Common Name: Ginkgo
Botanical Name: Ginkgo biloba L.
Pharmaceutic Name: Semen Ginkgo; folium Ginkgo
Family: Ginkgoaceae Parts Used: Seed, leaf Sources Ginkgo originally grew in China. In 1700s it was brought to Europe as decorative tree. During fall collect their fruit when they are matured. After peel off the meat of the fruit the seeds are the part to use. Instead, commercial ginkgo extracts were made from the leaves. In Europe, Asia, and even the United States, trees are specifically grown for producing extract. Chemical Component The seed contains starch, fat, protein, Gibberellin, cytokinin-like substances. The exoderm contains ginkgolic acid, hydroginkgolinic acid, bilobol, ginnol. The leaves contain flavonoids and terpenoids. Ginkgo extracts sold in Europe are standardized to contain 22-27 percent flavonoids and 5-7percent terpenoids.

DO YOU SUFFER FROM POOR BLOOD CIRCULATION?
If I had poor blood circulation I would begin immediately taking the supplements listed below in the amounts suggested to support cellular health. MSM+C:
Take a level teaspoon or three capsules just before breakfast and again just before dinner. Ultimate Coral Calcium:
Take 2 with breakfast and 2 with dinner. B-Complex:
In severe cases of poor blood circulation I would take 2 with breakfast. In early stages such as low-level high blood pressure or high LDL cholesterol 1 with breakfast should be sufficient.
WHAT CAUSES POOR BLOOD CIRCULATION?
The major causes of poor blood circulation are free radical damage to the circulatory system, a lack of proper nutrition, and acid toxins within the body. When you don’t digest enough natural vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids your veins, arteries and capillaries will break down causing poor blood circulation. Add to that the numerous acids such as soft drinks that people consume and exposure to free radicals in our oxygen supply and its no wonder we have so many people suffering from poor blood circulation.

Laboratory of pathology of cerebral circulation
Head of the Laboratory - Doctor of Biological Science, Prof. Semeniutin Vladimir Borisovich The Laboratory of Pathology of Cerebral Circulation (LPCC) was organized in 1971 on the initiative of Director of the Institute, Honored Science Worker of the Russian Federation, Prof. Ugriumov V.M. In 1972-1982 it was headed by Doctor of Medical Science, Prof. Teplov S.I., who was a physiologist. Together with Prof. Ugriumov V.M. he outlined both fundamental and applied prospective trends of research in pathophysiology of cerebral circulation and formulated a hypothesis concerning the role of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal system in mechanisms of cerebral circulation disorders in patients with different neurosurgical pathology. A valuable contribution was made into development of the following problems: - blood supply and metabolism in cerebral circulatory hypoxia;
- neurogenic regulation of cerebral blood flow and the role of neurogenic and hormonal factors in pathogenesis of vascular disorders;
- interrelations between cerebral and systemic hemodynamics;

Health Education
Health education or patient education is important aspect of disease management program. Even some programs, especially some chronic disease management can go further and introduced self-management for some aspect of illness. Good example is management of arthritis. There are a variety of models for both formal and informal self-management. However, the core concepts involve engagement in self-care, improved self-monitoring, interactions with healthcare professionals and coping with disease. Self-management programs are mostly provided to people with chronic diseases like arthritis, diabetes, and some skin diseases. Patient education and self-management programs are aim to improve the efficiency and quality of the healthcare process and overall improve quality of life. It is not really about reduction in doctor visits or clinic attendances. Even sometime, an improved healthcare process can include more frequent use of services because of improved compliance. In this website, you can find resources for articles about common health topics and news. New findings in the field are included some articles. Topics are categories in the alphabetical order and you can use Health Article Search Box to search the topic you want.

Circulatory Problems BASIC INFORMATION DESCRIPTION There are many disorders associated with circulatory problems. When plaque or fatty deposits form along t he walls of the arteries, it causes them to harden and constrict. Hypertension , or high blood pressure, results because the blood exerts greater force against the walls of the narrowed and/or more rigid blood vessels. Hypertension can lead to stroke, angina pectoris (chest pain), kidney damage, and heart attack. A circulatory disease that is brought on by chronic inflammation of the blood vessels in the extremities is thromboangiitis obliterans (Buerger's disease) . This disease is most prevalent among people who smoke. It usually affects the foot or lower leg, but it can occur in the hand, arm, or thigh as well. Early signs of Buerger's disease are a tingling sensation (commonly referred to as "pins and needles" and a burning sensation in the fingers and toes. It can lead to ulceration and gangrene; in severe cases, amputation may be required. Another serious circulatory condition is Raynaud's Phenomenon , which is characterized by constriction and spasm of the blood vessels in the extremities, such as in the fingers, toes, and tip of the nose. Cold, stress, smoking, and other factors may cause fingers and toes to become numb; extremities may appear colorless or bluish due to lack of circulation and arterial spasm. This disease most commonly affects women and occasionally leads to gangrene. Poor circulation can also result from

by Ken Babal, C.N., Health News Circulation is comprised of blood and the apparatus which moves it, namely, the heart and some 60,000 miles of tubing. The heart pumps blood through large vessels called arteries which divide and subdivide into a fine network of tiny blood vessels called capillaries. The capillaries permeate every tissue of the body, exchanging nutrients and metabolic end products. The blood returns to the heart through the capillaries which meet to form the larger veins. In this manner, the blood moves in a circle which is why we speak of the "circulatory system" or "blood circulation." "Ginkgo's ability to improve blood circulation to the brain's extremities makes it useful for many conditions." Through the circulation of blood, tissues and organs are brought food (sugars, lipids, and protein), oxygen, ions (electrically charged particles), hormones, vitamins, and minerals around the clock. Waste products, such as carbon dioxide, are carried away. The circulatory system also distributes heat where necessary. All this and it plugs its own leaks! It is not difficult to see the importance of proper blood circulation. Healthy circulation delivers life-giving substances to all glands and organs and is thereby crucial to preventing and overcoming disease.

Asymmetric Dimethylarginine and Circulatory Disorders in Postmenopausal Women
Kazushi Tsuda, MD Ichiro Nishio, MD Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, Wakayama Medical University, Wakayama, Japan, To the Editor: et al dealing with the relationship among asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), homocyst(e)ine, and endothelial function in young healthy adults, patients with peripheral arterial disease, and older healthy adults. The results of their study demonstrated that experimentally induced hyperhomocyst(e)inemia increased plasma ADMA, an effect that was temporally related to a decline in proposed that ADMA might have a causal role in endothelial dysfunction because there was a significant inverse correlation between plasma ADMA and flow-mediated dilatation of the brachial artery.

Other structures of the back of the brain are the occipital lobes (the vision areas of the brain) and the cerebellum (motor coordination). Blood flow in the posterior circulation of the brain may be disrupted by many different conditions. The most common cause is stroke caused by hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis). Atherosclerosis occurs when fat accummulates in a blood vessel wall, causing local inflammation (irritation and swelling). The areas of inflammation are called plaques, and they may break off and cause blood clots inside the vessel.
