A LOOK INTO THE LIFE OF A KIDNEY PATIENT

HI! My name is Tony Munn I am finally getting my page back on line. I am constructing this page to try and help raise awareness about the need for organ donation. I had a transplant myself on Nov.29, 1993. I was very fortunate as my wife was able and willing to give me one of her kidneys. If this had not have happened I may have waited up to 5 years for a kidney. Some people live for many years on dialysis but believe me it is far from the normal way of life we are used to. So please give organ donation some serious thought, sign an organ donor card, let your family know your wishes and give someone the gift of life. There are many different types of kidney disease. I was diagnosed as having IGA also known as Bergers Disease. The way it was explained to me is that it may have started from a kidney infection that didn't get entirely cleared up.

Hypothenar Hammer Syndrome
Ronald W. Fuller M.D.
Peer Review Status: Internally Peer Reviewed Clinical Sx:
34-year-old male smoker with ischemic fourth and fifth digits of the hand with possible diagnosis of Bergers disease. Etiology/Pathophysiology:
Hypothenar hammer syndrome results from repetitive blunt trauma to the palm of the hand. The position of the ulnar artery in the hypothenar eminence crossing the hamate bone makes it vulnerable to repetitive occupational or recreational trauma that may result in aneurysm formation or ulnar artery thrombosis, with the aneurysm occasionally serving as a source for digital emboli. Imaging:
The arterial lesion may appear angiographically as spasm, occulsion, aneurysm, or a combination. Arterial narrowing may result from arterial spasm, extrinsic compression, or subintimal hematoma. Intraluminal filling defects may represent intraluminal thrombosis or intimal flaps. Intimal flaps appear as thin lucent strips in the contrast column. Pseudoaneurysms are a focal widening of the lumen as a result of damage to the arterial media. DDX:
Emboli from different etiologies and atheroscerotic disease that can usually be differentiated by history.

Function of immunoglobulin A in immunity
van Egmond M, van Garderen E, van Spriel AB, et al . Fc RI-positive liver Kupffer cells: reappraisal of the function of immunoglobulin A in immunity. Nat Med [Medline] Abstract Despite the well-recognized involvement of immunoglobulin (Ig) A in mucosal immunity, the function of its receptor, Fc RI (CD89), is poorly understood. The ability of Fc RI to activate leukocytes seems to conflict with the proposed anti-inflammatory activity of secretory IgA. We show here that in a transgenic mouse
