General Discussion
Degos disease is a rare systemic disorder that affects small and medium sized arteries, causing them to become blocked (occlusive arteriopathy). Degos disease usually progresses through two stages. During the first stage, characteristic skin lesions appear that may last for a period of time ranging from weeks to years. The second stage of Degos disease is most frequently characterized by lesions in the small intestine, but other organs may also be affected. Major symptoms may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and/or weight loss. Intestinal lesions may break through the wall of the bowel (perforation), a potentially life-threatening complication. The exact cause of Degos disease is unknown.

SkinCell International Forum for Skin Disorders
An international non-profit discussion forum for ALL skin complaints including Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea and many others. Open to sufferers, their family and friends.
Origins of SkinCell
SkinCell International Forum for Skin Disorders was established in August 2002 because we saw that whilst there are many very informative and resourceful sites on the Web, very few concentrated on the psychological trauma that we skin sufferers face. The majority of those great sites specialise in a single skin condition, a few concentrate on all dermatological conditions, even fewer address the serious issue of patient well-being. Here at SkinCell we have attempted to make available to all skin sufferers and their families an open and free forum where they can discuss any skin disorder or disease they choose.
The Forum
SkinCell offers a lively and friendly Forum for its members including:
  • Skin and General Health discussions Member Profiles; including Username, Country of origin, personal avatars, home web site links, posting history etc

Intrathoracic manifestations of Degos' disease (malignant atrophic papulosis)
RN Pierce and GJ Smith
Degos' disease (malignant atrophic papulosis) is a rare multisystemic disease with characteristic cutaneous lesions, abdominal symptoms and often rapidly fatal course. Our review of the reported intrathoracic involvement in the more than 60 reported cases of Degos' disease suggests that pleuritis and pericarditis are manifestations of the underlying pathophysiologic process. Seventeen of these reported cases were said to
