avoid not only

Symptoms of emetophobia: Your fear of vomiting can result in the following symptoms:
breathlessness, dizziness, dry mouth, excessive sweating, nausea, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack. You are not the only one to suffer from emetophobia. Most sufferers are surprised to learn that they are far from alone in this surprisingly common, although often unspoken, phobia. Emetophobia is an intense fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. While adults with emetophobia realize that these fears are irrational, they often find that facing, or even thinking about facing, the feared situation brings on a panic attack or severe anxiety.
There is a Way Out Imagine what your life will be like when you know that you are not "defective". When you can be confident and at ease in situations where you used to feel your emetophobia. And when you can talk about your former emetophobia symptoms as though you are describing a movie where the character is someone else, not you.
An Amazing Discovery Several years ago, a psychologist specializing in phobias like emetophobia, made an amazing discovery.
