VANILLOID RECEPTORS ANTAGONISTS and METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THEM
OTL Reference: KOAL426537 Georgetown University is seeking a partner to continue the development of a novel Pain Management technology entitled, "Vanilloid Receptors Antagonists and Methods of Making and using them." Pain is iniated when subgroups of sensory neurons, called nociceptors, are activated by noxious chemical, thermal or mechanical stimuli. Nociceptors are characterized in part, by their sensitivity to vanilloids. In mammals, exposure of nocceptor terminals to vanilloids leads to excitation of the neuron and the consequent perception of pain and local release of inflammatory mediators. Applications and Advantages: - Exploits structure of iodo-resiniferatoxin a TRPV1 antagonist, which enhances affinity in the calcium uptake assay and capasazepine, a competitive capsaicin antagonist.
